This & That
Good morning friends! It’s been a wild last couple of weeks! After traveling back to back to California to see my Granda Nola in Palm Dessert and then to LA for the Gibson Glam photo shoot, I came home on Thursday with a calendar full of things to do and projects to accomplish in the next couple of months. Needless to say, it’s gonna be busy, but there are lots of good things in the works that I can’t wait to share with you soon!
When I start feeling overwhelmed and like there’s too much to do, a good old fashioned brain dump helps tremendously! I got up early on Saturday morning and poured my brain onto paper and then started getting things organized. When you do that, it tends to make things feel less daunting. Do you do that too?
Today’s post is one of my faves, a This & That where I catch you up on what’s been going on and share some things I think you’ll like. Grab your hot cup of coffee (extra vanilla caramel creamer in mine!) and come on in, let’s chat!
GIBSON X GLAM PHOTOSHOOT RECAP
I wish I could have brought you along on the Gibson x Glam photo shoot! It’s always so fun to get together with all my blogger friends and you would have fit right in! But you are all going to be honorary members of the #GibsonGlamSquad as soon as you get your hands on the fabulous holiday collection launching at Nordstrom on November 12. If you missed my announcement about the collection, get caught up here.
Top • Similar Midi Leggings • Tote • Similar Military Jacket • Wedge Sneakers • Hard Case Luggage
I wore comfy leggings and a long sleeve top on the plane since I always get chilly. I like the midi length leggings because they aren’t too long and aren’t crop; rather a perfect in between length. They were perfect for sitting comfortably on the plane and then lounging around in at the house when we were relaxing.
It’s always fun when I get to catch up in person with this cutie. I’ve come to know and love Ashley more and more through the years and she is such a good, trustworthy friend. She cracks me up with how she Purells and disinfects everything in sight before she’ll let me sit down on the plane! #whatarefriendsfor
You better believe the first stop when we landed in LA was In & Out! We don’t have them in Houston and so we kindly asked begged the Uber driver to stop. He was so sweet, he ordered too!
But for the whole rest of the flight, they fed us really well- lots of beautiful, colorful, delicious food!
Below is the whole crew where we initially met up at the Gibson studio for lunch and filmed interviews. Nothing like jumping off a plane and diving right into a recording!
Then we headed out the door to the cutest little Nordstrom where you can order and pick up your clothes, get a mani/pedi and cocktails while you shop and make a girls party out of it. Sounds pretty fab to me!
AG Jeans on sale • Tank • Long Cardigan • Leopard Booties • Similar Crossbody Bag
I got so many compliments on these open toe leopard booties and I have to admit, I felt all kinds of fab in them! They are so super cute! This perforated open toe bootie with the same leg lengthening slit in front are darling too.
Top Row: Mallory • Sheaffer • Me • Dede • Sheaffer • Rachel Rachel Erin • Me! • Tara • Ashley • Cassie
Isn’t the holiday decor gorgeous?!
The best part about being away is always getting that girlfriend time! No matter how old we get, we need that face to face time with our friends to laugh and share and laugh some more. I’m honored to be included in this group with some of the best women I know. Not only are they gorgeous, talented and smart, they are the “what you see is what you get” kind. Adore and admire them all! ?
Magic Dress
Do you have the Magic Dress in your closet yet? I call it the magic dress because it’s one style that looks so good on all body shapes and styles- even pregnant mamas. I started with a grey sleeveless dress years ago and since that time I’ve added several more to my collection. I styled up the black sleeveless version for now and later (when it get chillier), but it also comes in a long sleeve version. Both are under $60!
Dress • Heels • Similar Clutch
And for cozier Fall days, you can cuddle up in a cardigan and trade the heels for boots.
Dress • Boots • Cardigan • Scarf
NEW FALL THINGS
I haven’t done a formal Dressing Room post in awhile, but I have gotten some new things I wanted to share with you.
Cardigan • Tank • Jeans • Booties • Eyeshadow Palette
I’m ready for cardigan season and found this chunky knit goodness for only $42! These booties have been on go-to mode since I got them because they are ultra comfy with the lower heel, but also so stylish with the way the heel is cut and the cut of the shoe. The color is perfect for Fall and goes with practically everything! They’re also on sale under $70 now! They also come in black so I highly recommend them if you’re looking for a bit lower heel.
I have to mention this eyeshadow palette. It was in my September Loves and it’s so good! The eyeshadows are so rich and pigmented and the colors blend beautifully. For everyday, I’ve been sweeping TEMPERA across the entire lid, then using BURNT ORANGE in the crease, and RUSTIC at the corners for added drama. Finally, I’ll dab a bit of FAIRY OR GLISTENING to the center eyelid for some soft shine.
Cowl Neck Reversible Sweater • Scarf • Jeans • Leopard Flats
The sweater is that softest cozy material that Gibson is known for and the cutest thing is that you can wear the side slit in the front or in the back. I’ve worn it both ways and it’s darling either. It comes in tons of colors and the striped one is really fun too.
These ripped jeans have been on repeat. They have plenty of stretch and a nice, darker wash and a little bit of distressing, but not too much.
Of course, I’m still loving leopard on my feet and these flats are still comfortable and dress up your look.
Striped Sweater • Distressed Jeans • Booties 33% off • Clutch (under $50)
Don’t the mix of colors in this sweater just say Fall?! It’s a soft pullover that pairs really well with jeans and booties. It’s generously sized with a boxier cut, so you might want to size down. It’s also 30% off right now!
Even though I love to get dressed up, often when I’m just working at my computer at home, I’m still in my favorite jean shorts and a lightweight pullover. This camo style sweatshirt says “Army of Love” 😉
Top • Black Jeans • Heels •
This embroidered peasant top is darling and you won’t believe where I found it! It’s sheer so you need to wear a cami with it (it’s not included), but it makes a fun night out top with black jeans and heels.
The jeans are high waist skinny jeans that tuck you in and make you feel super secure. I found they ran a tad big, so if you’re in between sizes, I’d size down one.
BODY SCRUB
Y’all are loving the all natural deodorant I shared with y’all last week. I admit I sometimes get overwhelmed with keeping up with all the knowledge about what’s good and bad for us, but I feel better knowing I’m using an all natural deodorant now.
When I was on their website, I also bought the coconut crush body scrub because I like to get a good exfoliation before I get a spray tan. If you aren’t careful to exfoliate your body before getting sprayed, you can end up with splotchy spots and no one likes that! I feel so much better when I have a tan, but I prefer the safe kind and who has hours to spend in the sun, not to mention how bad it is for us?!
Anyhow, the coconut crush body scrub smells divine and gently exfoliates your body and removing all that dead, dry skin, leaving your skin silky and soft. I got a spray tan two days before our photo shoot and I felt all glowy and confident during the shoot.
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
October is also Breast Cancer Awareness month and I’m honored to partner with Memorial Hermann Healthcare System to bring awareness and education to this special cause. ❤️
Starting next week, each Tuesday you can find me hosting a Facebook Live on the Memorial Hermann page. The first Live will be Tuesday, October 9 at 1:00 CT with Dr. Michelina Cairo, hematology and medical oncology specialist. Please tune in for this special interview that can help save a life.
And speaking of breasts, did you see that Colleen Rothschild released a brand new product to help with self breast exams? The “Breast” Friend Self Exam Body Butter uses rich butters and nourishing oils to provide the ideal slip and slide across the skin needed to help detect unusual lumps and bumps during self breast exams. It’s also an important reminder to regularly perform self-exams and schedule mammograms.
The packaging is fun and cheeky and the body butters smells really good!
