Travel Goals

*Thanks to Nordstrom & ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post!

Yay for Friday!!  Did you have a good week?  I’m still on a high from photographing our fitness eBook yesterday!  And also quite sore because I did every exercise in the book – that’s four weeks of exercises in about 3 hours!  Having everything come together is so surreal and I’m more passionate than ever about this project that I’m certain will help you look and feel your very best!

I’ve known in my core that I’ve wanted to create something of real value for awhile now, so this project is especially meaningful to me.  I can’t wait to release it out into the world!

You can see the behind the scenes of our photo shoot on Stories- I saved it to highlights and I’ll be sharing more soon!  If you missed it, this week I also shared how I organize the kids papers (and more productivity tips), more details about the fitness eBook, the best sales, and January Loves!

TRAVEL GOALS

Last weekend, the kids and I took a day trip to La Grange, Texas to spend some time in the country with our friends.  We haven’t left home in a really long time and even though it was just an overnight trip, it was so good to get outside and get away.  Going on this trip made me realize how important it is to make time for adventures like this.  There was no wifi at the cabin and it was delightful!

The kids actually played with each other and had fun walking the land, playing football, dominoes, ping pong and making s’mores by the fire at night.

And the scenery was just gorgeous.  Talk about God’s glory!  Can’t you just feel how peaceful it is? I could definitely go for more of that in my life!

Well, if we end up somewhere sunny or you’ve got vacation plans on the horizon, I’ve got you covered in the easy travel and pool/beach department!

Black maxi and rose gold luggage

A couple years ago I invested in this rose gold set of hard case luggage and it makes traveling a breeze!  Not only do they look chic, they hold a ton of stuff and have wheels that move in all directions so you won’t find yourself in that frustrating one wonky wheel shopping cart situation.  You can actually sit the luggage on all four wheels with your bag on top and just roll it along.  Or tip it onto two wheels and pull it behind you.

I like the four wheel option if my bag is super heavy, because then you aren’t actually bearing the weight at all!

Whether you’re heading out on a road trip or flying, you want to be cute and more importantly, comfortable! This maxi dress travels well/packs well and is definitely easy to wear.  The shoulder straps are adjustable for a more custom fit.

DRESS FIT : TTS, I’m wearing XS and plan to wash and dry it to shrink the length a little.

I never travel without my denim jacket.  It’s the perfect travel companion and this one has lasted me many years and gets even better with wear.

FIT : This jacket is slightly shrunken so size up if you want a more relaxed fit.  I’m wearing XS.

Do you remember this straw hat from last summer?  I wore it all the time at the pool and it’s still in great shape!  I’m so happy to see that it’s been restocked this year!  I love it for shielding my face from the sun and also helping with hair you don’t want to bother fixing while you’re on vacation.

I’m looking forward to planning more little getaways like this in 2019 and have even started an automatic savings fund for it.  I’d love to go to the country again for a longer stay and James has been telling me “everything’s better in the Bahamas” and now he desperately wants to go there! ha!

Road trips are definitely easier in some respects because you don’t have to worry about fitting everything into suitcases, but when I travel by car, I tend to bring everything- pillows included!

My wedge sandals are still going strong!  They were one of your favorites of 2018 and are sure to be popular again this year.

SWIMSUITS

Now let’s talk swimsuits!  I found two super cute one-pieces that will let you splash around with the kids without feeling self conscious.  But they aren’t your typical ‘safe’ suits, these are sassy and fun!

BLUE CROCHET SWIMSUIT

BLUE AND WHITE SWIMSUIT 2

Blue One-Piece • Tory Burch Flip Flop • Straw Hat • Printed Tote (Similar in Canvas |Similar in Black Nylon)

As soon as I saw this vibrant blue suit, I was smitten!  It’s by one of my favorite swimsuit brands, so I know it’s a great quality suit with attention to detail and fit.

SWIMSUIT FIT : I typically size up in swimsuits, and I’m wearing a Small (size 4-6).

The blue color is so vibrant and the crochet ruffled detail at the chest is super flirty.  I also like the tie at the side.

PEACH & WHITE SCALLOP SWIMSUIT

Before I show you the swimsuit, I think you’ll really like this maxi cover-up.  It’s another one that I’ve had since last year but it’s still available and super popular.  You can wear it long and flowy or knot the bottom.  It also has pockets, which always adds another star.

You can easily throw this on after a day at the beach with a long chunky necklace and flip flops and be ready for a casual outdoor lunch or dinner.

MAXI COVER UP FIT : TTS, I’m wearing XS and had the length altered so I could wear it with flip flops

But how darling is this pinky-peach and white swimsuit with the scallop detail?!  It also comes in solid black and a fun olive/white polka dot.

Peach Bandeau One-Piece • Tory Burch Flip Flop • Straw Hat

SWIMSUIT FIT : The suit fits TTS, I’m wearing an XS, but felt like the bust was a tad small for me.  The straps are removable, but I didn’t dare;) . You ladies with a smaller cup size would look so good in this suit!

This post has me wishing for warmer days!  We had a taste of warm weather when we took this pictures at my friend Begonia’s gorgeous house! It was 70 degrees out!  But the pool was freezing! 😉

BLACK CROCHET SWIMSUIT

I couldn’t end this post without sharing one of my favorite one-piece swimsuits of all time.  It never goes out of style and has been one of your top favorites too the last couple of years.  My suit is a couple years old, but still very similar to the hot new crochet swimsuit you have to see!

I’m curious if you like the older or new version better??

Either way, everything in this post is from Nordstrom, and it’s super easy to outfit your next getaway from head to toe there.  The kids too!

And remember, Nordstrom always offers these awesome services : BOPUS (buy online, pick up in store), ROTUS (reserve online, try on in store), curbside pickup (my personal fave!); free shipping/returns (also super handy), and free alterations (super duper handy for us shorties!).

  1. Thanks for the tips, I’m traveling to Mexico in 2 weeks and already stressing about the packing! I’m an over packer, no matter how hard I try NOT to be!

  2. Love this post! I am heading to Cabo in a week so this is timely. I love your tortoise sunnies, any chance you could link them?

  3. Yes! Traveling to spain and France with the kiddos! Thinking of ordering the Amazon maxi dress you had styled this summer since I rather have something with sleeves. Probably should pack a hat too! I usually am really good at packing lightly since with 4 kids we don’t like to travel with too many bags. The zella in and about joggers are also a must for our trips!

  4. Love this post and the timing! We are saving for the Bahamas now. Can’t wait for your ebook bc I need to get into shape for vacay. Best wishes always!
