Spring Break Style

Thank you to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post!

Happy Friday friends! It’s been a week of celebrations over here! Monday was Jordan’s birthday and Wednesday was mine! Thank you so very much for all the birthday love!  Each thoughtful message to me and Jordan was received with gratitude and joy!  You made it a great week!

We were planning to go out to dinner Wednesday night, but we all felt a little under the weather, so we’re postponing until Sunday.  Last Saturday, I got to get together with my best group of mom friends and they treated me to a dinner out at Ousie’s Table.  My girlfriends mean the world to me and it’s so important to make time to see each other in person.

Little Blue Dress (1)

Ruched Minidress • Similar Round Bag • Nude Heels

I wore this darling little blue dress and felt really good in it!  Even though it’s a mini dress, the higher neckline balances out the shorter length and the ruching helps flatter your figure.  The sleeves are slightly fluttered which is also a nice detail.  I couldn’t believe it was under $50! If you want to change it up from the Little Black Dress, this is a fantastic option!

Andrea got away before we snapped this pic, but I’m so thankful for each and every one of these women.  I wouldn’t want to do life without them!

SPRING BREAK READY

I vowed this year to try to get out more.  We are such homebodies, but every time we get away, we come back with fresh experiences and bond together in ways we don’t do at home.   Do you find that’s true also?

Our Spring Break is early March, so it’s the perfect time to step out of our comfort zones and go somewhere new.  Have you made any plans for Spring Break? If you’re going somewhere warm, this post will help with what to pack!

SHORTS & TANK WITH FLIP FLOPS

Shorts, tanks, and short sleeve tees are on my list of Must Haves for Spring Break for sure.  Caslon makes great, quality basics that I’ve gotten so much wear out of over the years.

Khaki shorts black tank top and flip flops

Khaki Shorts • Black Tank • Floral Flip Flops • Similar Round Straw Bag

You can’t go wrong with their khaki shorts.  With a 5-inch inseam, they’re a great everyday length and ultra comfy for running around in or doing nothing.  I like that they’re mostly cotton (99%) with just a touch of spandex to give them a little bit of stretch.

The khahi will go with everything in your closet, but they also come in dark grey, olive and navy.

SHORTS FIT : These shorts run a tad big, I’m wearing size 0P and they fit roomy.

The Caslon tanks are also a quality, classic wardrobe staple.  In the Spring and Summer I wear them alone or dress them up with a necklace, but for Fall and Winter they are great layering pieces.   They’re 100% cotton and machine wash no problem.  At under $20, you’ll want to stock up on all the colors!

You’ve heard me raving about the u-neck tee before, but now it’s out in fun new Spring colors, including stripes.  That pink/navy/yellow striped top is calling my name!

Khaki shorts t-shirt and flip flops

Khaki Shorts • Floral Flip Flops • Pocket Tee • Hat

The tee is a u-neck style with a small front pocket.  It’s meant to be on the sheer side, but a nude bra doesn’t usually show underneath.

TOP FIT : I’m wearing size X-Small

The floral flip flops remind me of my Grandma Nola because the hibisus is the Hawaiian flower and that’s where she spent many years.  I love how the floral and stripes perk up your feet even if you’re really the only one that sees them!

Embroidered tee and jean shorts

Embroidered Top • Jeans Shorts • Miller Sandals • Choker

If you’re looking for a the comfort of a t-shirt, but one that’s got a little something extra, you love this tee with the embroidery detail along the neckline.  It also has slightly belled sleeves and flows nicely from your body.  It sold out fast, but luckily, has been restocked!

My jean shorts are the ‘old faithfuls’ I wore all year long last year and they’re still going strong!  If your Spring Break falls on St. Patrick’s Day, you’ll be ready with this cute 4-leaf clover tee!

FAUX WRAP JUMPSUIT

You guys! I’m so crazy for the next outfit!  Lots of times when we get the kids together, the adults like to enjoy a dinner out also, and this jumpsuit feels casual, but looks chic!

Short sleeve jumpsuit

Faux Wrap Jumpsuit • Snakeskin Bowler Bag • Strappy Sandal

This jumpsuit is pajama soft, and feels amazing on!  It fits like a glove with an elastic, drawstring waist and short sleeve faux wrap top.  The top fastens closed so you don’t need to wear any cami or tank underneath.

JUMPSUIT FIT : I’m wearing size X-Small Petite

As soon as I put this on, I didn’t want to take it off.  I love that it looks a little bit ‘going out’ but feels so soft and comfortable on.

To stick with the night out theme, I paired it with heels and my snakeskin bowling bag, but you could get away with sandals and a tote for a more casual look.

The bag comes with a detachable shoulder strap, so you can wear it on the shoulder or carry it by the handles.  It’s a great size for carrying all your essentials.

Ooh, I think I forgot to mention, it has pockets!  Why do pockets make everything so much better?! 😉

MAXI DRESS

I noticed this popular striped maxi dress is back in stock too.  This dress is another one that feels so comfy on, but looks a little more put together because it’s a dress.

ROMPERS

Striped shorts romper

Romper • Tory Burch Flip Flops • Choker

You’ll definitely want to pack this shorts romper wherever you go. This is a super soft knit that makes a cute outfit or even swimsuit coverup. The drawstring waist is fully functional for loosening or tightening the waist and this one has pockets too!

Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Resort Collection - ruffle trim romper

Romper • Similar Wedges • Choker

Can we ever get enough palm print in our lives?! I think the pattern still looks fresh and modern, especially in this ruffle hem romper with the way it’s cut and flatters the body.  It’s lined with pockets and the cutest ruffle trim!  It also comes with the patterned tie belt. I appreciate the little details like a snap closure in the front to avoid embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions.

SWIM

I’ve been on the hunt for cute new swimsuits and have both a new one and a returning fave to share!

Ruffled Striped Swimsuit

Ruffle Top One-Piece

This swimsuit gets my vote for being cute and kid friendly.  The neck tie is removable, so you can wear it bandeau style if you prefer.  The ruffle at the top will help accentuate a smaller chest and the vertical stripes make you appear longer.  Nice how patterns can do that for us!

SUIT FIT : I’m wearing size 2

Gingham one-piece swimsuit

Gingham One-Piece

This popular gingham one-piece is back, but unfortunately sizes are going fast!  It’s darling on with side ruching for a flattering look.

SUIT FIT : I’m wearing size 2

Gingham one-piece swimsuit with stripe sarong

Beach Throw/Sarong

I’m absolutely crazy for this beach throw that doubles as a sarong! It’s a gorgeous mix of pretty stripes and tassels that coordinate well with gingham and other prints or solids.  You can wear it several ways, I think the middle looks especially chic!

PACKING

Last but not least, I’ve been traveling with my rose gold luggage for years now and really enjoy the hard case.  The wheels are also so easy to turn and manuver, which makes strolling with it for long distances a breeze.  You can actually push it on all four wheels and you barely feel any weight!

And I’ll never travel without packing cubes now that I know how much more you can fit with them, not to mention how well they keep you organized!

This packing cube set from Oh Joy has my heart!  Aren’t they the cutest?!  They come in other adorable patterns, so I actually had quite a hard time choosing.  You really can’t go wrong with any of them!

These come in a set of 5.  Four are specially packing cubes and one is a large water-resistant envelope pouch for wet/dry storage.  The breathable mesh front lets you easily see what’s inside (#genius), and you can use the exterior label to name people or group things.  I also love how they have a top handle for easy carrying.

Okay guys, I’m off to spend the day with Jordan, we’ve got quite a Friday routine going and it’s so fun with her!  I hope y’all have a FANTASTIC weekend!
