A Luxe Tablescape and Everything is from Walmart

Hi friend! Can you believe we’re nearly halfway through October already?  I really love this time of year and the change of seasons is so welcomed after a brutally hot summer.  Houston is supposed to be getting a cool front this weekend and we are so excited for it!  Bring on the jeans, booties and sweaters!

I’ve been showing you bits of my Fall decor and today I’m inviting you into our dining room!  I’ve decked the table out for Fall, and it may just stay this way for Thanksgiving.

Everything on my table is from Walmart and I had fun choosing pieces that are both beautiful and functional.  I’ve shopped the Walmart Home department online at Walmart for Fall decor and for my son’s room, and now for my dining room.  I’m loving how it turned out and excited to share it with you!

This spotted dinnerware was the jumping off point for the design of the table.  They remind me of Kate Spade with the black dots and gold rim.  They’re so gorgeous in person, with a nice weight to them and they come in a set of 12: four dinner plates, four salad plates, and four bowls.

I bought two sets so that I’d have enough for a party of six.

I was also surprised that this dinnerware is dishwasher and microwave safe.  Often, things that have gold on them aren’t able to be put in the microwave and that’s a bummer since I like to meal prep and reheat my meals.  But, this set is safe in both the dishwasher (who wants to hand wash?!) and microwave!

It’s also a great deal at under $50 for the set!  I’ve seen similar for much more at other places.

Continuing with the black and gold theme, I finally bought a set of black flatware I’d been eyeing forever.  I have a gold set, but the black is so chic and modern, especially in this simple design.  It says they’re satin, but they look more on the matte side to me, which is even better!

The flatware is a 20 piece set, service for 4 and comes with a dinner knife, dinner fork, salad fork, and dinner spoon.

Thinking ahead to Thanksgiving, I found these darling gold napkin rings that have various sentiments of thanks inscribed on them.  They say, “Thankful, Give Thanks, Blessed, and Grateful.”

Wanting the black and white dinnerware to be the star, I chose simple, neutral cloth napkin in “natural”.  These babies are sturdy and will be used year round.  A set of 6 was under $16!

I brought in a pop of color with the amber colored taper candles.  I usually go with white or off white, but I love the way the colorful candles jazz up the table.

I found the sleek black and gold candle holders at Walmart too.  At first, I didn’t think the candles would fit inside because the base appeared wider than the candle holder, but I just pressed down hard and they fit perfectly!

As additional layering and to add some greenery to the table, I used faux olive branches and ran them along the table runner.  You could also put those in a vase for additional height on your table.

I am crazy for the matte black vase and vase filler.  I love how wild natural the pampas grass looks in the vase.  It came with other stems that I used elsewhere in the house and just kept the pampas grass in the 8-inch vase.

I also needed new drinking glasses and found this set of 8 for just $14 and they hold 16 ounces.

And guess what? Those black and gold charger plates are plastic!  Yep!  I couldn’t find anything I wanted that wasn’t really expensive, so I took a chance and ordered these and they are perfect!  You can’t even tell the material unless you touch them! They’re the perfect accent to the dinnerware and didn’t cost a fortune!

Now I can’t wait to have Brian and his girls over for dinner and we may just host Thanksgiving dinner here!  I like how natural everything looks, but there’s also a touch of glam in the tiny bits of gold!

WALMART DECOR FINDS

While shopping for my Thanksgiving dining table, I came across so many more cute decor finds that I wanted to share with you! Aren’t these pieces pretty?!  Especially the pink spotted pillow and I’m loving that beaded round mirror and gold bamboo frame.

The insulated wine glasses will keep your drink cold and I think I may have to buy those serving spoons!

  1. Hi Megan! That table is gorgeous and I also love your skirt. Could you turn it and wear it with the high part in front and low part in back, or is there a seam preventing that? Does it look right if you turn it?
