Get Ready With Me & Makeup Sale

Hi friends!  I hope your week is off to a great start!  I had a super busy Monday, starting with my favorite workout class and followed by trying to get all.the.things done, and squeeze in a doctor’s appointment!  Remind me not to make doctor’s appointments on a Monday please!

Today, I’m inviting you to get ready with me and I’m sharing my everyday makeup routine, plus a Tarte Makeup Sale!  Many of the products I use daily to pretty myself up are from Tarte, and I feel good knowing that their brand is female founded and their products are always cruelty-free.

Their products are made with ingredients that are good for your skin; things like fruit and plant extracts and they also have vegan-friendly options.  You’ll never find any parabens, mineral oil (that always breaks out my skin!), phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate & gluten in their products.

GET READY WITH ME

Now let’s get to the makeup and my everyday routine!

Get Ready With Me

I start with clean skin, and have already applied my Vitamin C serum, moisturizer and sunscreen.

I pin my hair back with these no-bend hair clips from Amazon and they don’t leave any crimp in your hair while you apply your makeup.

The first step in my makeup routine is concealer.  Some people like to apply concealer after foundation, but I prefer to apply it before.

I’m so happy Tarte came out with a creamy formula for their cult favorite Shape Tape concealer.  The original formula is great for younger skin, but looked and felt too heavy on my skin.  This creamy formula doesn’t make me look 106, instead it brightens my undereyes and highlights the bridge of my nose, without settling into my fine lines.

Pro Tip: A little goes a long way, so start sparingly because it’s easier to add than take away.

I apply a few dots under my eyes and along my nose, then blend it out with the Foundcealer Brush. I found that I like using this brush better than my sponges.

I don’t regularly wear foundation, but I used this at the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum photo shoot last week and felt great in it!  It blurred out all the imperfections in my skin and evened out my skin tone, making it the perfect backdrop for the rest of my makeup.

P.S.  The Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Summer collection launches tomorrow and I can’t wait to share it with you!  I think you’re really gonna love these pieces!

I skipped contour and highlighter today, but when I do that, I use this duo.  On most days, I just use pressed powder and feel like it provides plenty of coverage.  It also helps control the oil on my skin.

I was so excited to try this bronzer, and I love the sun-kissed glow it gives!  I used a big, fluffy brush to sweep it over my cheekbones, forehead and nose- all the places the sun would naturally hit your face.

I’ve been using the Tartelette In Bloom Clay eyeshadow palette almost exclusively since I got it.  It has every neutral shade you need with matte and shimmer colors.  My go-to eye combo for creating depth with a bit of highlight is to apply “charmer” a matte off white to the entire lid.

Then, I use “smarty pants” a matte tan in the crease of my lid.  I apply the shadow in a “>” shape, using windshield wiper motions to help blend it.

The last step is “funny girl” a champagne shimmer, and I apply that to my lower lid for a pop of sheen.

Even though I have microbladed brows, it’s been several years and I still fill them in.  I’m currently using this brow pencil and the little spoolie at the end is so convenient.

I really like the dual tip on this eyeliner.  You get a fine waterproof liquid liner that isn’t too difficult to apply and the other side is a gel eyeliner.  I like to line my upper lid with the liquid liner.  Applying the liquid liner to the top, right near the last line makes your lashes look even lusher.  This liquid liner is easy to apply and dries instantly, so there’s no smudges.

I’m using the brown shade for a softer look than black.

I used the gel pencil to line my bottom lash line and then softened it with a small brush so there were no harsh lines.

I love big, bold lashes and this 3-step combo works wonders.  First, curl your lashes with a lash curler.  I start at the bottom, near my lash line and hold gently for a few seconds, then move the lash curler up up the middle of the lashes and hold again.

Second, always apply a lash primer to your lashes before mascara.  This one by Lancome is so good.  It goes on white, but dries clear.

Then, the Big Ego Mascara by Tarte gives you lashes for days with just one coat.  I like how the wand is designed to coat every last.

I can’t believe I used to skip blush for so many years!  Now, I think it looks so much better to add a little rosy glow to your cheeks.

I’m so ready to take my lips from dead to alive!  I’m wearing this lip gloss that’s supposed to add a bit of plumpness to your lips.  It tingles when you apply it, and I love the ‘color flash’ color.

And here ya go!  From bare faced to prettied up with makeup!  I always feel more productive and confident when I take a few minutes to get ready for the day.  Even if I don’t wear a full face of makeup, I always at least wear mascara- unless I’m going to the gym. 😉

  1. You are a natural beauty! Just wondering – maybe you can answer on stories – if you prefer liquid eyeliner over pencil. I’ve never had any luck with liquid (always smearing or more challenging to get even with other eye), so I always use pencil. What is your secret in getting such a balanced look?
