Valentine’s Day Crafts & Gifts

Valentine’s Day Crafts & Gifts

And just like that, we’re already in February!  Did y’all watch the game last night?  I caught bits and pieces but always watch the half-time show and thought it was great!  Love Missy Elliott- her songs take me back to the 90s, even though those songs she sang were from early 2000s. And they’re still on my iPod!So, this month we celebrate l-o-v-e and it also happens to be the month I turn 40!!  That must be why I remember the 90s like they were only 10 years ago. 😉 Valentine’s day comes first (in less than 2 weeks!), so let me share some Valentine’s crafts and gifts I played around with over the weekend.

Put me in the camp of, “I like to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but it doesn’t have to be a huge celebration. A small acknowledgement of love is great.”  A little love note, a great piece of chocolate or sharing champagne, a cute nighty, a flower . . .  you get the idea.  I think Valentines are for everyone too- kids, girlfriends, Mom.  I’ve got a few things picked out for my son already. 🙂

Valentine’s Day Sugar Cookies

Valentine’s Day Sugar Cookies

Happy Valentine’s Day friends!  We are ready for my son’s class party- just bringing sugar cookies and juice, which is perfect for the cutest bunch of 3-year-olds around.  To make them sweeter, I put the cookies in a plastic baggie with a V-day napkin.

I’m really happy that James helped make the cookies and he’s super excited to share them with his class.  Yes, it makes a mess and our floors are still dirty, but I’ll get it all cleaned up this weekend.

I used this sugar cookie recipe and they are tasty!  My icing on the other hand,

Kids’ Valentine Craft – Personalized Gift Bags

Kids’ Valentine Craft – Personalized Gift Bags

My son’s preschool class will be having a Valentine’s party and, over the weekend, we completed a quick, inexpensive Valentine craft for the kiddos.  We made personalized gift bags for everyone with muslin bags, an ink stamp, and red marker.  I got these 4×6 bags at Amazon (25 for $5).

I figured there will be plenty of sweets (I’m bringing cookies) at the party, so we filled the bags with goodies instead- bubbles, kazoo, and foam heart sticker.

We got a little off track while stamping the bags . . .

But that’s part of the fun,

Valentine Ideas (DIY Welcome Mat)

Valentine Ideas (DIY Welcome Mat)

If you’re in the mood for a quick and easy Valentine decor idea, how about creating a loving message at your front door?  I was originally looking for a plain mat that I could paint a big red heart on, but when I found this “key” welcome mat, I figured I could add a sweet message instead.

I’m not sure how practical this mat will be as far as the paint lasting once dirty shoes are scraped against it, but it’s sure cute for now!

I die over this adorable shabby chic wagon from Hobby Lobby.

Handmade Valentine {Heart Magnets}

Handmade Valentine {Heart Magnets}

Hi all!  I’m sending you a big ‘ole fat Happy Valentine’s wish to you today!

I typically like to keep our refrigerator bare, but lately, I’ve found myself wanting to use the fridge to post notes, invites and reminders (truth is, if I don’t write it down, I absolutely will not remember it).  But, when I went to pin something to the fridge, I couldn’t find a magnet in our house.  So while I was at Michael’s picking up some V-Day supplies, I added a pack of magnets to my basket and then glued them to the glitter hearts above and the clothespins below.
