Jordan’s Big Girl Room

Hello friends! How was your weekend?  Ours was good.  Slow, but good.  I got lots of cleaning and laundry done, made another chocolate chip banana bread, had a big spaghetti dinner on Sunday, and just chilled in the backyard.  I’m so very thankful for my home, especially now that we are here 24/7.

Over the years, we’ve gotten many of the rooms to a place we are really happy with.  You can see everything in my Decor tab, but Jordan’s playroom, my bedroom and James’ room are places we’ve recently spruced up.

Next on the list in the dining room – we currently only have card tables in there and it’s functioning as our home school space.  I’m excited to be working with my friend Aryn at Oyster Creek Studio on it!  We had a phone consultation recently and I should be getting the initial design boards soon!

JORDAN’S BIG GIRL ROOM

I’m happy to finally be sharing Jordan’s big girl room with you today! Many of you might remember her nursery and that room was beloved for many years.   A few months before Jordan’s third birthday, we transitioned her from the crib to a big girl bed and switched up the decor. It’s a really pretty girl’s room, but still playful for a 4 year-old.

PINK PAINT

Her nursery was a soothing mix of lavender, off white and pale gray, and we switched out the gray for a pretty, light pink.  Of course I asked her first and she said that pink and purple were her favorite colors.  She had stripes on the ceiling in her nursery, so we just painted over the gray part with the pink.

Pink can be really tricky! The wrong shade can definitely look too sweet. Also, the white in her room was previously Sherwin-Williams Divine White and that looked very muddy against the pink.  So we lightened up the white with a brighter white, which looks so much better and more clean!

The pink paint is Sherwin Williams, Alyssum.

UPHOLSTERED BED

The bed was the catalyst for the room change, and Jordan and I both love it! It’s a beautiful hardwood bed with upholstered headboard and footboard that really makes a statement in the room. The fabric is a washed linen cotton, in the prettiest shade of French white.

BEDDING

I was happy to find this pink check bedding that coordinated so well with the floral rug, without overpowering it.  I think the bedding was from Wayfair, but not it’s sold out.  I found a similar checkered bedding at Pottery Barn Kids.

And of course, we have the super soft Amazon bed sheets on the bed.

FLORAL RUG

The floral rug is a beauty and I love the mix of colors. It’s hard to purchase rugs online because the color never seems to be exact.  In this case, it’s pretty close, but probably more vibrant than it appears online.  I tried to photograph it as naturally as possible so you can get a true feel for what it looks like in person.

NIGHTSTAND

The mirrored nightstand was once in my bedroom, so I just re-purposed it for Jordan‘s room. The top drawer still holds pull-ups and the bottom drawer is currently empty.

The bunny night light is so cool.  It’s a squishy rubber, and you can squeeze it to make it change colors.  And it can rotate colors through the night.  Or, you can just leave it on a soft white.

BOOKCASE WITH BENCH SEAT

You might remember from Jordan’s nursery makeover that I designed the built in bookshelves and bench seat and had a carpenter install it. I love the way it turned out!  It’s super functional and looks like it has been here the whole time.

This is one of my favorite views of the room!  That little ballerina tutu is what Jordan wore for Halloween one year and I found the Angel at the Nutcracker Market.

Jordan loves to read and we keep her most read books on the bottom shelf.

WALL DECALS

One of the things Jordan likes most about her room is the Peppa Pig wall decals.  I ordered them from an Etsy shop and they had such a fun, whimsical touch to the room. They were super easy to apply and will peel off without damaging the wall.

Jordan loves to point to and name each of the characters.

CHAIR

The latest addition to the room was the little chair that I had monogrammed with her name.  It’s so sweet!

This girl is growing up so fast!  I can hardly believe she is four already!  Many of you have been with me since she was born!  She’s seriously so fun and we just adore her!

I hope you enjoyed this peek into Jordan’s room!  I have shared bits and pieces of it here and there, but it’s nice to have it all in one place!

Now let’s go kick Monday’s booty!

  1. Hi there!
Beautiful room for a beautiful little girl.
I love the light in Jordans room. Where didi you buy that?
    Thank you!

  2. Love everything especially the PBK bed! Is this a full size or queen? Would you mind sharing the dimensions of the bedroom?

    1. Hi Melissa, it’s the full size. I’ll have to measure her room, I’m not sure of the dimensions. We lost some floor space by adding in that built-in unit, but I think it’s worth it!

  3. She is gorgeous and her room looks stunning. You did an amazing job with the ceiling stripes and all the color coordination. Simply looks beautiful.

  4. Hi Megan!
Wow. Jordan’s room turned out great! You really do a nice job. I know you had somebody helping you but I’m sure you’re contributing your ideas to a point. 🙂
I wanted to ask you if you know how I can get your mail from coming to me in my junk folder? I’ve been following you for a long time and it’s always come to my inbox, but the last few weeks it keeps going into my junk folder! Any ideas would be appreciated. I don’t want to miss anything. Ha ha
    Thank you!!

    1. Hi Jo! Thanks so much! I had someone help with Jordan’s nursery, but not her big girl room! I’ll double check about the emails going to junk folder- thanks for letting me know!
