Style a Friend | Spring/Summer Boho Vibes
Hi friends! I hope your weeks is going really well. We’ve been having terrible thunderstorms, but thankfully everyone is safe and sound.
Y’all have been asking to see Ali-Shaun back here for a new Style A Friend post, and I’m thrilled to get her in here today, even if it’s just for a few things! If you don’t know Ali-Shaun, she is one of my closest friends and we met when our sons started Pre-K3 together 6 years ago. We’ve gotten even closer over the years and I’m so blessed to have her in my life.
This Style A Friend is a special one because it features the Gibson X Mother Chic collection that just launched this morning! The collection features a fun mix of boho styles for Spring and Summer and I was able to order a few pieces for each of us to try. I can’t wait to hear what you think!

Right out of the gate, this white eyelet top is my very favorite! I adore the fresh, breezy style and the way it’s cut. The front is a shorter, but it’s longer in the back – very flattering and makes your legs look longer. It’s fully lined and very well made. I’m liking it with jeans, but it would also be cute with cotton or jean shorts.

This white eyelet top looks good on everyone! It’s supposed to be generously cut on the sides, but the peplum style at the waist makes you look so slender. I think this is such a fresh, pretty top for this warmer months.

I wasn’t sure if this marigold color would look good on me- I usually think of this color as stunning on brunettes. But, I did like it once I put it on. The detail is fabulous with the pleated shoulder and mock neck. You could definitely wear this to work with black or white slacks or even a pencil or A-Line skirt.

How sweet is this little swingy tank?! It’s that same high/low hem that elongates your legs, while being super flowy and easy to wear. It’s a cool gauzy material and fully lined.

The swing tank also comes in floral too and I really like the deep pink color in it.

You guys! I’m crazy for the style of this dress! I wasn’t sure I could pull it off because it’s so bold red with lots of floral pattern. But, once I put it on, I loved it! It’s wonderfully made, with a full red lining, has a pretty flouncy hem, snap closure at the chest and 3/4 sleeves. You will get so many compliments on this one- trust me!

Ali-Shaun said she felt great in this dress and liked it for work to weekend. Obviously shoes would complete the look, but you get the idea!

This is what I’ll be wearing tonight to watch James and his school mates perform The Lion King tonight. I’ll be comfy and stylish and I’ll compliment his wild African attire if we (hopefully) get a picture together!
This dress is also fully lined with double spaghetti straps that criss cross in the back. It’s button front down to the knee, then has a little slit in front. It’s actually navy with white polka dots- not sure if it looks black on your screen.

This dress is so Ali-Shaun! She loves to wear blue and it looks great on her. The vertical stripes make her look so tall! This dress isn’t lined, but she said it still felt great on. She could also wear it to the office if she layered a cardigan over it.

She is such a good friend and we only had 15 minutes to snap her pics since she was running out the door to her daughter’s baseball game and I had to pick up James from rehearsal. These kids are keeping us so extra busy lately!

Love seeing Ali-Shaun! I really like seeing the same thing on two different body types. That really helps. I love her skinny jeans and was happy to see they were from the Gap. I was hunting for a new pair of jeans and remembered I really liked them in the past and just bought some skinny jeans there that I love. I realized that I never see any try-ons from any of my instagram friends from the Gap. I wonder why that is? Maybe you can be the first?
Yes, I love Ali-Shaun try-ons. It is so good to see these clothes on people of different complexions, hair color, body shapes, and height. I really like her in the gold ruffled collar top. If she ever moves to Indiana, I want her as my friend. 🙂
