3 Animal Print Dresses for Summer to Fall

Thank you to Nordstrom and Shopstyle for sponsoring today’s post.

Hi friends and YAY for Friday!  I’m super excited for the weekend!  During the summer, I felt like all the days kind of ran together, but with school in session, there’s a definite school day and weekend differentiation!  I’m savoring these weekends with nothing on the kid agenda because before we know it, it will be sports and birthday parties and not as much down time.

This week was a fun one on the blog and I appreciate so much the comments you leave.  It helps me know what kind of content resonates with you for future posts!  If you missed it, I shared transition to Fall outfits here and here.

Today’s post is dedicated to the hottest print for Fall – animal print.  Truthfully, animal print has always been popular, but this season we’re seeing it in a new way.  It’s bold mixes of color, neon, and mixed animal prints with a strong trend towards snakeskin.  I browsed Nordstrom online and found some super cute animal print items.

The Nordstrom website is always so easy to navigate and I love the ease of ordering online and picking up in store.  If you do the same, be sure to say hi to my girl, Jamece.  She manages that department at the Nordstrom Galleria in Houston and we LOVE her!

ANIMAL PRINT DRESSES

I have three fun dresses that are functional for work, a night out, party or dinner with friends. Let me know in the comments which one is your fave!

MULTICOLOR DRESS

Dress • Booties • Similar Bag • Similar Gold Bangles

Animal Print Dress
This first dress is from Gibson’s City Safari collection that just launched this week.  It’s got a darling smocked neck and coordinating tie belt, hitting above the knee.
Dress Fit : Gibson is good about including a wide range of sizes in their collections.  This dress comes in XXSP to XXL.  I’m wearing my true size, XSP.
To spice it up, I added a bright yellow bag and gold bangles to play up the yellow in the dress.  You could also choose to draw more attention to the blue or purples or play it classic with black accessories.
From the back, the dress is still on the conservative side, but there’s a small keyhole detail.
I think this colorway “safari lake” is my fave, but it also comes in a neutral “black jaguar” print and a pretty multicolor “sunset cheetah.”

For Fall, I always like to wear booties with my dresses, but heels or dressy sandals also work.

You can find the entire Gibson x City Safari collection online at Nordstrom.

LEOPARD PRINT RUFFLE DRESS

Leopard Print Ruffle Dress  • Similar Clear Heels •  Designer Version Bag • Similar Gold Bangles

How fun is this leopard print dress?!  As soon as I saw it, I started thinking: 1) I hope it looks good on a short girl, and 2) where could I wear this soon?  Well, good news on both fronts- it fits perfectly and I got two of my girlfriends together for a girls’ dinner and it’s always fun to dress up!

The dress has a flirty ruffle and small front slit on one side.  It’s partially lined and the shoulder straps are adjustable.

Dress Fit: I’m wearing size XS and it looks like the Large is almost sold out.

SNAKESKIN DRESS

Snakeskin Dress  • Sandals • Bag • Similar Gold Bangles

Here’s the snakeskin print I was telling you about.  I adore it in this dress because the pattern is bold, yet neutral and I love the shape of the dress!

It’s a classic sheath dress cut with almost-cap sleeves and a delicate mini front slit.  I think this style is great for lots of occasions and some of you could even wear it to work.

Dress Fit : I’m wearing size XS

I also love the price – under $50!

These are the sandals I scored at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and they are the perfect transition to Fall shoe.  A combo of sandal and nearly bootie with the on trend cutouts and ankle buckle.  Plus, I love the wooden block heel and how tall it makes me appear! #illusion #5’1

I’ve had this crossbody bag forever and it never goes out of style!

  1. Hi Megan! I have a question about the first dress. If you took off the belt, would you have more of an a-line dress, or does it gather at the waist with elastic? Thanks.

  2. All of those dresses are cute! But I’m leaning toward the first one. The color is fresh and it’s a fun cut. Very cute!

  3. I like the second dress. Very flattering. I would throw on a red bracelet or leave your gold bracelets on and carry a red clutch. ?
