Houston Update & Amazon Fashion Faves
Hi friends! It’s SO good to be back here with you for a brand new week with power, heat and water! Last week definitely took a toll on us, but thankfully, things are pretty well back to normal for us. ♥ I know lots of people are still feeling the effects of the storm with broken water pipes, school cancelled, and all the things that have gone along with this unprecedented Texas weather event.
It’s been heartwarming to see us all pull together to help each other and, if you missed it, I shared a list of resources and links to help in my weekend newsletter. Our family donated to the Houston Food Bank, where just $1 provides three meals.
We were without power for three days and also lost water. When the water finally returned, we were so ecstatic to be able to take showers! Then, wash dishes! At first, there was a boil water notice, but that has since been lifted in Houston. Many schools are closed this week, but thankfully, ours is open and the kids went back today.
It just feels good to have some sense of normalcy returning, even if we are still in the midst of a global pandemic. But, one crisis at a time, please!
THANK YOU so much for checking on us and wishing us well. Y’all even sent the sweetest birthday messages to me and Jordan. I stood in line in the freezing cold at the grocery store so that I could buy a cake for her and get some water (they were out) and food like bread and peanut butter. But it was worth it!
Jordan had a lovely little celebration with just our family, cake, and a sweet balloon garland. She had more fun popping the balloons and her and James played “keep the balloon up” all weekend.
My birthday was Saturday and Brian and I were able to go to a nice dinner and the wine went down pretty easily! We went to Bludorn and all of the dishes are creative and delicious, plus the atmosphere has a cool, upbeat vibe. It felt great to do my hair and put on some makeup!
To top it all off, my girlfriends threw me the most beautiful brunch on Sunday and I couldn’t even believe they pulled it off after the week we’ve had! They really went out of their way to make sure I felt special and I appreciate them so very much. Most of us met when our kids started preschool together and now they’re in 5th grade!
It was cathartic to get together and share our stories and experiences from the week and see each other in person. I don’t mean to sound dramatic, but those days without power and water in chilling temps, and the uncertainty of not knowing how long it would go on, was so stressful on all of us. By the time we knew we were safe and sound again with heat, power, and water, we were wiped! The worry of it all was exhausting.
I’m so thankful that it’s mostly behind us and now we’re strong enough to be able to give and serve others. If you know of a family in need, please email me and I’ll see how I can help! honeywerehomeblog@gmail.com
Today, we’re turning the page back to some regular, hopefully fun, content for you! The Amazon post I had planned for last week is live today!
Before I share the new pieces, here are your faves from my last Amazon post:

AMAZON FASHION FAVES
Jewelry Worn: Wrap Bracelet • Similar Necklace • Feather Earrings
For Size Reference: I’m a shorty (5’1) and petite, weighing about 110. I typically wear size 0p/25 jeans, XS in tops and dresses.
I’m still crazy for these high waist skinny jeans and the dark wash is so nice. I feel like they make my legs look longer and I need all the help I can get in that department. They’re incredibly comfortable with just the right amount of stretch. I like them so much that I also bought them in the light wash and you’ll see those later in this post.
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25 Short and cut the length
This pullover has a retro vibe with a three-button front and collar. I like the ribbed texture and stripes, but it also comes in solids. It would be great for work with slacks too.
Top Fit: I’m wearing an XS
Sweater • Jeans • Booties • Belt
This crop sweater is so cute and the aqua color is really pretty. It also laces up the back, which is a fun detail. It runs small though, so I’d like it better a size up.
Sweater Fit: I’m wearing an XS – Small, I’d recommend sizing up
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25 Short
Sweater • Jeans • Booties • Belt
Sweater • Jeans • Booties • Crossbody
This long sweater tunic is giving me Spring vibes for sure! It’s a vibrant pink which lends itself to March, but it’s also nice and warm! It’s a well-made cable knit and comes in lots of colors.
Sweater Fit: I’m wearing an XS
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25 Short
Sweater • Jeans • Booties • Crossbody
Bodysuit • Puffer Jacket • Jeans • Booties
I’m crazy for this bright pink puffer jacket. I have the same one in black and it’s so cool because it’s packable, folds up into a tiny pouch you can easily travel with or throw into your bag. It’s got zip front pockets and an inside pocket, plus a hoodie.
Bodysuit Fit: I’m wearing a Small
Puffer Fit: I’m wearing an XS
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25 Short
Here’s a better look at the bodysuit I’m wearing, but I wasn’t crazy about it. I felt like it was too short waisted for me, although I do appreciate the full, snap bottom.
I do really like this tank. It’s got a lovely detail and seems more expensive than it is with a smocked chest and ruffled collar and sleeves. It fits a bit oversized, the Small was way too roomy on me if I didn’t do a front tuck.
Top Fit: I’m wearing a Small, prefer XS
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25 Short
Sweater • Jeans • Booties • Crossbody
This crewneck sweater reminds me of one I got at Loft recently. It’s got a bouncy texture and a punchy pink hue.
Sweater Fit: I’m wearing an XS
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25 Short
Sweater • Jeans • Heels • Crossbody
And here’s a good look at the light wash, high waist jeans. I like the light blue color and they are the same comfortable, flattering high waist as the darker blue.
Sweater Fit: I’m wearing an XS
Jeans FitL I’m wearing a 25 Short
This sweater is so sweet with the puff sleeves and pretty white color. It can be worn long or folder under for a shorter length look.
Sweater • Jeans • Heels • Crossbody
I’m kinda ‘meh’ on this top. Perhaps if it fit me better, I’d like it more. It’s a ribbed, waffle knit pullover and I do appreciate the stitch at the chest to keep it from gaping open. It also has a balloon sleeve.
Top Fit: I’m wearing a Small
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing an XS
A big YES to this fleece pullover! I love the light grey color and it’s so warm and well made. It’s got a quarter zip front and zip pockets and goes with everything!
Pullover Fit: I’m wearing a Small
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25 Short
I almost forgot St. Patrick’s Day is coming up! I’ll give a nod to the day with a fun tee like this one that says Lucky!
Tee Fit: I’m wearing a Small
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25 Short
I really like this lace trim tank. It’s nice and long and makes a great layering piece.
Top Fit: I’m wearing a Small
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25 Short
Top • BP Cardigan • Jeans • Booties
It’s great worn under a cardigan.

And that little bit of lace peeking out looks romantic under a v-neck sweater.
Top Fit: I’m wearing a Small
Tunic Fit: I’m wearing a S/M
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25 Short
This ‘sweater’ is part of a pj set, but I thought it made a cute top!
Sweater Fit: I’m wearing a Small and comes in a set with Shorts
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25 Short
Isn’t this pajama set cute?! You can wear the top on or off the shoulder and the shorts have a functional tie waist.
Sweater Set is a Small

Now let’s go kick Monday’s booty!
I bet your freezing house smelled good with all of those candles 🙂 You should get the picture of your house in the snow painted! It’s so pretty! Have a great week!
Wow Sarah, I believe you skipped over the heart of Megan’s post. She spoke of donating and helping others way before mentioning a birthday dinner. I’m in the Houston area as well and our schools were all shut down last week. Millions in Texas were without power in a state not built to withstand such low temps, just as cold climates regions are not meant to withstand our blistering heat! So many families were without water, internet or cell service meaning limited ways to check on friends, family, or receive news updates. When things finally opened back up after power was restored, many (myself included!) were happy to get out of the house and support local businesses after a rough week of low to no sales. I commend my community for not only giving selflessly but trying to restore normalcy and give to the local economy!
We are on the same page Nancy! You get it! Thank you for being here and taking the time to comment!
So glad you are okay! I live in the midwest, and we were concerned for those in Texas and other states dealing with the cold and snow. It’s not about comparison. Glad you could enjoy birthdays with loved ones. Yay for things getting back to some kind of normal! Thanks for your caring heart and positive attitude!
Megan- you are such a classy woman. I admire how you handle yourself with grace, you handled the above commenter so appropriately- take care!
Just wow, Megan. You get some real babes on this site sometimes. Just keep smiling and living your life. You are a real treasure, girl.
Love you back girl!
Here in Montana we’ve had a bizarrely mild winter.
I loved your recommendation on the jeans. I ordered Daily Ritual Women’s Standard Mid-Rise Skinny Jean and I absolutely love them. Thank you for your Blog. You’re definitely a bright spot in my day.
