Take Care of You & Take Your Vitamins

Thank you to HUM Nutrition & ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post

Good morning Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are excited about the week ahead.  Mondays can be hard getting back into the groove after the weekend, but if you get your mindset right that it IS going to be a fantastic, productive week, the day starts to follow your lead!

You may have heard me share on Stories recently the vitamins I’ve been taking, and today I’m going to dive in and give you all the details. Logically, we know we need to take care of ourselves, even if it’s just so that we can take care of the other people in our lives.  If you’re near my age, 44, you might be knee deep in caring for kids AND starting to be more responsible for aging parents.  We’re getting it from both ends so it’s more important than ever to stay healthy and strong.

In addition to exercising regularly and trying my best to eat healthy most of the time, I’ve also gotten a physical this year and do twice a year dental checkups and also my well woman exam.  Mammograms are also important as we get older.

I find it’s easiest if I plan all these appointments out at the beginning of the year, and/or schedule the next year’s appointment when I’m checking out.

I’m thankful that I’ve got a clean bill of health and I don’t take it for granted!

At home, I usually take a multivitamin and biotin for my hair and nails, but I’ve been curious about more specific vitamins.  If you’re like me, you tend to find the plethora of information on vitamins overwhelming and you don’t know where to start.  So you don’t take any!  Does that sound familiar?!

HUM NUTRITION MAKES IT EASY

I was approached by HUM Nutrition and invited to take their personalized quiz to find out what vitamins and supplements would be beneficial for me to take.

I took the quiz, which only took a few minutes, and right away, I had the results from a nutritionist in my email, along with an easy-to-read description of why I each vitamin was recommended for me.

MY QUIZ RESULTS

I was impressed by the depth of the results.  My nutritionist said I was doing well with my diet and probably getting enough healthy fats through the fish I eat regularly, so I didn’t need HUM Omega the Great- a high quality fish oil.

I also got kudos for eating protein, managing portion sizes, and drinking lots of water.  Bonus points for not smoking and exercising regularly.

Based on my own concerns about my immune system (I tend to get colds easily), bone strength, energy and skin appearance (fine lines and wrinkles, firmness), and also digestion issues such as bloating, here’s what she recommended:

HUM Red Carpet • Helps hydrate skin cells and nourish hair follicles

HUM Daily Cleanse â€¢ Help’s clear your skin and body from toxins. It is made of organic algae, detoxifying herbs and cleansing minerals.

HUM Flatter Me • Helps digestion, reduces bloating and enhances nutrient uptake. Flatter Me is the most comprehensive enzyme on the market.

In true over achiever fashion, I wanted to try more, so I added these three:

HUM Skin Heroes Pre+ Probiotic • Probiotic for skin and gut health + ph balance

HUM Big Chill • Helps keep you calm and focused during stressful times #yesplease

HUM Collagen Love • Helps skin firmness, elasticity (wrinkle repair, smooth skin)

HUM NUTRITIONIST

I really love that you can message a HUM nutritionist at any time with any questions or concerns that you have so that you can make the most informed decisions about your healthy regimen.

I ended up wondering if starting with this combination of six vitamins was appropriate for me and my nutritionist, Alexandra, wrote me right back assuring me it was fine to take all of them together and reminding me which ones I should take on an empty stomach (HUM Daily Cleanse and HUM Skin Heroes Pre + Probiotic) and the rest with food.

One of the best things about HUM Nutrition is the informative (but not overwhelming) information cards that come with each vitamin. Each card tells you exactly what the supplement does and how you should take it.

For example, with Skin Heroes, the card tells you in simple language that it’s a pre-probiotic that nurtures the gut microbiome and rescues problematic skin.

It balances digestion, as well as promotes even, clear and smooth skin.

And on the back of the card, it tells you how to take it: take 2 capsules at any time with or without food.

They make it SO easy!

In addition to having vegan options, all HUM Nutrition formulas are non-GMO, sustainably sourced, gluten free, premium quality, and best of all, clinically proven to be pure, potent, and effective!

And they have supplements to help support your health and beauty goals.

I might have jumped the gun ordering 6 different vitamins to start because that means I have to take a lot of pills each day!  I bought a large pill organizer from Target and that helps me keep everything organized.

Another cool thing is that the bottle is flat on two sides so that they take up less space when you go to store the bottles.  I’ve never seen pill bottles that weren’t completely round.  #genius!

WHEN WILL YOU NOTICE RESULTS?

It’s been about two weeks that I’ve been taking the vitamins and I can’t say I notice any significant differences just yet.  According to HUM Nutrition, it typically takes 4 weeks to feel results, and 6-8 weeks to start seeing results.

I definitely feel like it can be overwhelming to juggle all.the.things, including our own health and fitness.  But, it’s so important to keep yourself on your priority list!  Take small steps and give yourself grace, instead of demanding perfection.

If you’ve wanted to start a vitamin regimen, but didn’t know where to start, try the free HUM Nutrition quiz.  It doesn’t take long to complete, and you might find it interesting what they have to recommend for you!
