Good morning friends! Welcome to a brand new week! We had a wonderful weekend and totally unplugged on Saturday. I packed up the kiddos and we went to Galveston for the day. It’s an easy trip since it’s just an hour car ride away. The weather was cooler than I expected, but we still really enjoyed it.
It’s kind of funny how when we first got there I had a bit of an uneasy feeling like “well, what are we going to do for the next several hours??” We only had a couple of sand toys and boogie boards and the water was chilly. But the kids dug right in and had a blast! There were a couple boys there around James’ age and they played soccer on the beach together. Jordan and I buried each other’s feet in the sand.
It made me realize (again) how little we need to have fun and that kids can create their own kind of fun without very much. And, getting out in nature is so important!
Part of the time I just sat on a chair and watched and took it all in and my heart was so full and happy! ♥
We brought lunch and snacks and just made a picnic out of it. Then of course, we drove to The Strand to my favorite candy shop, LA Kings Confectionery and got ice cream. The mocha chip is my fave!
There’s also a darling toy store on the strand and James got these. He’s been wanting them since last year, and he’s been playing with them nonstop, creating different things and making up new shapes.
It was a great day and we all slept like champs that night!
Now that our dining room is complete, I can’t wait to celebrate Thanksgiving here! Today, I have two different Thanksgiving tablescapes to share with you. Both looks were created with things I already had and a few new orders on Amazon Prime.
The first look is more modern with a black and white color palette and the second is more traditional, full of Autumn colors. I can’t wait to hear which one you prefer!
THANKSGIVING TABLE #1 | MODERN STYLE
Black Charger • Dinner Plates • Eucalyptus Garland • Thankful Napkins •Napkin Rings • Stripe Table Runner • Goblets • Gold Flatware • Tall Candlesticks • Thankful Platter • Water Glasses • Faux Pumpkins
This first look was inspired by the black and white stripe table runner. It’s a sturdy canvas material and the stripes are about 1 inch wide- such a classic look. I like this runner because I could see using it for various other combos in the future with other accessories.
I thought the black charger plates with the beaded rim looked great with the runner. The chargers also have a cross stitch pattern on them that gives them more texture.
I ordered these Thankful Napkins but they arrived after I snapped these photos. I love the cursive font and sentiments on them. These ‘thankful’ napkins are from years ago and I got them at Crate & Barrel. I found similar ones on Amazon though!
The faux eucalyptus garland brought in a pop of green and added more texture to the table. I added some mini white/gold pumpkins and real pinecones to the mix. You could also layer in real eucalyptus or other greenery for a more natural feel, and it would smell great!
These gold candlesticks might be my favorite! They are so awesome!
First, they come with the real wax candle and gold base, but they are battery operated! You’ll need 2 AAA batteries for each, and you just push the lighted part down to turn them on. They also come with a little remote so you can operate them with the touch of a button!
You’ll get a pack of 6 in an order and they look so good on the table! I also appreciate how the candle “burns” a white light, instead of orange/yellow.
Black Charger • Dinner Plates • Eucalyptus Garland • Thankful Napkins •Napkin Rings • Stripe Table Runner • Goblets • Gold Flatware • Tall Candlesticks • Thankful Platter • Water Glasses • Faux Pumpkins
Isn’t this Thankful Platter fun?! It’s a big (19×15″) ceramic platter that’s perfect for Thanksgiving on into Christmas. The ‘thankful’ letters are hand painted and the platter is microwave and dishwasher safe. It makes such a great display and for adding all your yummy goodies onto!
THANKSGIVING TABLE #2 | TRADITIONAL STYLE
Part of me always looks forward to those traditional Fall colors – the warm reds, oranges and yellows that signify Autumn. The warm hued table runner inspired this tablescape, and a few new things (the flatware holders and gold rimmed chargers being my faves!) complete the look.
Dinner Plates • Candlesticks • Thankful Platter • Water Glasses • Tall Candlesticks • Leaf Garland • Gold Flatware • Silverware Sleeve • Gold Trim Charger Plate • Napkin • Plaid Runner
I’m so smitten with the flatware sleeves (similar here). They’re made of sturdy craft paper and can be reused if you’re careful with them. But, they come in a pack of 36, so you’ll definitely have enough.
I’m getting ahead of myself, but the Christmas sleeves are so cute too!
I used the same Thankful platter and it coordinates perfectly with these colors. I also added in faux apples to bring out the red in this table.
I’m not sure the leaf garland I got is the best I’ve seen, but it does the job. I think it would be pretty to layer in another branch of berries or something to make it look more realistic. But you get the idea.

The Gold Trim Charger Plate are gorgeous, and it’s hard to tell, but they are a very soft blue/grey with a gold trim. And I always like to bring in the accent color with glassware. These drinking glasses dress up the table a bit, but they’re not delicate- they’re very substantial.
I love the traditional plaid runner. It looks so similar to the one I had years ago from Pottery Barn, but much less expensive. The quality is on point and the colors are so pretty!
Dinner Plates • Candlesticks • Thankful Platter • Water Glasses • Tall Candlesticks • Leaf Garland • Gold Flatware • Silverware Sleeve • Gold Trim Plate • Napkin • Plaid Runner
I kept the same candlesticks and white dinner plates that go with virtually any table decor.
Amazon Sweater (latest Amazon fashion faves here) • Jeans
And if you’re looking for a good Sav Blanc, we like this one Whitehaven, from New Zealand. I don’t know a lot about wine, but it’s good and under $15! I’m not a big drinker, but definitely enjoy a glass or two on occasion, and pretty much every weekend I don’t have the kids and get to see Brian.
So funny how I’m lookin’ at that glass of wine like, I’d like to drink you right now! Ha! But is was morning when we took these pics, so back into the bottle it went!
This top actually twists off, but I have a very cool wine bottle opener that I highly recommend. Cork Pops is the fastest, easiest way to open a bottle of wine without fail and without any bits of cork ending up in your bottle.
You just insert the needle into wine cork and push the top button. The cork will easily pop up! It comes with a replaceable cartridge that will open approximately 60 bottles of wine. I gave this to Brian (along with his favorite wine from the vineyard) for his birthday and he LOVED IT!
THANKSGIVING TABLE ALL ON PRIME
I made a collage so you could see how all the pieces fit together. The top is the modern option, and the bottom is the more traditional colors. Which one do you prefer??

I like that one too!
What size are you wearing in the orange sweater from the ‘traditional’ table setting?
Author
Hi Rosanna, I’m wearing S/M
What is the source for the small gold rim, black patterned accent plates? They make the table. Just gorgeous.
Author
Hi Kimberly! I tried to find those, but they were too old, from Target!
Thank you so much for checking. I appreciate it.
I absolutely love the black and white tablescape! Will you please share where the small patterned plates are from?
Author
Thanks so much Lauren! Those are from Target years ago!
Both are lovely. I might try a third version using the black dinnerware/green glasses with the fall colored runner and centerpiece. I can never make up my mind!

So many options!
Loved this post! I’ve had a tough time getting excited for the holidays, knowing that many “traditions” will have to change due to COVID and just generally processing the choas of our world today. But this post made me eager to celebrate and of course reminded me to be thankful for all the beautiful blessings.
