This & That

Yay for FRIDAY!!   And yay for the first real cool temps in Houston! It really made our week getting a brief respite from the high 90s that love to linger on here.  It’s looking like our trip to the pumpkin patch farm on Saturday will be in the 60s! Woo hoo!

It was a full week on the blog too- we’ve had October Loves, the Best Sales, adorable (and affordable!) Fall outfits from JCPenney and Nordstrom Rack.  Don’t forget about those places when you’re shopping online- they have incredible deals!

THIS & THAT

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a random This & That post, so today will be just that- a bit of everything that’s been happening lately.  I share a lot of this on Stories, and you can catch those almost daily if you follow me on Instagram.

Now grab your hot cup of coffee or tea and get comfy!

OLD NAVY TRY ON

I popped into Old Navy while out running errands this week and found several cute things for Fall and their quilted puffer vests are back- only $25!

Pink SweaterJeansFlats

This sweater is definitely a winner! It’s a v-neck, so it can be worn on or off the shoulder if you size up. It’s lightweight, but will still keep you warm in the cooler fall weather.

Y’all are as crazy for Amazon as I am! #mypeople

Your Top 5 Amazon Fashion

This Amazon tote has become my new everyday bag. You have probably seen me with the lighter color, but I switched to the darker color for Fall and it’s going great with what I’m wearing lately.

Pink Crystals with Rose Gold Bracelet • similar Pink Marble on NaturalBOGO FREE

I also love this bag organizer, which fits perfectly inside the bag and helps keep everything in place.

Your Top 5 Amazon Decor Faves

Pinecone Garland • I strung two on my mantel and added lights to make it extra festive

Fleece Blanket • The one that rivals the Barefoot Dreams, but wayyyy less expensive

Flickering Candles • These are battery operated and come with an easy to use remote (Jordan loves to turn ours on and off)

White and Gold Pumpkins • These are all along our stairs now and I love how it looks!

This Fall wreath was such a big hit.  It came packaged very carefully and looks great on our front doors, plus it was very reasonably priced.  If you missed it, you can check out my Amazon Fall decor post to see what else I ordered to decorate for the season.

How to Easily Shop My Amazon Faves

Did you know you can shop my Amazon finds via screenshot?! #Iknow!   Technology is truly amazing and I often have to ask my nine-year old for help! 😉

Here’s the scoop: Amazon StyleSnap is an easy way to shop my Instagram posts.  All you have to do is take a screenshot and upload it to the Amazon app.

Here are the easy steps :

1. Take a screenshot of any outfit you want to shop

2. Go to your Amazon App and click the Camera icon next to the search bar

3. Select the “StyleSnap” option and upload the screenshot
4. Shop my outfits!
You can also shop my outfits directly on my Amazon Storefront, where I’ve also included some of my favorite decor, beauty and household products!

FOOD  & FITNESS

Switching gears, my Instagram Story about zero waste meal planning got loads of responses.  I’ve been trying to be more intentional about what we eat and eating the food that we already have before buying more.

We had 16 frozen turkey burgers in the freezer, along with tons of fish, shrimp and veggies, not to mention what was stocked in the pantry. When I took a good look at what we had and made my meal plan from that, my grocery bill was only $58 dollars that week! #what?!

TOP 5 TIPS FOR SAVING MONEY ON GROCERIES

Y’all answered my poll and gave lots of great tips on how you save on groceries:

1. Meal plan taking stock of what’s in your fridge, freezer and pantry before you shop- there might not be that much you need to buy!
2.  Order online and pickup to avoid impulse shopping (it costs $5 at Kroger for that service)
3.  Don’t throw away the leftovers– eat them! You can have a ‘smorgasbord night’.
4. Aldi, WalMart and Trader Joe’s have good prices on certain things.
5. Use the Ibotta (cash back) app & coupons- I haven’t tried the app, but now I’m curious!

BEAUTY

If you’ve followed me for long, you might know I’m quite religious about getting my nails done every 2-3 weeks.  I get shellac polish and love it because it lasts so long!

But, I have a bad habit of peeling off my shellac when it’s time to get my nails redone and that’s so bad for my nails.  I decided to give my nails a bit of a break and removed my shellac at home – the right way!

Bracelets (set of 3)

How To Remove Shellac at Home

1. Use a nail file to sand down the top layer of polish
2. Soak a cotton ball in acetone
3. Keep the cotton ball in place over your nail with a small piece of foil and soak for 10 minutes
4. Use a nail scraper to gently remove the shellac

Yep! That’s the ugly after- before I cleaned them up, filed them and repainted them at home.  I lasted over a month, and just went yesterday and got shellac again! #addict

Lips

A lot of you ask what lip color I’m wearing in my Stories. When in doubt, I’m most likely wearing Eros by Mac. It’s a great redish pink color that brightens up your face and is good for both casual running around or a night out!

Lashes

I’ve used this R + F Lash Boost for months now and my lashes have grown so much longer!  It’s really incredible considering how broken and short they were after I pulled out all of my lash extensions.  If you shop Lash Boost, my friend Jamie will earn a small commission.
You apply the lash serum at night onto your upper eyelid, along the lash line.  The liquid is clear and odorless and doesn’t feel like anything other than wet when you apply it.
I’ve also used NueLash in the past and it worked really well, but my lashes have grown even more with the R + F Lash Boost.

KIDDOS

James has been teaching himself to play the keyboard/piano, and I’m SO proud of him! I bought the Williams Legato III Keyboard a few months ago and he’s been playing nonstop. He practices every night (on his own!) and uses the Piano Academy and Flowkey app to learn.  Of the two, I think he’s having more fun with Flowkey.

Greenlight Card

My friend Jamie told me about the Greenlight Card, which is a parent-managed debit card for kids. I want to start teaching James about financial responsibility- giving, saving and spending – and this has been a huge help.

First, it was practical because with his weekly allowance I often didn’t have $9 cash or I couldn’t remember if I gave it to him or not.  With the Greenlight card, I schedule it to go into his account automatically every week and don’t have to think about it.  The more things on auto pilot, the better!

Also, if he wants to buy something, he can manage his money to save up for it.  He recently asked me for Apple air pods.  #baller  I told him that if he wanted those, he could save up and buy them with his money.  He started saving and then realized just how long it was going to take him to reach that goal.  After several weeks, he realized he could buy a pair of air pods at Walmart for about $30.

Guess which ones he went with?  The cheaper pair!  Of course, since it was HIS money, he was happy to pay less for them and that pair is working perfectly! And he takes good care of them because he used his money that he saved to buy them.

This isn’t a sponsored shout out, but we both get $10 if you sign up with my referral code.  Then, it costs $5 a month to use.  I customized James’ card with his picture, and he appreciated that.

These reusable snack bags are super handy for lunches and I love all the cute designs!

Jordan is still crazy for her Peppa Pig decals and the application process was painless.  The hardest part was deciding who to put where!  For more about her big girl room, go here.

Anatolia Pink Rug • Gingham Duvet Cover • Duvet Insert • Softest Sheets Ever

We’re halfway ready for Halloween!  How cute is the pumpkin costume?! Jordan is 3 1/2 years old and wearing an XL in the costume, and a 3-6 yr in the green tights.  I seriously can’t take the cuteness!

James and three of his friends are going as The Beatles circa the Yellow Submarine album.  He’s obsessed with them and loved the movie Yesterday.

I hope you enjoyed this random peek into all.the.things over here lately!  I actually love these kinds of chit chat posts, but let me know in the comments if you agree!
