Amazon Beauty & My Favorite Tubing Mascara

Hi friend!  I hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s day yesterday! I gave each of my kids a new basketball and a chocolate treat, plus heart-shaped sugar cookies.  We also picked out flowers and a sweet card for my mom.  God bless her- she also helped make sure my kids had something for me too- my favorite chocolates!  🙂

Today, I’m sharing some of my recent Amazon beauty products with you, including my trial run with four different tubing mascaras.  I found one I really love, plus one less expensive one that I’ve been putting on in the mornings before the gym.  I swear, if I don’t wear mascara, I feel like I don’t look alive! Do you feel that way too??

TUBING MASCARA

Have you heard of tubing mascara? I had, but I wasn’t really sure what it was until I started doing some research.  The cool thing about tubing mascara is that wraps the mascara around your lashes forming a tube, as opposed to regular mascara that is just painted onto your lashes.

Since tubing mascara doesn’t rely on wax and pigment to stick to your lashes (which regular mascara does), it’s easier to remove.  It’s gentle on your lashes, doesn’t smudge, and when you’re ready to remove it, all you have to do is wet your fingers with warm water, then run them along your lashes.

It’s wild because the mascara simply runs down the drain, not onto your face! You don’t need any makeup remover to remove!

I tried four different brands and found two I really liked.  One is a more budget friendly option and the second is the one I’ve been wearing with my everyday makeup.

Essence Bye Bye Panda Eye

The first tubing mascara I tried was based on a review that touted it as a great budget friendly, long wearing mascara.   It’s true, the price is right and it did wear well.  I also really liked how it looked on my lashes.  It gave my lashes a very wispy quality that’s very pretty.  I’m still wearing this one in the mornings for my workouts. It did wipe off with just warm water, but it didn’t come off in “tubes” like I expected. 6,834 positive reviews

I saw it at Target for $5 here

Thrive Liquid Lash Extensions

They call this one “lash extensions in a tube” and it’s supposed to be good for those with sensitive eyes.  It goes on a little bit thick, so you only need one coat. I liked it just fine and it did come off in more of a tubing fashion.  I think it’s a good tubing mascara option, but there’s still one I felt gave bolder looking lashes.

$26-$49, depending on sale

Blinc Original Tubing Mascara

The problem I had with the Blinc Tubing Mascara was that it took a long time to dry.  And since I like to apply mascara to both the upper and lower lashes, my lashes kept sticking together for about 30 minutes until it fully dried.

Tartlette Tubing MascaraMY FAVE!

My very favorite and the winner of my tubing mascara challenge is the Tartlette Tubing Mascara.  It goes on beautifully, and gave me the full, voluminous lashes that I love.  It also lasted all day long without any smudging.  It’s also conditioning since it contains castor oil and shea butter.  Finally, it comes off cleanly with just warm water.

And, it didn’t budge at all when I went to a funeral last weekend and cried my eyes out.  I kept thinking that when I finally got to look in a mirror, surely I’d have raccoon eyes or at least some smudging – but NOTHING!  Wow!

Kleem Organics Anti Wrinkle Retinol Cream

This face cream in formulated with retinol, hyaluronic acid for anti-aging, skin firming, reducing dark spots, fine lines and sun damage. The 15,361 positive reviews made me think it was worth trying and I’ve been using it at night before bed when I’m too tired to apply several of my skincare products.  It’s one and done!

Triangle Powder Puff

I’m smitten with these little triangle powder puffs!  Not only are they super cute, they are functional for applying setting powder to you concealer.  The little triangle point lets you get perfectly in that angled area under your tear duct by your nose.

Loreal Eye Pencil

My holy grail eye liner is by Tarte and I wanted to see if I could find a less expensive version.  This one is nearly identical with the ultra fine tip that goes on smooth and continuous, so it’s easy to apply.  I hold the pencil at a horizontal angle, then gently drag it across my upper lash line.

Versed Lip Oil

You may have seen this lip oil in a recent Tuesday Goodies.  It’s so good – very moisturizing and lightweight in its formula, but it does deliver a kiss of color.  I love the color Blossom.  I originally found it at Revolve, then it sold out and I found it on Amazon.  It’s been selling out there too, but Revolve restocked.

Travel Bag

I really like how aesthetically pleasing and functional this cosmetics case is.  It’s holds a ton with specific holders for your makeup brushes.  There’s also an inner zip pocket and another zip layer underneath.

Eye Mask

As I get older – I’ll be 48 this month! I’ve been noticing the wrinkles at my under eye area.  I never really paid attention before, but suddenly, they’re all I see.  My old neighbor is a plastic surgeon and I saw him recently for botox in my jaw to help with my TMJ.

While I was there, I asked him what could I do for my under eye, and he recommended a surgical procedure called a blepharoplasty.  He actually said I’d be a good candidate for an upper and lower “bleph”

I decided not to go that route, at least for now.  But, in the meantime, I’m trying other things like under eye masks, sunscreen, getting adequate sleep, staying hydrated and being very delicate with my under eye area.

That’s one reason I wanted to try the tubing mascaras- so that I wouldn’t be rubbing mascara off of my eyes.   I’ve even been trying to put my contacts in without pulling down my under eye skin.  I can do it- I just have to be precise and careful.

All this to say, that I’ve been using these gold eye masks with collagen and amino acids every day for about a week.   They come with 20 in a pack and they say you should notice a difference in a few weeks.

You apply them to your undereye and they feel kind of slimy, but also refreshing when you apply them.  You leave them on for 15 minutes, and pat any excess product into your skin when you remove them.

I like wearing them because I feel less puffy when I take them off and I do feel fresher.  I can’t say I’ve noticed a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles, but it’s also hard to tell when you see yourself day after day.  I should take a ‘before’ pic and then an ‘after’ in a few more weeks so I can compare.

Cerave Tinted Mineral Sunscreen

I’m a big fan of every Cerave product I’ve tried and several have been recommended to me by my dermatologist.  This tinted mineral sunscreen was one recommended by a dermatologist I follow on YouTube and she said that it’s good to apply a mineral sunscreen to your undereye.  I like how this sunscreen has a light tint to it, so it evens out your skin tone when you apply it.

Cerave Healing Ointment

This healing ointment is formulated with petrolatum (vaseline) and hyaluronic acid (keeps in moisture) and ceramides (helps restore and maintain your skin’s natural barrier).  I like how it comes in a tube that squeezes out (as opposed to having to dip your hand into a jar) – and I love how heavily it moisturizes my hands before bed.  If my feet are feeling dry, I’ll also apply it to my clean feet and then wear socks to bed.  I wake up with much softer feet in the morning.
