Hello and welcome back friends! I hope you had a glorious Easter weekend! Ours was so nice! The kids woke up to Easter baskets on Sunday morning and eggs hidden by the Easter bunny!
In their Easter baskets were a book for each of them (Llama Llama books are popular for little kids and James is all about geography lately), some toys, a new swimsuit, and a bit of candy. What do you put in your kids’ baskets?
Anyone with young kids knows it can be a challenge to get everyone ready and out the door at a certain time, but things went surprisingly smooth on Sunday morning and we even had time to snap a quick pic before church. That never happens!
The kids looked so cute all dressed up for Easter and when I looked at this picture, I’m amazed at how grown-up James is becoming! He’s such a good big brother and she adores him! I do too!
Sunday afternoon, we went to my SIL’s house for dinner. She pours a mean mimosa, but it was a wonderful ending to such a special day! I’m just glad we have one more day off school today!
Work • Weekend • Wow
I’ve so appreciated your positive comments and messages on the Work. Weekend. Wow series! I’m planning to make it a regular feature since you are enjoying it! If you missed it, the WWW highlights one piece and shows you how to style it for the office, weekend and a night out (wow).
Since we’re now in April and most of us are pulling out our white jeans again, this Work. Weekend. Wow series focuses on how you can wear your white jeans so that they are also work appropriate. I had so much fun putting this post together (and I have three pair of white jeans to feature: my budget-friendly frayed hem jeans; best distressed; and best all around and super opaque), so I made it two posts. Part 1 is today and I’ll show you Part 2 tomorrow!
You could wear the frayed hem jeans with all the looks, but I wanted to give you some options! At the time I’m writing this post, those budget-friendly frayed hem jeans are 50% off, making them just $40!
If you missed my White Jeans Review, go here to see my detailed review of 10 popular white jeans styles ranging in price from $69 to $198.
Okay, first up, y’all loved this top when I showed you a sneak peek during the photo shoot. At the time it wasn’t available online, but now it’s fully stocked in all sizes and comes in more colors!
I’m partial to this ‘confetti’ print because it’s fun and bold, even with just a bit of contrasting color. The front twist gives the illusion of a partial tuck without the effort of trying to get that tuck right! I’m also a fan of 3/4 length sleeves- they are comfortable in the warmer months and let you show off your arm jewelry.
Twist Hem Top Fit: It runs big, I sized down one to PXXS.
The combo of colors in this shirt will work with not only white jeans or white pants, but also blue jeans, and navy pants/skirts.
I wanted to feature white jeans that could work in an office environment, and this pair is great because they are opaque and not tight like so many jegging/legging white jeans, so you should feel quite confident in them.
White Jeans Fit: TTS, I’m wearing size 25.
They double fraying at the ankle makes them more casual, but that’s also part of what I love about them!
A good pair of cognac heels will work with so many outfits, including this one. They look great with the reversible faux leather tote also. If you’re a long time reader, you know how special this bag is to me. ♥
A fitted blazer makes everything look more polished, but I wanted to show you how good your jean jacket will look with this outfit. It picks up the blue in the top and the fabric coordinates with the jeans.
Jean Jacket Fit: Fits TTS, but is a shrunken fit, so size up for more room. I’m wearing XS.
Sometimes with a printed blouse, you aren’t sure what kind of necklace to wear. You really can’t go wrong with the Kendra Scott Rayne pendant necklace! It really goes with everything. I have this one in a few colors, but the white looked good with the jeans.
And to answer the most asked question of all . . . “what is that pink drink?!” It’s a take on the Starbuck’s Strawberry Acai Refresher and has passion passion fruit, freeze dried strawberries and coconut milk. Just ask for the ‘pink drink’ at Starbuck’s and they’ll know what you mean. It’s on the sweet side, but actually really good and only about 105 calories for a tall! And it looks good in a photo! 😉
Next up is our weekend look. How can you go wrong with a lightweight gingham button-down top and a little bit of leopard?! Bonus: the top is on sale 40% off, making it just $35 right now & it comes in purple and aqua! I think I should get both those colors now! I actually don’t have any purple in my closet and I’m a February baby!
It’s a crinkle, light fabric with a centered back seam so it will fit you better. You don’t have to take this button down to the dry-cleaners; it’s machine wash and dryable.
Gingham Top Fit: Fits TTS, I’m wearing 00.
These are the jeans I was telling you about that have just the right amount of distressing. Not too much so that you feel ultra exposed or ratty, but just enough to make them hip. Because of the distressing, I wouldn’t wear them to work, but for the weekend, they are perfect!
Jeans Fit: TTS, I’m wearing my normal size 25.
Do you have a skinny leopard belt in your closet? If not, you need one! I promise you’ll be surprised at how often you’ll wear it! It adds that little pop of interest with just a tiny bit of leopard! Imagine this outfit without it, it just adds that extra something!
Of course, you want comfortable shoes if you’re going to be out and about running errands or chasing small kids around, so these leopard sandals are durable and well made. #andleopard But they come in solid colors too!
And I can tell you, ever since I learned the Aviator Fit Trick, I’ve been comfortably wearing mine! Before that simple sunglass hack, I never thought aviators my face.
I now have them in blue (this pair) and black and both have held up really well since I got them. I keep a pair in my car at all times and one in my purse. They are good for not only protecting your eyes from the sun, but for adding a pop of color up at your face! I also like to wear mine at the pool because they are so lightweight.
I saved the best for last! I’m super fond of this night out look. How seriously darling is the denim peplum tank?!
It’s a nice thick denim material with wide shoulder straps, a little bit of a sweetheart neckline and peplum waist that makes you look super small in the middle. I also like the stitching and raw edge hem.
Denim Top Fit: TTS, I’m wearing XS. It fits quite snug, so I went sans bra, but you could wear a strapless bra or backless bra with it. The backless bra works best with these types of tops/dresses that are fitted at the bust.
And let’s talk about the jeans. These were at the top of my list for best white jeans, so I was actually surprised to see that they got such mixed reviews. I liked them because they are totally opaque, very comfortable and stretchy- like a cross between a jean and jegging- with faux front pockets, and a cute white button. The only con is the price, but when you find the holy grail of jeans, sometimes they are worth the splurge.
White Jeans Fit: I originally reported they fit TTS and I’m wearing 25, but after wearing them for a day, I felt like I could have sized down 1 to a 24.
One reviewer said she didn’t like that the pockets were faux, but I count that as a plus because then you don’t see any extra white fabric at your thighs. I guess that’s a matter of personal preference.
Another size 27 reviewer said she loved them:
If you tried these on or have them, let me know what you think in the comments!
I didn’t think a top like this needed much of a necklace, so I wore my modest adjustable Kendra Scott necklace that you can wear a few different ways.
Isn’t it pretty how you can wear it with the long part hanging down. Would be especially pretty with your hair up or for you gals with short hair!
I actually just got a couple hair extensions, but I didn’t have them yet when these pictures were taken. I saved the video of me getting hair extensions to my Stories Highlights if you want to check it out.
I think it’s s good sign oh a night out outfit when I felt like going out as soon as I put this on! 😉 The leopard clutch also says “night out” to me! Like the leopard belt, it’s definitely something you’ll reach for over and over again in your closet!
Did you like this White Jeans version of Work. Weekend. Wow? I hope so, because Part 2 is coming up tomorrow!
Have a great Monday friends!
