New Living Room Tour

Hi friend! I’m really excited to invite you into our new living room today!  As you probably know, we moved into our new house about two months ago.  In those eight weeks, we’ve started to settle into our home.  It still very much has that ‘new house feel’, but we’re making it our own.

This home has an open floor plan that’s laid out in a lovely way.  I like that the living room still feels nice and cozy, even though it opens up to the kitchen and dining room.

I was so happy and relieved to realize that our sectional fit the space perfectly.  We had measured when the house was still empty and it always seemed like it was gonna be too tight.  Thankfully, it isn’t and I can still fit a coffee table on the side where I usually sit. 🙂

The wall color is Sherwin Williams Alabaster in flat and the trim is Sherwin Williams Pure White in satin.

I have the rug that was in our previous dining room on the floor.  It’s a soft chenille basketweave textured rug from Pottery Barn.

I’ve had my eye out for a round coffee table, but I do like this upholstered square coffee table/ottoman. The nailhead trim is a nice touch and the storage on the bottom is perfect for holding my journal and current book selection.  I also have a lap desk under there.

This sectional (the Pottery Barn Pearce) is a such a wonderful piece that I actually bought it twice!  The first time was a roll arm style in a beige microsuede, but this one is updated with square arms and a modern ‘performance heathered tweed ivory.’

It looks like a soft white in person and is really gorgeous.  I do keep blankets on it to prevent it from getting dirty and I don’t let the kids eat or drink on it.  No doritos fingers please!

The best part is that it’s really comfortable.  I love having the chaise lounge part and there’s plenty of room for several people to cozy up and watch a movie.

You’ll get a little peek at the sliding barn door that leads to the mudroom and the wooden ceiling beams that add character and warmth.

I’ve never had a fireplace before, so this is definitely a treat!  I can’t wait to use it in the wintertime!  I really like how it’s finished in such a minimal way.

Another cool feature is the tv wall mount that was already here when we moved in.  It’s a mantel mount that allows you to effortlessly pull the tv down to eye level.  And it also swivels!  We always watch it pulled down so we don’t have to strain our necks.

Of course, cozy blankets are always close at hand.

I’ve also had a lot of questions about the floors.  The hardwood floors are Palladio Wide Plank in color “white wash.”  Such a pretty light color and they seem to stay cleaner longer.

The cabinets that flank the fireplace are covered in a decorative gold mesh gate, if that’s what you call it.

I love the light fixtures the builder chose as well as how they finished the windows.

Behind the cabinet doors offers loads of storage that we use for board games, extra candles and vases.

Throw

Since we don’t have a cabinet or buffet behind our sofa, I layered a striped Turkish throw blanket behind it to add some visual interest.

Here’s a look at my view as I walk downstairs.  One of my favorite features is the sliding glass doors that lead out onto the patio.  They open all the way up, so you feel like you’re outside while inside.

I am truly so in love with this space and the entire house!  Every morning I sit on the chaise lounge and drink my coffee, meditate, read, write in my journal and just offer thanks for getting to live in what I feel like is such a beautiful home. I’m so grateful. ♥
