Today it’s all about fun looks for Spring, think gingham and vibrant stripes, from a place you might have overlooked! I tend to fall into the camp of ordering things from the same few places because it’s easy and I’m familiar with those sites and their customer service, however, I’ve gotten requests to add new retailers into the mix, so today’s post is for YOU!
Today is all about affordable (and stylish!) head to toe looks from JCPenney! If it’s been a while since you’ve shopped there, I urge you to take a second look! I was quite surprised at the wide selection and even more impressed with the reasonable prices and great sales! #seriouslyeverythingisonsale
With our weather heating up, I’ve been pulling out my jean shorts a ton, but sometimes you want a short that looks a little more ‘presentable’, and even better when it comes in a bold black and white gingham pattern!
These shorts are cotton flat front with faux front pockets and a zip and button fly closure. They have belt loops in case you wanted to tuck a top in and belt it. Of course I love the gingham, but they come in 14 other colors and patterns. You can machine wash them and you won’t believe the price- only $17!
SHORTS FIT: TTS, wearing size 0.
As for the top, I love a relaxed fit tunic because it’s as comfortable as a T-shirt, but looks like you gave a little more effort. This one is lightweight and buttons up the middle with a closed seam that hides the buttons.
It’s got a high/low hem (longer in the back), so you’ll be able to wear your leggings with it when it’s cooler out. I did a knot tie in the front with the shorts, but you could also tuck it in or wear loose and untucked.
TUNIC FIT: TTS, I’m wearing XS. XXS would probably be a better fit for me.
And can we talk about these wedges for a second?! A short girl’s best friend! Gives you added height, without sacrificing comfort!
The crisscross around the ankle has stretchy fabric so it will mold to your foot and they zip open at the ankle for ease taking them on and off!

When running around with Jordan, I’m all about a cross body bag! I found this simple bag at JCPenney in several colors and for only $20, I had to get two!

Need more gingham? Me too! I found a darling pink and white gingham dress that is just begging to attend your next luncheon, shower or derby party!
It’s a modest cut with a crewneck. The fit and flair silhouette is super flattering. It comes with the cute pink skinny belt to accentuate the smallest part of your waist.
Dress Fit: This dress fits true to size, I’m wearing the 2P and did not alter it, therefore it’s slightly long on me, but I actually like this tea length.
This dress is also kid friendly. If you are out with your children, you won’t be falling out of it if you have to carry a kid on your hip or need to bend down! The length is also good for bending over… or windy days.
I always wear my nude heels, so I thought it would be fun to mix it up with yellow heels for this dress. JCPenney has these yellow heels that are similar, but with a lower, bit chunkier heel, so they’ll be easier on your feet.
The straw and white tote bag I found at JC Penney is definitely full of Spring vibes! Aren’t the floral details adorable?! I bet a Mom would love this bag for Mother’s Day!
It’s a great size for carrying everything you need, with an inside zip pocket, 3 slip pockets and a big middle zip bag to keep you organized.
A white jean jacket also looks great with this dress. We may be getting tons of sunshine and warm temps here, but I know lots of you are still feeling the cold. I’m sure you are SO ready for the Spring weather!!

striped maxi dress
Finally, I wanted to show you one more dress that is really unique with the halter style top and asymmetric hem. The aqua and coral colors got me immediately!
DRESS FIT: The dress fits TTS, I’m wearing XS, but in retrospect, I wish it came in XSP so that it would be a little bit smaller overall for a petite frame.
This dress is so fun and flirty and I could see wearing it to a party or brunch or out on date night! I love how the back flows when it catches the wind!
Here is that second crossbody bag I got- this time in the pale pink.
If you aren’t crazy about the stripes, this dress comes in a gorgeous solid coral color.
I’m never far from my jean jacket lately, and I like how the dark denim contrasts with the Spring colors in the dress.
If you do get this dress, I think it would look so good with your hair up to show off your shoulders!
