Thank you to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post.
Good morning friends! Yesterday was such a rough start for me after eating a whole pint of ice cream, drinking coffee too late, and then not being able to sleep until 3am! Those days are hard, but I did it to myself! Thankfully, I got good sleep last night and I’m glad because this afternoon I leave on a girl’s trip to San Antonio to celebrate our friend’s birthday. Our plans include a winery tour, dinner on the Riverwalk and hopefully some pool time at the hotel.
I’ll be sure to do a trip recap when I return. In the meantime, it’s all about boots and booties and how to style them. I came home with several pair of winners, still not sure I can keep them all, but I wanted to share the specifics about each pair, including sizing recommendations, along with a couple different ways to mix and match them in your wardrobe.
As always, I hope this post adds value to your life and makes shopping easier for you! And mark your calendar for tomorrow when the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to everyone!

NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE • BEST BOOTS & BOOTIES
I finally found a great over the knee boot that is slim and yet still comfortable and easy to pull on and off. The front is a soft faux suede, and the back has a stretchy back panel that stays put when you move. They are elongating with a pointy toe and 4-inch slightly chunky heel.
Boot Fit : I typically wear a 6 1/2 in boots and my true size fit in these.
I didn’t see this boot in my store, so I made sure to order it online when I got home. Thankfully, it was in stock and I was able to use the convenient BOPUS “buy online, pick up in store” option. I love that because you can often get your items quickly and you don’t even have to get out of your car. You just call when you pull up and a very helpful associate brings your bags to you! At my store, they were even giving out popsicles! Made for some very happy kiddos, especially in this heat. 😉
With an over the knee boot, a relaxed fitting or oversized sweater downplays the sexiness of the boot, while a cami or bodysuit amps it up. Over the knee boots also look great with mini dresses and skirts where just a little bit of skin shows between the end of the skirt and the top of the boot.
The boots also come in a slate grey that looks especially good with pink and white.
You guys went crazy for the Caslon wedge sneaker last year (I actually preferred last year’s style better), but this one is still good!
The wedge is “hidden” so you still get the elongated leg, with the sneaker look!
Fits small, I sized up half
This is my favorite high knee boot in the sale this year. I like the shape and how the suede part continues all the way to the heel. The toe is pointy and the quality with Sam Edelman is always on point. All of the shoes I have in this brand last forever!
Fits True to Size
These animal print slides are comfy and cute, perfect for being comfortable at work, on the weekend or running around with the kids. I guarantee you’ll be seeing these everywhere soon!
Fits small, size up half
I missed this bootie at first, but I’m definitely glad I saw it the second time around. It’s a great, basic bootie with a rounded toe, lower heel (2 1/2 inches), and bonus : it’s waterproof. It has a cute side stitch detail with a Western nod, but done in a modern way.
Fits true to size
Now I know why people rave about Cole Haan shoes! They are so well made and ultra comfortable with a deeply padded footbed. Try them on and you’ll see what I mean.
I could tell as soon as I put these on that the quality was a cut above the rest of the boots. The slingback style makes them great for wearing with shorts, skirts, dresses as well as jeans. I liked the wooden block heel and tiny perforations on top- plus the way the slingback is cut with that sassy side “V”.
They are a slightly higher price point, but well worth it.
Fits small, I sized up half.
The Nethera bootie will be your everyday-go-with-everything bootie. Even though the heel is lower (2 1/4 inches), it’s angled so it doesn’t look too chunky. The pointy toe elongates the look of your leg and they are easy on/off with a side zipper. The foxy suede is what I’m wearing and it’s a perfect neutral, soft brown color.
Bootie Fit : TTS
These are the peep toe booties I’m loving this year with a slighter higher heel and that cool, cutout design.
Fits large, I sized down half
These chunky heeled sandals haven’t gotten the attention they deserve! They are a wear now style that will carry you well in Fall. They’re well made and modern with the wide cuff and ankle strap. I like them with dresses and skirts, but also jeans and shorts.
Sandal Fit : Runs large, I sized down half

I loved styling all these shoes for you, and I will admit, it got me looking forward to Fall so I can actually wear all of these clothes. Fall is my favorite season! Which boots and booties are your fave this year?
