Dressing Room & Fundraiser Update

Hello friends! Welcome to a brand new week!  At first, it was hard to remember what day of the week it was, but now with homeschooling, I can definitely say we are on Week #2! I’m thankful that James is a pretty good self starter and I haven’t had to hound him on getting his work done.

Did you see this video representing every mom in America right now?!  I almost wet my pants laughing because it is so SPOT ON!

I’m also thankful for Ali-Shaun’s hubby (our school’s athletic director) who asks the kids to do 30 minutes of exercise a day.  It sounds silly, but having that requirement made a big difference in our day getting outside.  And then, once we are outside, we end up playing or doing something physical for way longer than 30 minutes.  The kids especially like playing basketball or riding bikes.

Over the weekend, one of my closest girlfriends invited me and the kids to come to her lakehouse that’s remotely located about 60 miles from Austin.  With nothing to do besides shelter in place, we figured it was a good time to go and safe to do so.  We’ll be there for a couple of days with spotty Internet, so you may not hear much from me while we’re gone.  *UPDATE: I realize this was confusing- we were invited to USE their lakehouse since no one was there.  But, we didn’t end up going after all.  Sigh. Another time!

I will say, try as we might, we are going a little stir crazy since we’re not used to being home this much.  We usually have school and sports and extracurricular activities to enjoy.

We are allowed to go to the park, but not the playground.  Jordan was asking why we couldn’t go on the slide or swings.  I tried to give her a simplified answer and said, “because they have too many germs right now.”  She reasonably asked, “so after they wash them can we go on them?”

Today’s post was set for last Friday, but I wanted share the fundraiser information and I have an update for you at the end of this post.  From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU so much for joining in and helping support our #FrontineHeroesHouston. ♥

DRESSING ROOM

Now onto today’s Dressing Room post. Most of my order was from LOFT, and they are having a huge sale too. EVERYTHING is 50% off with FREE shipping & returns! Use code SPRING.

For Size Reference: I’m a shorty (5’1) and petite, weighing about 110.  I typically wear size 0p/25 jeans, XS or XSP in tops and dresses.

JEANS OUTFITS

Eyelet Peplum Top, White Jeans, Gold Flip Flops

Crochet Top • Chewed Hem  Jeans • Flip Flops

It’s definitely white jeans time and I ordered two pair from LOFT to see how I liked them. This first pair with a raw edge, chewed hem was cute, but I think they might be better for shorter gals because the chewed part is pretty high.

Otherwise, they are a nice and thick, bright opaque white that is so fresh for Spring and Summer.

Jeans Fit: I’m wearing 25P

White eyelet usually has my heart, but this peachy/pink top is darling.  I adore the relaxed fit, peplum cut, 3/4 sleeves and split neck.  some of the holes are rather large, but I still didn’t think this top required a cami.

Top Fit: I’m wearing and XSP

Gingham Check Ruffle Sleeve Top, White Cinched Hem Jeans, Gold Flip Flops

Gingham Tee • Similar Gingham Tee • Cinched Hem Jeans • Flip Flops

How sweet is this gingham top?! The flutter sleeves are so cute and I like the vibrant color. It would look great with blue jeans and tan wedges too.

Top Fit: I’m wearing an XS

These mid-rise, white jeans are fun with a rusched ankle, or “cinched hem”. I think I preferred this pair over the chewed hem pair above.  They are cut with extra slimming stretchy pockets that keep you looking leaner. They are a crop length, but not too short.

Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a 25P

Henley Long Sleeved Tee, Chewed Hem Skinny Jeans, Leopard Flats

Long Sleeve Top • Chewed Hem Jeans • Leopard Flats

I’m always a fan of a good henley.  This one is vibrant red, but it also comes in white. The buttons are functional and I love wearing this type of top with jean shorts when the weather is transitioning.

Top Fit: I’m wearing an XS

You’ve seen these chewed hem jeans before.  I love the style and fit and probably because I bought these around the holidays, so I sized up one! It sure makes for a really comfortable fit when I’m just working from home.

Jeans Fit : TTS, wearing 2P

Striped Cropped Sweater, Skinny Jeans Chewed Hem, Black Heels

Striped Sweater Tank • Chewed Hem Jeans • Heels • Necklace

You get the comfort and stretchy thickness of a sweater in a tank style with this top. If you can bear arms at work, it would look great with pants.

Tank Fit: I’m wearing XSP

Pink Split Neck Short Sleeved Blouse, Chewed Hem Skinny Jeans, Nude Heels

Split Neck Top • Chewed Hem Jeans • Heels

When you head back to work, you’ll definitely want this top in your wardrobe arsenal.  I’d recommend getting one in every color because you’ll want to wear it often and it will go with so many skirts and pants.

It’s incredibly comfortable, and still looks polished without a collar. It feels kind of silky on, but it’s machine washable.

Top Fit: I’m wearing an XS

White Puff Sleeve Sweatshirt, Camo Joggers, Golden Goose Dupes

Puff Sleeve Sweatshirt • Camo Joggers • Golden Goose Dupes

Just a little bit of detail in the puffed sleeve takes this top up a notch.  It looks more feminine this way, don’t ya think? I loved it with my camo joggers, but it will literally go with everything in your closet- especially in white.

Sweatshirt Fit: I’m wearing an XS

Joggers Fit: I sized down one for a slimmer fit

Geo Print Tank, Skinny Jeans, Gold Wedge Sandals, Ring Crossbody Bag

Geo Print Tank • Skinny Jeans • Gold Wedges • Star Necklace • Ring Purse Crossbody

Did you see the new Sunshine Collection?  I’m most smitten with the maxi dresses (shown below), but this geo print tank is fun- especially the double criss cross back!

Top Fit: I’m wearing an XS

These high-rise skinny jeans are from Loft and they make you look sooo super slim with long legs!  I think the solid, darker wash helps. They are the jeans I wore on my date with Adorable Man Child. 😉

Jeans Fit : TTS, wearing 0P

Grey Tee, Skinny Jeans, Gold Wedges

Burnout Tee • Similar Tee • Skinny Jeans • Gold Belt • Gold Wedges • Star Necklace

I love this burnout tee and grey is one of my favorite colors.  This tee feels soft as pj’s and the relaxed style (with double hem) gets an A+!

Tee Fit: I’m wearing an XS

SHORTS OUTFITS

Striped Tank, Denim Jean Shorts, Studded Flip Flops

Stripe Tank • Utility Shorts • Studded Flip Flops • Necklace

I liked this top so much in the short sleeve version, that I bought the tank also.  It’s one of the tops I already know I’ll wear the heck out of the rest of this year.

Top Fit: I’m wearing an XS

If you like a jean short, but not the typicaly cutoff style, you might like these.  They’re cut like a utility short, but in a lightweight, denim fabric. They have a 3-inch inseam, so on the shorter side.

Shorts Fit: I sized down to a regular 24

Croched Sleeve Blouse, Polka Dot Skort, Nude Wedge Sandals

Crochet Flutter Top • Skort • Nude Wedge Sandals

This soft knit tee is even better with crocheted flutter sleeves!

Top Fit: I’m wearing an XSP

I wasn’t as crazy about the skort as I thought I might be.  It’s really cute with polka dots and ruffles, but would probably look better with a different top.

Skort Fit: I’m wearing a 0P

White Tank, Paper Bag Waist Striped Shorts, Nude Wedge Sandals

White Tank • Striped Tie Waist Cargo Shorts • Nude Wedge Sandals

Shorts Fit: I’m wearing XXSP, and should have went with my normal XSP so they’d be a bit looser

JUMPSUITS

Checked Jumpsuit, Miller Dupe Sandals

Gingham Jumpsuit • Miller Dupe Sandals

This jumpsuit is a fun allover black and white gingham pattern with a smocked back and tie waist.  I like that it has pockets and a relaxed crop length.  You could dress it up with heels or wear with sandals like I did here.

Jumpsuit Fit: I’m wearing an XSP

Floral Jumpsuit, Nude Heels

Paisley Jumpsuit • Heels

I’m really fond of this paisley jumpsuit with a flare leg and flutter sleeves.  The color and pattern are really lively!  Perfect for a party or shower, even church.

Jumpsuit Fit: I’m wearing a Regular XXS

Floral Jumpsuit

DRESSES

Eyelet Shift Dress, Nude Wedge Sandals

Swing Dress • Nude Wedge Sandals

I normally go for white eyelet, but I really liked the navy in this dress.  It’s an easy to wear, swing style and fully lined with a lovely scallop hem detail

Dress Fit: I’m wearing an XSP

Floral Shift Dress, Miller Sandals

Garden V-neck Swing Dress • Miller Sandals

You’ll be extra comfortable in this little sundress.  It’s nice and stretchy, and non-body conscious.  It would also be so cute with a jean jacket.

Dress Fit: I’m wearing a XSP

Daisy Ruffle Swing Dress, Black Sandals

Smocked Swing Dress • Sandals

This dress is a combo of relaxed (the skirt) and fitted (the smocked top), but also extremely comfortable with a lightweight, stretchy material. I also like the pretty blue floral pattern against the darker background.

Dress Fit: I’m wearing a Regular 00

Floral Dress, Wedges, White and Gold Belt

Garden Ruffle Pocket Dress • Similar Wedges

I’m all about this garden party dress. It’s a fit and flare style with buttons up the front and a flirty little cap sleeve.

Dress Fit: I’m wearing a 0P

Ruffle Tiered Dress, Nude Wedge Sandals

Ruffle Tiered Dress • Nude Wedge Sandals

The soft blue color and flirty tiered skirt on this dress make it a winner!  The ruffled top turn around to the back in a racerback style that’s really pretty.

Dress Fit: I’m wearing an XSP

Striped Button Down Maxi Dress, Nude Wedge Sandals

Striped Button Maxi Dress • Nude Wedge Sandals

I wasn’t expecting to like this dress this much!  It’s almost like your favorite long sleeve tee in a dress with buttons and a tie waist.  The skirt has a slight slit at the sides so it’s easy to walk in.

Dress Fit: I’m wearing an XSP

Floral Vine Tiered Dress, Wedges

Floral Vine Tiered Dress • Wedges

I’m CRAZY for this baby doll style dress.  I already wore it while sheltering in place and felt pretty and comfortable all day!

Dress Fit: I’m wearing an XXSP

Striped Maxi, Studded Flip Flops

Sriped Maxi Dress • Studded Flip Flops

I’m loving these new maxi dresses from the Sunshine Collection.  They come in fun colors with a smocked bodice, pockets and adjustable shoulder straps. They are also fully lined.

Dress Fit: I’m wearing a XXSP

Floral Print Maxi Dress, Studded Flip Flops

Floral Print Maxi Dress • Studded Flip Flops

I think this print is my fave!

Dress Fit: I’m wearing a XXSP

Striped Midi Dress, Clear Heels

Striped Midi Dress • Clear Heels

This dress would be at the top of my list for church or Mother’s Day brunch.  I love the soft blue color and contrasting stripe pattern.  The keyhole isn’t too revealing and it has pockets, fully lined underneath.

Dress Fit: I’m wearing an XXSP

KIMONO

Floral Kimono, Jeans Shorts, White Tank, Studded Sandals

Kimono • White Tank • Shorts

A kimono is perfect for throwing over your shorts outfit or swimsuit.  Both of these are nice and breezy, and one size fits all.

White Dot Kimono, Blue Floral Swimsuit, Gold Flip Flops

Kimono • Swimsuit • Gold Flip Flops

FRONTLINE HEROS UPDATE

I cannot thank you enough for joining me in raising money to provide restaurant meals to local Houston healthcare workers. You can read my initial post about the fundraiser here.

As I type this post, we have raised $2,265!  That will definitely bless our heros and help support the restaurants too!

One restaurant we are partnering with is Teotihuacan Mexican Cafe.  They are a beloved Mexican restaurant in Houston with three locations (Heights, Lindale and Southwest Houston) and have the BEST fajitas!  Teotihuacan generously offers a 50% off discount to police officers and has agreed to do the same for our healthcare workers in this situation.   That means, our money will go even further!

I’ve also been in contact with ScrubGrub, founded by three Houston ladies to provide meals to Houston & Galveston healthcare workers.  They are connecting families who wish to sponsor/send a meal to front-line departments within local hospitals, such as the ED and ICU.

So, the next step is just to coordinate the actual delivery, which I’m hoping we can do today, or early this week. And, of course, we’ll keep it going as long as have the funds to do so!  I will keep you updated!  I love you guys to pieces!

If you want to join in, you can send donations via venmo to me at @megan-frontlineheroeshouston

I will use 100% of those funds to purchase meals to provide to Houston area healthcare workers.

And, there’s still time to win EVERYTHING in my March Loves by subscribing to my blog!  Go here to subscribe!

Now go kick Monday’s booty!

  1. What about meals for the true unsung heroes? The orderlies, janitorial staff, unseen admin workers, etc? Nobody ever sponsors them yet they are there too keeping the place running without fanfare. Medical centers are more than just nurses and doctors.

    1. That’s such a good point Nadine! There are so many people affected by this and the meals we deliver are welcome to be shared by the whole hospital staff.

  2. Do you think that Navy eyelet dress would be dressy enough for 8th grade promotion?? I do realize this may not happen with everything going on, but I just kind of want to be in denial right now 😉 I have a couple maxi dresses, but feel like they’re just not dressy enough.

  3. I appreciate and utterly (UTTERLY) understand the desire to go to your friend’s lake house, but isn’t the point of social distancing/isolation that you absolutely don’t do these things at the moment? ?
