I’m a girly girl at heart and usually feel my best when I’ve at least but on a couple coats of mascara! Most days I do a quick 7-minute makeup routine and put my hair in a topknot. Here you’ll find my beauty and hair posts including my over-40 skincare routine, my experience with microblading (wish I’d done it sooner) and lash extensions (took them off but miss them), and my easy hair curling tutorial for loose waves.
Hi friends! I hope you dominated Monday and your week is off to a great start! My Monday was super busy, catching up on chores like laundry and grocery shopping that I didn’t get done during the weekend. And I’m also looking forward to sprucing up the landscaping around my house. Two bushes right by my front door have died and I want to plant flowers to bring some life to the front yard. The backyard is also in need of maintenance and weed pulling!
Good morning friends! I feel like yesterday was the most productive day I’ve had in a long time! A long weekend always throws me off! But I was determined to GSD yesterday, so I made myself get out of bed at 6:30, went for a run, got goodies for the end-of-year teacher gifts, and picked up groceries all by mid-morning! I’ll count that a win!
Good morning friends! I hope you enjoyed a nice, long weekend! Ours was lovely, slow paced with rain showers sprinkled in. Sometimes those chill weekends are just what the doctor ordered!
This is the last week of school before summer break officially starts and I’m so ready! I’m sure the kids are too. On one hand, I like having some structure to the day, but on the other hand, it’s been pretty stressful encouraging James to keep working and making sure all of his assignments got done. I have even more respect and love for our teachers after this!
Hi friends! How is your week going? I’m literally forgetting what day/week of ‘at home’ we’re on, but it’s definitely become our new normal. I know we have at least three more weeks of this and I’m okay with it, I just wish there wasn’t so much anxiousness in the air.
And I miss my friends and family. Really bad. My amazing group of Mom friends always gets together for birthdays and we have two special ones this month. We’ve been plotting virtual parties, but I wish I could hug their necks and get together in person!
Good morning friends! Welcome to a new week! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was lovely and very slow. I got to sleep in, which felt amazing. Then, I cleaned the house, did a bunch of laundry and worked on my blog. I wanted this skincare post to be very informative, so I took my time writing it and I hope it’s helpful for you!

Good morning friends! Midway through the week and I’m feeling good! It’s amazing what seeing all those little checkmarks on the chart can do for your motivation and energy! Did you print it out and hang it on your fridge? I’d love you to tag me @honeywerehome when you share your progress. And, if you want me to make a blank one so you can customize it your own specific goals, let me know in the comments.
Today’s post is a double good one for you! Along with Just the Best Sales, I’m sharing the results of my recent trip to Sephora,

Good morning Monday friends! How was your weekend? Ours was packed with chores, baseball, basketball and most importantly, we celebrated James’ 10th birthday on Sunday!
I could go on and on about him and all of the qualities that make him so special. But, I’ll just say he has been a JOY and DELIGHT since the day he was born and is to this day! We love him so very much! And I get to spend today with him to since I’m volunteering at the 4th grade field trip!
Hi friends! Happy Monday! Are you ready for the new year?! Any fun plans for NYE?? We’ll be keeping it low key with a few friends, but I’m so excited for 2020! I love the fresh start a new year brings, but something about it being 2020 makes it extra special. I’m ready to put 2019 in the books and welcome 2020! You too??
I hope in that last few years I’ve been able to spread my Grandma Nola’s Take Care of You message and that it’s had a positive impact on your life.

I’m super excited about today’s post because I don’t think I’ve ever written about this topic on my blog. I’ve shared it on Stories, but you might have missed it. I’m glad it will be here on my blog now as a handy reference for you!
My skin is nowhere near perfect #hello44, but I do my best with what I’ve been given. I did all the wrong things in high school like slather my body in baby oil mixed with iodine and lay out in the sun for hours trying to turn my skin golden brown.

Good morning Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are excited about the week ahead. Mondays can be hard getting back into the groove after the weekend, but if you get your mindset right that it IS going to be a fantastic, productive week, the day starts to follow your lead!
You may have heard me share on Stories recently the vitamins I’ve been taking, and today I’m going to dive in and give you all the details. Logically,
Good morning friends! You have no idea how much your kind messages and commiserations over Jordan starting preschool yesterday meant to me. Jordan started out having a great day, but when we walked into the school, she got scared and started crying. Which, of course, made me cry!
Luckily, she was allowed to bring a comfort item from home and her Lovey did make her feel better. We waited in line with her through assembly, then walked her to her classroom where she got to hang up her new backpack, put her new lunchbox in her special cubby,
Good morning and Happy 4th of July! I hope you spend the day celebrating with people you love. I’m so grateful to live in America and be able to take advantage of everything our great country has to offer. Thank you, thank you to everyone of you that serves our country so that we can live in the land of the free!
DRUGSTORE MAKEUP TUTORIAL
Last month, I shared my easy, everyday makeup routine with you and I got lots of requests to do a similar look using only drugstore products. I went on the hunt at Target,
Hello friends! We’re continuing the vacation train today and I’m following up on the What to Pack for a Beach Vacation post with this handy “What’s in My Travel Case” post.
I like to keep this bag packed so that when I head out of town, it’s ready to go. Of course, a few things like my eyeglasses and toothbrush (I take my fancy electric one) go in last minute. It’s so nice not to have to worry about packing these essentials and they all fit inside this cute bag I’ve had for ages.

Hi friends! How was your weekend? We had a really good one that started with a rainy baseball game on Saturday, then the select baseball league tryouts on a gorgeous Sunday. It made for a loooong Sunday, but it’s really fun for the kids!
5 MAKEUP TIPS FROM A PROFESSIONAL
I’m really excited for today’s post focusing on beauty and makeup! I like to put on a little bit of makeup each day to make myself feel better and be more productive, but I usually stick to the basics.
My Take Care of You post was one of my most popular ever, and I’ve been blogging for 8 years! Y’all loved the wise advice from my Grandma Nola and she got a kick out of it too! I was talking on the phone with her last week and she was telling me that at her age, 91, she remembers the past way better than what happened yesterday.
ADVICE FROM GRANDMA NOLA
She has wonderful memories of growing up healthy and happy in rural Missouri, being raised by her Aunt Bernice and Uncle Mack. They lived very modestly on the farm and didn’t even have electricity.
I grew up with parents that had me as teenagers. I’m 43 now and my beautiful Mom is 59. She had to leave high school for a while after she had me, but went back later to get her diploma. While she was working and going to school, I stayed home with my Grandma Nola. What’s funny is that Grandma Nola isn’t my blood relative, but she’s one of the people I’m closest to in my life and one of the most influential. I love her so very much.
