This & That | Last Minute Stocking Stuffers for Kids

Hi friends and happy Friday!  I’m sure lots of you are busy with work parties, gift exchanges, and holiday classroom parties today!  The Friday before Christmas is such a fun day.  We were supposed to have the kids’ Advent program and class parties today too, but since school is closed, they are rescheduled until the Friday after we return in January.  Better late than never!

I have been so sick the last few days, but I’m finally feeling on the mend.  I had a serious bout of insomnia after I got a steroid shot and that was miserable.  Y’all know how no sleep feels and it’s the worst!  I literally didn’t get to sleep until 6am and then only got a couple hours.  Thank God I’m on the upswing.  I sure hope y’all are well and feeling great.

Today is a bit of a random post, just sharing a few Christmas snapshots around the house, a mini try-on, and last minute stocking stuffers for the kids (all on PRIME) you can get these things in time for Christmas morning!

Speaking of Prime, if you missed it, catch my latest Amazon Fashion Haul here!

It seems our favorite traditions this month have been the Advent Calendar (especially the little chocolate one from Trader Joe’s).  Best $1 I spent this month!  We also enjoy this fabric advent calendar with tassels.  I put a mini candy cane in each day and Jordan is obsessed!

Hot cocoa station

One of my favorite traditions is getting into Christmas pajamas, making hot cocoa, and heading out to see the lights in the neighborhood.  In Houston, if you go to River Oaks, the houses are all decked out with the best lights and it’s really a sight to behold.

I’ve gotten lots of questions about this galvanized tray- I found it at Hobby Lobby.  I think it will be fun to change out the cups and decor to fit each season.

We are also binge watching movies lately and truly enjoy Disney+.  One of the kids’ favorite movies to watch is Home Alone.  Jordan likes Kevin and James always cracks up at all the pranks.

We also collect nutcrackers and add a new one to our collection each year.  It was so funny because I noticed that the other day, Jordan had turned all of them to face the door, “so they could watch for Santa.”

Speaking of adorable toddler things, we’ve been talking a lot about why we celebrate Christmas and how it’s Jesus’ birthday.  Jordan is learning and absorbing so much and has tons of questions.  One thing she asked that was particularly heartwarming was, “will Jesus be at the birthday party?”

I seriously never want to forget that!

We finally got a cold snap so the weather is bright and chilly!  I’m living in all things fleece and cozy lately. James snapped this picture the first day of our unexpected early Christmas break.  One nonfat peppermint mocha for me, an extra hot mocha for my mom, and a hot chocolate for James!

MINI TRY-ON

I placed an order at Loft recently and wanted to share the pieces I really liked because there are some good party outfits!  I mixed in a couple of Nordstrom things too. 😉

LOFT sweater dress

A cable knit sweater dress is always fun to wear when the weather turns chilly (add tights if it’s really cold).  The cowl neck on this one is nice and loose, and you can wear it belted or sans belt.  Which way do you prefer?

I adore the petite florals and colors in this velvet fit and flare dress.  It’s also nice and warm and feels amazing on, with a little bit of swing and a ruffled sleeves.

Ooh, this bodysuit is so soft and warm and still on the sassy side!  It’s got a mock neck and thong bottom.  The tweed skirt can be worn from work to weekend – lots of options for how to style that one!

I’m smitten with this snowflake sweater!  It’s incredibly soft and I like how it pairs with the tweed skirt, or can be worn with jeans and boots.

I even like how this 2020 top looks with the skirt, but I’m getting it to wear with jeans for sure.  I am ALL ABOUT 2020!!!

I love how feminine and pretty this outfit is!  The pleated skirt is fully lined with a dot texture on it.  And you can wear this soft white sweater with practically anything in your closet.

It even looks great with a sequin skirt! This one from Loft looks like it sold out, but this sequin skirt on Amazon looks similar and has good reviews.

10 LAST MINUTE STOCKING STUFFERS FOR KIDS

I don’t know about you, but stocking stuffers are what I tend to buy last, but I really enjoy picking them out!  When I was a kid, my stockings always had a tangerine in the toe and walnuts, so I like to do that now too!  I’d love to hear in the comments what unique things you add to your stockings!

1 •  Flying Ball // This thing is so cool and the kids love it! The ball actually “flies” over your kids’ hand like magic!

2 • Lip Smackers lip balm // Put a smile across the lips of your little one or you! 😉 My favorite flavor is vanilla.

3 • Rubix cube // A favorite for James, he entered a cubing competition this summer and did really well!  He followed YouTube tutorials to learn the algorithm to solve them fast.

4 • Bananagrams game // Fun for hours and great for kids learning how to spell.

5 • Scented Glitter pens // These scented pens are great for your little crafter or your teen.

6 • Wooden Stamping Set // This washable ink stamp set is perfect for developing fine motor skills and creativity.  The wooden handles are easy for little hands to hold.

7 • Bath Sponge Capsules // Jordan loves watching these capsules turn into something. Your kids will love them too.

8 • Christmas Word Search // Another great way to pass the time for kids on long car rides or just hanging out at home.

9 • Travel Spirograph // Here is a travel size craft for kids on the go.

10 • Mad Libs // Do you remember these as a kid? So many hours of fun doing Mad Libs. This one is specific for Diary of a Wimpy Kid (James’ fave).

11. Wet brush // The best brush for working those tangles without tears. Jordan and I both use it.
