Holiday Outfits for Mom & Daughter

Thank you to JCPenney and ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post.

Hello Monday!  How was your weekend?  This would have been our last week before school is out for Christmas break, but the break came early this year.  Now I’m thinking, what are we going to do this week?!   I haven’t really made any plans, so this should be interesting.   And, I’ve come down with a cold, so I’m fighting that too.  Send help!

As y’all know, I’m partnering with JCPenney for four months and I’ve been so happy with the cute, affordable styles I’ve found there.  I was crazy for the teddy bear fleece jacket and white quilted vest in my last post, the sweaters in the Fall post and the under $50 styles here.

This month, with the holidays upon us, I’m sharing a couple of festive, but still warm and comfortable outfits for us, along with the darling dresses I found for Jordan for this year’s Christmas photos.  And, after finding so many things that would make great gifts, I created a collage with some standouts that I think your friend, mom, bestie, or sister would love to receive this year.

And even better JCPenney’s Start the Season Bright Sale gets you an extra 25% off $100 or more and an extra 20% off orders under $100.  The sale is online only with Code THANKS19.

OUTFIT #1

I’m definitely enjoying the holiday season this year and have lots of rooms in our home decorated, but I skipped putting up our big tree in the dining room.  I’ve shared recently some ways to slow down and not go crazy with all.the.things and so some things didn’t make it onto the ‘to do’ list this year.

But, I did dress up our console table with some branches in a bottle, garland, and the two little holiday mice that I couldn’t resist.  One of my best friends from high school (shout out to Class of ’93) and I had nicknames for each other “RatGirl and Secret Squirrel” so that’s where the rodent love comes from.  Hi Sherri!!

White Pearl Sweater

It might drive my kids a little nuts that we have faux wrapped gifts, but I like the decor!  I’m also smitten with white sweaters this time of year.  This one caught my eye because of the beautiful pearl embellishments throughout the front. It also has a slight drop shoulder and banded waist and sleeves.

Sweater Fit : I’m wearing size XS

White Pearl Sweater

You can wear this sweater casually with blue jeans, but to give it a dressier look, I opted for black jeans.  I’ve had good luck with all the Levi’s jeans I’ve found at JCPenney lately.  This pair is the 711 Skinny style with a mid rise, zip and button fly, and comfortable fit.

You also can’t beat the price on these jeans.  They’re normally $59, which is a great deal, but on sale, they’re under $40!

Jeans Fit : I’m normally a size 25 in jeans, but they didn’t have that size, so I ordered a size 26 and was happy with how they fit.  I did roll the length under since they were long on me.

OUTFIT #2

How can you not wear red this time of year?!  I love it for it’s vibrancy and fun energy!

I wore this punchy red sweater to a local event in Houston with Santa this year.  They had several rooms set up with different backgrounds so you could take fun pictures.  This background was set up like a stack of wrapped gifts. #socute

I’m wearing the same jeans and classic pumps as in the first outfit, but you might be able to see them better in this photo.

The sweater is a classic cable knit v-neck and also comes in gold, white, black/white buffalo check and leopard.  I like how it’s a relaxed fit and also long enough for leggings.

And how fun is this bow background?  I love the mix of metallics and it really makes the red pop!

Did you know that JCPenney also has a cool selection of home decor and holiday decor?  I always find things to add to our Christmas collection like last year’s plaid plates and cups.  This year, I loved the look of this faux magnolia wreath with red berries and long plaid bow.

KIDS’ OUTFITS

I incorporated the wreath into the kids’ holiday pictures because my photographer Tisha said it’s a good idea to give kids something to hold in photos.  It gives them something to do with their hands!

I managed to wrangle the kids for a holiday photo shoot one day after school recently.  I tried the day before, but I couldn’t get them dressed and out of house.  So, the next day I got smart and, right after school, without stopping at home first, I drove them to the park for these pics!

The pictures were intended to go out as Christmas cards, but have yet to be sent and at this point, I’ve pretty much given up.  But, at least I have the photos to frame!

JCPenney always has the cutest special dresses for girls and I’ve gotten several of Jordan’s there.

Isn’t that plaid dress darling?!

They changed from their school uniforms in the car and Jordan lasted all of about 10 minutes before she was over it! But those photos are my favorite! Especially the last one!  I know you can relate to these!!

MORE FUN FINDS AT JCPENNEY THAT MAKE GREAT GIFTS

Now here are some of the goodness I found at JCPenney in store and online recently.  I’m thinking they would make gifts!

Holiday Gift Guide

Striped Sweater • I saw this sweater in person at my store last time I was there.  Now I wish I picked it up!  It’s really pretty in person and feels so soft!

They also had a whole display of Tricoastal Design gifts set up and the items are darling in person! I really liked this container because I could envision putting makeup brushes or pens and pencils in them.  I love cute little organizational things like this.

I don’t think anyone can have too many cozy Sherpa Jackets. This one is the perfect shade of pink and super soft, but if pink isn’t your color, they have several options.

Cozy Cable Knit Throws make the best gift for that one who is hard to buy for and you can’t beat this price point!

This kimono style Robe looks so cozy and is perfect for shorter gals.  Sometimes the long ones have too much fabric!

These ballerina style slippers allow you to lounge around the house in total comfort.  And Isotoner is known for making quality slippers!

Adidas Sneakers are always a go-to for running around or low impact workouts.  This black pair is so chic!  Fit tip : I often have to size down half in Adidas shoes.

The gift of coffee would make me a happy girl!  I know so many people love their Keurig® K-Select that brews coffee, tea, hot cocoa, specialty and iced beverages in several sizes. This red sure is a fun color!

The perfect gift for your bestie: Hello Gorgeous Tumbler I’m sure she’d like to see this sentiment every morning.

New towels are a welcome addition to any home, but they have to be good.  I haven’t tried these, but they have over 1,500 positive reviews.  They have a ‘dry wick texture’ to help keep them from staying damp.  They also come in several different color options to compliment any bathroom.
