She’s playful and curious and smart and just getting cuter by the day! Jordan is so loved by all of us! If you’re a new mom, or can’t help but swoon over a sweet baby girl, this is the spot for you. I’m sharing all the real-life pregnancy stages here and lots of baby routines (how do you get them to sleep?!) that will help you make it through that challenging first year with your sweet babe. And of course, the celebratory 1st birthday party!
Can y’all believe Jordan is six months old already?! And she just turned 7 months old yesterday! Since our son is 6 years old, it’s obviously been awhile since we’ve had a baby in the house and little Jordan is making me vividly remember those early days with James. This is where it really gets fun though, right?! She’s just the cutest thing! I can put the top of her hair in a teeny bow now and it keeps it out of her face. So adorable!!
But this girl is already on the go and so much so that I can’t keep my eyes off of her.
I just looked up at realized we’re already more than halfway past this year! What a year it’s been so far! Obviously, the biggest and best change around here is the addition of our bundle of joy, Ms. Jordan Nicole. She’s already 5 months old and just growing by the day! I love how interactive she is and what a sweet ball of mushiness her little body feels like. She smiles often and her hair is a hot mess all the time. 😉 She was born with a full head of dark hair, but rubbed the sides and back off and was left with only a giant tuft on top.
About three weeks ago, we began to transition Jordan from my bed to her crib and it went so well that I waited to write about it to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t without any crying, which would probably be a miracle, but it was so much less painful than I anticipated! It took about one week to get her sleeping through the night in her crib and I couldn’t have been more surprised.
If you’ve been following my blog for long, you know I’m all about organization, schedules, and routines. It’s just the way I’m wired and my Mom tells me I’ve been that way since I was a toddler, organizing all my toys and books from an early age. I haven’t purposefully tried to put our newborn, Jordan, on a schedule but since she’s been born, I’ve tracked her feedings and sleep times on this tracker, and after a couple months, recognized her pattern. I’m glad I did because having some expectation of when she’ll be napping and eating helps me know when I can eat or get some things done during the day!
Remember when I told you a few weeks ago that I was wishing my husband would be more involved with the baby? Well, I’ve just been handing her off more lately, . . . here you go! 🙂 I’ve captured some snaps of when he is holding her and there’s probably nothing sweeter than a little baby girl and her Daddy!
I think I’m also way less resentful that he’s getting to enjoy all the fun stuff with James and I’m just on baby duty because now James is home with me for the summer and we’ve been having such a good time together that it’s taken the edge off.
Is your week going well? I had to take a breather earlier this week since Sunday we hosted my sis-n-law’s baby shower here and those parties are so fun, but also take a lot of time and energy. We are so excited to welcome another baby into our family, I can’t wait!! I was up late on Sunday night cleaning and getting the house put back together so I could start the week fresh. So, house is all clean, the laundry finally got folded and put away and now we can focus on this, the last week of school!
Waking up this Monday morning feeling like it was Friday only yesterday! Can you relate?! Weekends are pretty busy with trying to fit in all the things we didn’t get to during the week, and adding in a birthday party and sports game to the mix. No rest for the weary and today I’m sharing what life has been like since Jordan’s been born.
We’ve definitely had to adjust our routine to accommodate the stress delight of having two kids, but of course it’s so worth it. We got real comfortable with just one 6-year old who’s pretty self-sufficient and having a newborn hit pretty hard.
In the last trimester of my pregnancy, I started worrying about what labor would be like and how I would know it had started, the pain factor, etc. I’d been having tons of braxton hicks contractions and was induced with our son,
Happy Monday and happy Spring Break! I have to admit I’m a little nervous about being home alone with two kids, but our 6-year old is pretty self-sufficient and even though he probably plays too much on the iPad and video games, I’ll take it right now. #reallife As you with newborns know, my days currently revolve around those at-least-every-three-hour feedings, but thank God, she’s a good eater and breastfeeding is going well. I am going kind of stir crazy being home so much and I miss being able to get out more. It’s not all sunshiney feelings, there’s lots of hormonal emotions I experience that range from joy,
I look at these photos below and want to say, “It doesn’t get any better than this!” But, as a second-time mom, I know that it actually does, if that’s even possible. Just when you think your heart is going to burst open from so much love and fear and baby newness, the love only continues to grow and grow and the relationship and bond becomes stronger as the baby turns into a toddler and then a child. And as you moms of older kids and adults know well, it grows even more from there. Being a mom is my most favorite thing in the whole world.
Friends, I couldn’t wait to share our good news with you! Our baby girl came early, on February 18th and we got to bring her home on Saturday, which happened to be my birthday! This is seriously the best birthday present ever!
6 pounds, 10 ounces
She is doing so well and is healthy and thriving and very peaceful so far! Big brother is also smitten and I have to thank our friends and family, who are going above and beyond to be helpful right now, bringing meals and showering us with love. It’s such a sweet,
How nice to have a 3-day weekend! Our son was off of school yesterday, so we continued the weekend with an actually very productive day of meal planning, grocery shopping, slow cooker meal making, creating DIY lightsabers for James’ upcoming 6th Star Wars birthday party, organizing my spice drawer of all things, T-ball practice, and of course, more organizing on the nesting homefront now that baby girl has less than a month until she makes her debut! I think God prepares us perfectly because, although I admit to my fair share of nervous feelings about this second baby, at 37 weeks now,
Here we are at just six weeks to go until this baby girl is due to arrive! How in the world did we get to 34 weeks so fast when my first pregnancy felt like it lasted two years?!?! I guess that’s the thing with your second pregnancy, you’re so busy and occupied with your first that time seems to fly by. Until it doesn’t.
If you’ve been following along on our pregnancy journey, you know that up until now I’ve been all, “pregnancy is great . . . I feel fantastic . . . I’m loving being pregnant . .
Good morning friends! Are y’all on the east coast thawing out? I’ve been watching on the news all the issues with the snow and travel and I know it’s no comparison to experiencing it for yourself. If you’re home today, I hope you get to enjoy it!
I’m waking up 34 weeks pregnant and it’s really been getting harder and harder as I get bigger and bigger. I feel like this second pregnancy has flown by, but all of a sudden, I’m like, “how can I last 6 more weeks?!” I’ve been working on my next bump update that I plan to share tomorrow,
The weekends are going too fast, I swear! I’m embarrassed to admit how many hours it took me to get my address book and contacts all up to date this weekend so that I could get our holiday cards in the mail! But thankfully, it’s all done now. I wish I was more organized and had my shiz together so our cards (first of all would have been mailed by now), but two: would have pretty Christmas stamps and festive return address labels, but I only now ordered them, so those will have to wait until next year.
I had to keep reminding myself that it’s the sentiment,
We just found out this week and I couldn’t wait to share with you that our baby-on-the-way is a . . .
G I R L !!!
20 Week Baby Bump
Of course we would be thrilled with either a boy or a girl and just pray that our baby is healthy and strong. She looked perfect on the sonogram and I got to see all her cute little parts and her legs crossed and hands up by her face. Her face! Ahhh, I still can’t believe it! She is absolutely adorable,
Are we seriously nearly halfway through this pregnancy already?! I guess so because I’m officially 20 weeks today! I know that the second half of pregnancy drags on and on and feels much longer than the first. Partly because by the time you know you’re pregnant, you’re already 5-6 weeks along, but also by the end, you’re just so over it and ready to meet that precious little baby! My last update was at 13 weeks, so it’s time for another one!
Like many pregnant women, I seemed to turn the corner for feeling better once I got to the second trimester.
