Healthy Meals You Don’t Have to Cook

Thank you to ShopStyle & Sakara for sponsoring today’s post.

Did that title draw you in?! 😉 Even though I cook most of my own meals at home, I often wish there was a fairy that could deliver healthy prepared meals right to my door.  Sakara might not be a fairy, but it’s definitely a Godsend of a service that I’m beyond thrilled to have tried and would be happy to use again in the future.

I’ve used meal delivery services in the past and enjoyed them, but with those, you receive the ingredients and still have to cook them yourself. With Sakara, the food is already prepared!  You can eat most of it right out of the container or simply heat up in the oven or on the stove top.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when the first package arrived!  Look at all of this goodness! I ordered the Signature Meal Program that includes organic breakfast, lunch and dinner; detox teas; a functional supplement, and guidance and support from certified health coaches.

They also have a meal plan for Brides, a Best Body Challenge, a Detox, and 10-Day Reset.

When you order, you’ll be able to see the next week’s menu online so you know what you’re getting.

With Sakara, all the foods are designed for healing and nourishment.  They are all plant-rich meals, organic, ready-to-eat and free of gluten, dairy, refined sugars and gmo’s.

When Tisha was here taking these pictures, we laughed that the Green Dream Detox Mousse looked not all that different from baby food with the green, creamy texture.  But it was actually delicious and when you stir it up there’s a good crunch in it! I could seriously eat that every morning or in the afternoon as a snack and be a happy girl!

Sakara review

My lunch was equally as good with vibrant and fresh greens and the portion was large enough that I had leftovers. There’s 4-6 cups packed into each lunch and dinner.  Eating greens aids digestion, boosts energy, heals inflammation, balances pH, promotes weight loss and hydrates your skin.

I have to say, I really liked the honey mustard salad dressing and the La Cocina Bowl (with superfood mole and greens) was yummy with the crisp chia tortillas.

I liked replating their meals into my own bowls (from At Home if you’re wondering), but I love how easily their plastic bowls stacked in my fridge.  This Margherita Flatbread was so tasty!

Y’all know I like to enjoy hot tea. Sakara’s Detox tea is caffeine free and gently detoxifies the body and hydrates the GI track.  I love that you can get those benefits from simply drinking a cup of tea as opposed to doing something more aggressive.  And the Chocolate Love Muffin tasted like dessert!

Sakara encourages you to eat your food mindfully, plate your food, chew thoroughly and fully experience the tastes, textures and aromas. I  don’t think that’s something I’m really great at, but I’m willing to try!

These meals are great to grab and take to the office! I don’t have to go anywhere to get to work, but once in awhile you might find me eating at my desk if I have a pressing deadline.

I will say, it sure is nice to know you have a healthy grab and go meal available when you’re in a time crunch and don’t have time to cook!

The Detox bars are also delicious and good for on the go!

Even their packaging is gorgeous!

  1. Megan, your blog is a delight to read each day and your home is beautiful! Never see you with your wedding ring on anymore, hope things are well in your life!

      1. I’ve been keeping you and your family in prayer for some time. Just wanted to let you know that people care about you and even when you may not be aware, God is laying you on the hearts of His people and prayers are being lifted.

  2. Cute sponsored post, but at >$400 for 5 days even with your code this is quite the luxury, and even arguing about all the value provided in the order still doesn’t quite easy the pain of paying a month’s worth of food budget for 5 days.

Not criticizing you or your choice to work with this company since I see the connection to your brand (healthy, yummy meals, making daily routines easier, etc) but I believe in feedback and am not a fan 🙂

    1. Yeah, what this article fails to state is Sakara is mostly for the high class society. Im a concierge at a multi million high rise in NYC and they order Sakara, rarely. The middle and working class cant swing these prices. So good article but definitely not for us common folk.

  3. This is just what I need! I’m a pretty healthy eater and I workout but I still feel like there’s something missing in my nutrition and exercise program. And I think a detox and reset might be the answer! The menus for the next 3 weeks sound amazing. I’m planning on ordering the 5 day plan for the next month to get back on track to healthy eating (and hopefully bring my family of 6 on board with this way of healthy eating too). Thanks for making me aware of this service!

    1. I got a few comments like this so I was digging a little deeper and this is what I found about Sakara ‘s packaging:

We chose this packaging because it’s by far the most environmentally friendly material.

We use post-consumer plastic, which means the plastic has had a prior life. By giving it a second life in our meal containers, we’re saving thousands of pounds of plastic from ending up in our landfills and oceans.

While compostable containers might seem like the more sustainable option, that is not the case. There are two major types of compostable containers—those made from paper-based pulp and from plant-based plastics. Pulp or paper-based containers are often lined with resin, which then makes them no longer compostable and becomes waste. Both types of materials require the use of a specific composting facility (this isn’t your backyard composter!) which is not available to most people in the US—in fact, there are only about 200 of these facilities in the entire country. Adding to the issue, plant-based plastics are not recyclable. Thus, even if you want to compost or recycle the containers, they most likely will end up in landfills—where they take just as long to break down as a plastic container or any other waste (up to 1,000 years!).

In addition to the effects on the environment, neither material allows us to provide the highest level of client experience at this time. We are committed to ensuring your food arrives fresh and temperature controlled, for the crispest greens, the freshest fruits and the most beautiful, delicious meals possible.

This is why we’ve chosen to use post-consumer recycled plastics at Sakara. We encourage you to recycle our containers after you’ve enjoyed your meal! With your support, we can make sure their life continues and the plastic never finds its way into our landfills or oceans.

  4. I do love to eat this way and spend a good amount of my time creating meals so I would LOVE to order this service but maybe another company will figure out how to do this for much less than the $420/week price tag. Great idea though!

    1. I was thinking about that too. The service is pricey although I did feel like the portions were generous and you could make them stretch even further.

  5. I’ve been keeping you and your family in prayer for some time. Just wanted to let you know that people care about you and even when you may not be aware, God is laying you on the hearts of His people and prayers are being lifted.

    1. Dawn, your message brings tears to my eyes. Thank you so very much for your prayers. I strongly believe in the power of prayer and do feel covered. Praise Jesus, my family and I are blessed beyond measure. I’m sending love back to you! I hope you receive double the blessing!
