New Home Tour

Hi friend! I’m so excited to welcome you into our new home!  The ‘pinch me’ factor is still very much alive and I’m so grateful to call this place home. ♥

Today, I’m taking you room by room via my camera roll.  I snapped these pics right before we moved in. Don’t you just love when everything is still all fresh and new?!

NEW HOME TOUR

PAINT COLORS

Let’s start with paint colors because that’s always a frequently asked question, so I want to put that right at the top of this post.

Wall color is SW Alabaster (flat)

Trim color is SW Pure White (satin)

Cabinets are Magnetic Grey (eggshell)

I’m concerned about the white flat paint in the bathrooms and kids rooms, but we’ll see how it goes.  I researched the heck out of paint finishes and I know magic eraser can help clean flat walls and they’re easier to touch up.

I was already able to clean some scuffs from the move, so hopefully it’s okay. I’d love to hear your experience with flat paint if you have it in your home.

KITCHEN

It’s the heart of the home and one of the first things I fell in love with when I walked inside.  This kitchen isn’t what I would have even thought to design, but I’m smitten with every detail!

I’ll forever be a fan of all white kitchens, but I love the combination of muted blue/green grey cabinets with the light wood, white quartz counters and the contrasting black counters in this kitchen.

All of the design elements go together perfectly, along with the light fixtures and wood floors.

This is a true chef’s kitchen with Wolf Sub-Zero appliances, fancier than anything I’d need since I’m no chef!  Having a pot filler at the stove will be very handy though! The refrigerator and dishwasher have cabinet fronts that gives the kitchen a streamlined look.

I do enjoy the soft-close drawers and under cabinet lighting.  And that back part takes the place of the wet bar I had in my old house.  There’s a wine fridge, ice maker, sink and additional storage there.

Plus, I’m so excited to decorate that open shelving!

There’s a large walk-in pantry with a wooden shelf, pull out drawers and a ladder since I’d never be able to reach those tall shelves!  I think they’re 11 feet tall??

I’m so excited for all the natural light this home has and I love how the windows are framed. All of the light fixtures are from M&M Lighting.

The living room is smaller than our old house, but I think it will be cozy! There’s a wall mount for the TV and it lowers so you can watch your shows at eye level.

I like that there’s still storage in the cabinets and I’ve never had a fireplace before.  That will be awesome in the winter!

The sliding barn door is on gold hardware and leads to a mudroom with tall cabinets and lots of additional storage.

The half bath downstairs is finished with the grasscloth wallpaper I’ve always admired, gorgeous lighting, a wall mounted sink with gold legs and eye catching tile.

I’m crazy for all the light fixtures they chose, I couldn’t have picked better!

MY OFFICE

I’m sure this space was meant as a game room, but it’s now my office!  It’s nice and big and the natural light is amazing!  Plus, those vaulted ceilings!

LAUNDRY ROOM

This will be a bigger laundry room than I’ll ever need, but I’ll take it!  There’s tons of extra storage in here too.  I ended up swapping out the washer and dryer you see here for the ones at my old house since they are brand new and on pedestals.

LINEN CLOSET

There’s a tall linen closet with adjustable shelves in the hallway.  I’ve paired way down on our extra blankets and throw pillows, so this is plenty of space for us.

All of the details in the house from the doors to the door hardware, I’m smitten with.

I’ve also already come to enjoy the Nest thermostat.  It’s pretty and works really well!

BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS

The house has five bedrooms, one on the first floor and four upstairs.

This bedroom has it’s own bathroom and I’m crazy for the tile they chose and the finishes. It’s hard to tell from the photos, but the tile and mirror frame are navy blue, not black.

BEDROOM

The other two upstairs bathrooms share this Jack & Jill bath.  How cool is that tile floor and double sink?!

PRIMARY BEDROOM

This room is actually larger than my old bedroom, minus the sitting room.  It also feels larger because of the raised ceilings.  Those planks are mimicked in the dining room and stairwell to tie it all together.

PRIMARY BATHROOM

The bathroom finishes are gorgeous too, everything from the dual head shower to the double vanities.  There’s also an extra vanity for me to do my makeup at.

PRIMARY CLOSET

This closet is about the same size as my old closet, but doesn’t have a center island.  It does have taller clothing racks and shelves, plus the pull down shelves (but I can’t even reach those handles).  When Rhonda walked in, she said she didn’t think there was gonna be any room left for Brian! ha!

Y’all, I honestly still cannot believe we live here and this is our house.  I don’t mean to be dramatic, it’s just more than I ever dreamed of and I’m so grateful.  I still remember living in tiny apartments as a kid and sharing a room with my brother.  Good memories were born out of those hard times and I look back on them with fondness.  My parents worked so hard to give us the best of what they could.

I love that my own kids and mom will get to enjoy this house for years to come.  It’s not just the beautiful parts, but the love we’ll pour into it that makes it special.

James and Jordan are thrilled with their rooms and I’m starting to get comfortable with where everything is and how everything works.

You know how things are different from home to home like the way the microwave works, the thermostat, the shower, and which light switch operates which lights.  I’m still surprised every time I walk into my closet and the light turns on automatically!  That’s a fun feature!

I’m so thankful for your genuine happiness for our family and that’s why I wanted to get this new home tour up as soon as possible to share with you.  I shared a video tour on Instagram, but I know some of you don’t have that.

I’m still trying to find out more details like what kind/color of wood floors these are and any other details y’all are interested in.  Let me know in comments and I can research!  I’m really excited to take you along as I decorate each room!

  4. Thank you so much for sharing all the wonderful details of your home. It is stunning! I have no words how to describe it. I’m curious though what color is the front door? The reason I ask is because it is so inviting. It sets the tone for what you are about to enter into which is a mix of magical casual elegance! I, like many of your followers can’t wait to see how you decorate and make it your own. Congratulations! So deserving!

    1. Hi Tina! The front door is the same as the kitchen cabinets, Sherwin Williams Magnetic Grey. Choosing paint color can be so hard, I’m glad I love everything they chose!

Also, the primary bathroom shower details! Annnnd curious per your comment – will your mom be living with you and the kiddos? Beautiful home! Congrats again!

  10. Megan!!! Every detail is stunning. I am over the moon for you and this next chapter. Wowza on all of the tile floors and lighting. I can hear the memories being made already. Enjoy every second of getting settled. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

  11. What an absolutely beautiful home! As far as the flat paint on the walls…I honestly can’t believe the builder chose a flat finish. You will most certainly want to changes that down the line. It’s terrible for wear and tear and anything and everything will scuff it terribly.

  12. Absolutely beautiful! I saw the tour on IG and couldn’t wait to read this post. So excited to see how you decorate everything. I’m sure you and your family will make many wonderful memories in your new home! Congrats!!

  13. This is a beautiful home. I’m so happy for you. We bought a new home 5 years ago and didn’t know it had flat paint. It’s horrible. Just moving in we got scuff marks everywhere.

  14. Gorgeous! I cannot wait to see it decorated and with all your furniture. 5 bedrooms is pretty amazing too! Plenty of room for any expansions haha. As for flat paint. Alabaster is beautiful and you will love that nice creamy color as you decorate. But for us, we’ve had two new homes with flat paint. We needed to paint within a year. I recommend eggshell for colored walls but satin for white or very light color walls. So happy for you!

  15. Love your new home. Congratulations. A fresh start for you and your family . Can’t wait to see how you decorate and enjoy the journey. We have flat paint in our home. I love it. I think it depends if they used a good quality paint. Our builder used a top notch paint and it has worn well for 17 years with kids and pets. We love the no sheen look and aren’t happy when we repaint with something else. I don’t use anything abrasive just a damp cloth .
Good luck and Blessings all that enter your loving home.?

  16. Congratulations—so thrilled for you! It’s all SO beautiful!! Have so much fun making it your own and I can’t wait to see all that you do to make it yours!

    1. I love your lighting choices! I’ve scoured M&M lighting but can’t seem to find the exact chandelier you having in your living room (the pic with the fireplace) – would you mind sharing the brand or a link to the exact one?

  19. Absolutely beautiful new home! It sounds like you all have settled in nicely. The kitchen is my very favorite room!

  23. Your home is absolutely gorgeous!!! It’s so crazy how quickly you found it and moved in…which means it was totally meant to be ?? I share in your excitement as my husband and I just completed building our custom dream home and moved in about 3 weeks ago. It has been a total nightmare of a process for the past 2 years (the worst time to build). But, by the Grace of God…we made it through and I truly love the outcome and how it was built specifically for us. So happy for you that you found your dream home without the stress of building. Can’t wait to see you put your stamp on it! Congratulations to you and your family and all of the great memories to come ❤️

  24. Long time follower & first time commenter:) Your new home is absolutely gorgeous. We have built 4 custom homes and our preference is flat on the walls and gloss on the trim I just love the contrast and the no sheen on the walls. We use SW’s highest quality paint. Current walls are going strong and look amazing. We have 6 boys and obviously have had to scrub those walls at times. I think you’ll love the modern, flat look.

  25. Absolutely beautiful. You are blessed! I also would love to know about the bedroom floors(the light ones) brand and color . Enjoy waiting for your posts everyday.

  26. We are painting our house and the top contender is alabaster! We also have floors that look very similar to yours. Core Tech LVP in Ivory Coast Oak. This was so helpful. It looks warm in the pictures. Does it ever feel too stark to have alabaster everywhere?

  27. Such a beautiful find. You mentioned before you really love this builders work but they only build a few homes at a time. Do you mind sharing who the builder is?
I hope to one day find the perfect home as you did.
    Also love your blog!

    1. Congratulations! I love everything about your new home! I was also wondering who the builder is. We live in North Dallas so am not holding my breath that they are building here as well.

  28. Oh my goodness- what a stunning home! And I know it’ll be more beautiful as you put your personal decorating touches on it too 🙂 Thank you for sharing with us! I am excited for the links to come, especially for the light fixture in your office- I need that in my home too!! ❤️

  29. Beautiful home! I know you will decorate it beautifully. I am so happy for you and your family. May God continue to bless you abundantly.

  30. Its SO beautiful! Congratulations! I want a pretty house, I live the life of a remodeling contractors wife.. whose husband is always making other peoples houses beautiful and is too tired to make our house nice when he comes home. I suppose I need to hire him in order for our house to be worked on, Ha!

  31. So happy and excited for you! Your new house is gorgeous! I wish you many years of happiness and sweet memories in your new home!

  32. Congratulations! The house is beautiful and I can’t wait to see how you decorate it. Please include a picture of the makeup vanity in the master bath. I have one but am considering removing it to have a bigger vanity. Maybe I will be inspired to keep it!

I’m so happy for you guys!

  33. Beautiful home Megan! I agree with Sue as far as the kids need a dog or a cat. Every child should have one. 🙂

  34. Your home is beautiful! What is the brand of wall mount that you have installed over the fireplace in your living room?

    1. Hi Gerri! I’m not sure, I’ll try to see if I can find it on the mount. I’ll have a living room tour coming up on Thursday, so I’ll try to include that info in there. It’s super handy because the tv pulls down easily to eye level and it can also swivel.
