Hi friends, welcome back and thank you so much for being here. I know this has been an emotional week for many of us. Lots of us are feeling weary and drained and all I can think is, if that is how I feel now after just one week of all this attention on race and social injustice, imagine how the people who have been experiencing racism their WHOLE LIVES must feel.
No wonder people are pissed off.
And hurting.
It’s starting to sink in on another level.
I used to think that I wasn’t part of the problem because I have real life black friends that I absolutely adore and so do my kids. But, I realize now that I haven’t fully appreciated what black people have been going through and that I really haven’t heard them fully before now. My eyes and ears and heart have been opened. I’m willing to learn. I want to help. I will do better. I’m questioning my own unconscious role in all of this.
I used to think, I don’t want to mention racism to my kids because I never even want them to know that’s a thing. I didn’t want to introduce the ‘idea’ that some people treat other people poorly based on their skin pigment to my kids. Then, I heard a black parent say that she doesn’t have the option of not teaching her kids about it. Of course, she has to protect them. As a fellow mother, that really hit home for me. That’s the difference. And it’s not fair or right.
I will read, educate myself and my kids, vote, give and pray. I believe in the good of all people. I believe God can heal our broken and hurting world and completely turn it around. I know that each generation that comes after us will be better than before and that gives me hope for a just future. A future that is starting NOW.
With coronavirus, we had to learn to adapt to a ‘new normal’ and we’ll continue to do so with our eyes wide open to social injustice. These are good things, but they come with growing pains. I hope we can allow each other GRACE while we learn and grow and perhaps stumble along the way.
Let’s not be divided any further when our hearts are really in the same place. We are all so much more similar than we are different. We want to be safe, seen, valued and heard. We want to live our lives to the fullest and to raise happy and healthy kids. We want to experience love and joy and without being shamed or judged.
I hope that we emerge from this UNITED and STRONGER than ever before. The enemy would love these topics and discussions to divide us, but we won’t let it. Love always wins.
I had more posts planned for this week, but ended up taking the time off to pause and reflect and let other conversations take precedence. These conversations aren’t reserved for one Tuesday in time. May they continue and bring healing to the world.
Today, I have a brand new Amazon post for you and I hope it provides a bit of levity in your life. Of course, fashion is frivolous. It’s not meant to change the world. But there’s no denying how good you can feel when you’re rockin’ an outfit you feel amazing in! Am I right?!
AMAZON TOP 5
But first, here are your most recent Top Amazon faves.
Skinny Jeans • Sun Hat • Lace Top • Tunic Dress • Jumpsuit • Kids Knives
Skinny Jeans • These jeans have been a favorite for years! I’m so happy they are still in stock and in lots of colors. They are a true skinny jean with lots of stretch. I wear them casually with flats, but they’re always a go-to for a night out with heels. They fit TTS, I wear a 25.
Sun Hat • Another favorite for year is this hat, and we’re bringing it back for fun in the sun. I love that it shiels my face, but also looks super cute on. You can adjust the size to fit your head and it’s virtually indestructible!
Lace Top • A crisp, white top for summer and the detail on this one is gorgeous.
Tunic Dress • How fun is this tunic dress and especially in the black and white gingham?! Pair it with wedge sandals for a fun weekend look.
Jumpsuit • All about comfort in this tie waist jumpsuit. It snaps closed at the chest and I dig the wide crop leg.
Kids Knives • Jordan loves using these kid-friendly knives (with supervision, of course). They are perfect for little chefs in training.
AMAZON FASHION FAVES
For Size Reference: I’m a shorty (5’1) and petite, weighing about 110. I typically wear size 0p/25 jeans, XS or XSP in tops and dresses. Lots of times the smallest size on Amazon is a Small, so in that case, that’s what I ordered.
Striped Peplum Top • White Denim Jeans • Clear Sandals • Woven Clutch
Let’s start with the cutest of the cute! Anyone feelin’ a date night or evening out in the near future would be so cute in this outfit! Out of the box, the top looked difficult to wear, but it’s not! It’s a simple one shoulder top that zips up on the side, and there’s a comfortable elastic band around the back that keeps it in place. And, you can wear a strapless bra with it and it won’t show.
The peplum part is so flattering and it ties around your waist in the front or back. The light blue and white seersucker stripes are timeless. For a modern edge, I paired the top with my fave white skinny jeans from Amazon. These are nice and opaque with a raw edge hem and slight distressing.
Top Fit: I’m wearing a Small
Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25/0
White Cami • Wide Leg Cropped Jean • Snake Skin Sandals • Belt
Are we digging the wide leg, crop denim trend?! #raiseshand! Just make sure they fit you well – not too baggy in the waist because the fitted waist with a tucked in top and wedge heels is a great look! If the jeans are too loose, they’ll end up looking frumpy.
This pair of jeans is a pretty, light wash with a button fly. Since they have a raw edge hem, you can easily trim them with sharp scissors to take some length off if you need it. I’m 5’1, so I’ll probably cut these about an inch to show more ankle.
White Cami • Wide Leg Cropped Jean • Belt
How fun is this cami?! I like the sassy style and touch of sheerness along the v-neck. The shoulders are adjustable and my strapless bra isn’t showing through.
Cami Fit : TTS, I’m wearing size Small, prefer XS
Jean Fit: I’m wearing a 25
V-Neck Sports Tee • White Denim Shorts • Platform Sandals
We’re definitely all about shorts here in Houston lately because our temps have been close to the 90s! I like this cutoff pair in a creamy white color. They aren’t bright white (like my bedspread), they’re more soft off-white.
Sadly, our baseball season got cut short this year, but this tee is reminding me of the game and how much we’ll look forward to it when it returns!
Tee Fit: I’m wearing a Small
Shorts Fit: I’m wearing a 0
Eyelet Top • Distressed Shorts • Espadrilles
This bright eyelet top pops agains the white shorts, but would also look great with jeans or blue jean shorts.
Top Fit: I’m wearing an XS
Shorts Fit: I’m wearing a 0
Grey Tank • Raw Hem Shorts • Rainbow Sneakers • Belt
This blue hued pair of shorts fit so well, and I love the color!
Definitely stock up on the Daily Ritual and Amazon Essentials tank tops. They are great quality and work well alone or as layering pieces.
Tank Fit: I’m wearing an XS
Shorts Fit: I’m wearing a 25
Dolman Sleeve Top • Raw Hem Shorts • Rainbow Sneakers
Remember this off-shoulder dolman top? It looks so cute with the blue shorts and rainbow Keds in my last dressing room post.
Top Fit: I’m wearing a Small
Shorts Fit: I’m wearing a 25
Colorblock Tank • Boyfriend Jean Shorts • Gold Sandals | Board Shorts • Slide Sandals
I found this colorblock tank and it’s a winner! The colors go with so much and it’s not too revealing
These boyfriend jean shorts are perfect if you’re looking for a relaxed pair that look current, but aren’t too short. They have a cuffed hem with stitching and some distressing that doesn’t go overboard.
Top Fit : I’m wearing size Small, prefer XS
Shorts Fit: I’m wearing a 25
Colorblock Tank • Board Shorts
These ‘board’ style shorts are slim fitting, but not uncomfortable. I dig the slate grey color and the beachy look. They come in lots of colors too.
Shorts Fit: I’m wearing a 0
Leopard Sweatshirt • Board Shorts
My Amazon leopard sweatshirt goes perfectly with these shorts!
Sweatshirt Fit:I’m wearing a Small
Colorblock Tank • Cutoff Shorts • Gold Sandals
My most worn jean shorts are from Nordstrom by BlankNYC, and Amazon carries that same brand. I’m all about these shorter cutoffs, but I wasn’t crazy about how there was a cut at the pocket.
Shorts Fit: I’m wearing a 25
DRESSES
Moving on to dresses, I found some great weekend casual styles, as well as some appropriate for work and play.
Short Sleeve Dress • Clear Sandals
Here’s an in-between style that can easily be dressed up or down. It’s a cap sleeve shirt dress with an attached tie belt and pockets. I love the grey and white stripe color combo and also like the length. But, you taller girls will rock the above-the-knee look.

Dress Fit: I’m wearing an XS
Imagine that this dress fit me better and it’s a contender! It’s a soft shirt dress and fully lined! I like the rushing at the side because it is forgiving and the asymetric hem makes your legs look longer.
Dress Fit: I’m wearing a Small prefer XS
Fit and Flare Dress • Leopard Heels
I’ve been so impressed with the quality of dresses by Lark and Row. They are really well made and you’ll feel like a million bucks in them! This stretchy sweater dress is a tight knit that holds it’s shape and outlines your curves perfectly. This cabernet color is really pretty and becasue it’s cut on the conservative side, it would most likely be work appropriate.
Dress Fit: I’m wearing an XS
Square Neck Dress • Clear Heels
This dress feels amazing on. It’s really well made and you’ll feel secure with the fitted bust, and then it’s so flattering with the fit and flare style. The hem is slightly longer in the back and the pockets are a great addition.
Dress Fit: I’m wearing a 0
Scalloped Dress • Snake Print Sandals
I really liked the look of this fit and flare dress with scallop trim in the black, but in the pink, the darts across the chest showed through too much. Because the black is so dark, you don’t notice that stitching at all.
Dress Fit: I’m wearing an XS
JUMPSUIT
Y’all know I’m #teamjumpsuit, and if this one wasn’t way too long, it would be a keeper! It’s similar to my jogger jumpsuit, but this one has a relaxed straight leg. The shoulder straps are adjustable, and the drawstring waist is functional. And it has pockets.
Jumpsuit Fit: I’m wearing a Small
SHOES & ACCESSORIES
Here’s a closer look at my latest Amazon accessories.
Striped Woven Clutch • Woven Clutch
Espadrille Sandals • Slide Sandals
I’ve been eyeing this tote forever and now I don’t know why I waited so long to buy it! It’s a perfect, not too big (but large enough – 17″ x 19″ x 2″), great quality, sturdy canvas and it’s just too cute with the monogram and little bow tie! Bonus – it’s under $20!
Ratan Tassel Earrings • Tassel Earrings • Beaded Earrings • Similar Beaded Circle Earrings • Tiered Tassel Earrings • Similar Puff Ball Earrings • Tortoise Shell Earrings • Beaded Drop Earrings
It seems like the summer months are when I’m most likely to wear a bright pair of statement earrings. They really complete your look and take it up a notch!
Day Designer • Phone Case • Ring Holder
My phone case finally tore a few weeks ago (after having it for years), but I liked the simple, slim case so much, I just replaced it and added a new ring. I’m still getting used to the ring – I had a pop socket before that I really liked, but the “iced coffee” ring just fit me so much for summer!
Jordan got this Build-A-Garden set for her 4th birthday and it’s one of her favorite gifts! It comes with several bases and stems and floral parts of different sizes and colors and you can create your own beautiful garden. It’s the first thing she wants to play when she wakes up in the morning. And I don’t mind playing it with her! 😉
