Good morning friends! I noticed an immediate sense of hopefulness when we learned that Houston will slowly start reopening our city on May 1. There will be lots of rules and restrictions, and places like gyms and hair salons will remain closed for longer, but it’s a start. We (anyone age 10 and up) are supposed to be wearing masks when out in public throughout the month of May.
This hasn’t really changed my plans and we’re still hanging at home, but I am optimistic and happy about people being able to go back to work. This quarantine and virus has taken a toll on so many areas of our lives. It will be good to be able to feel a little more ‘normal’ again.
Homeschool has been taking lots more energy than I originally thought, but we only have a month to go! I like the structure it gives to our day, but it’s super challenging. And when did fourth grade math morph into something I cannot help with?? We always carried the one.
But I must say, our kids are true little heroes though all of this. They’ve had their lives and routines totally disrupted – no sports or school or friends coming over. It’s got to be hard for them too. Jordan keeps asking for some of her classmates to come over and is so sad that she can’t play on the playground at the park.

I literally laughed out loud about carrying the one. My girls are in 10th and 6th grade but I always told their elementary school teachers that in our house we carried the one. My follow up to that statement was they need basic math since they are not going to make a diagram of circles or draw a house to count their change at the grocery store!
Oh girl! Tell me about it! This new math doesn’t make sense to me!
