April Loves

Good morning friends! We made it past hump day, so hopefully we’ll be on the downhill slide to the weekend now! Thank you all so much for letting me know you like the skincare and food posts!  I like to keep my blog content varied and relevant, and getting your feedback means a lot to me!

One of my favorite monthly series is the Monthly Loves posts!  I’m always on the hunt for the best, new things to share with you and I enjoy the creative task of putting together the collage.  Imagine my surprise when I went to Polyvore to make this one and there’s no more Polyvore!  Overnight, the site is gone replaced with a shopping site.  So weird!  But, I also use PicMonkey to make collages and that’s how I created this one!  I’ve heard good things about Canva too, so I’ll try getting familiar with that resource too.

And speaking of resources, I’m heading to a blog conference next week and I was wondering if you’d be interested in a recap of all the blog-related things I learn while I’m there.  Please let me know in the comments!  If you want it, I’ll make sure to take detailed notes, but if you aren’t interested, I don’t want to bore you with a post!

♥ APRIL LOVES

If you’re new to Monthly Loves, I share things I’m loving each month, with the aim to highlight fabulous things I swear by, some things I might want to try, great deals, and under $50 finds!  All perfectly appropriate for the flavor of each month!

Gold Arched Mirror

Our master bedroom makeover is really coming along!  After putting the wallpaper up, I felt like our grey walls were clashing with the paper so I decided to paint the walls to better coordinate with the paper.  We went with Sherwin Williams Divine White in satin finish, which is the same color as our doors and trim and cabinets. The sitting room got a paint update too, to make the rooms cohesive, and I pulled down the fabric that was lining the back of the bookshelves.  It looks so much cleaner now!

Divine White is a very creamy white, not at all bright white.  Near our bed, where it’s the darkest, the paint even looks almost beige in photos. But, you can see that towards the bottom of the wall, near the trim, appears much lighter.

Our walls also got a new addition with the gold arched mirrors from Joss & Main and the marble lamps.  Our old mirrors were too short for the wall, so these taller mirrors make more of a statement in the room. And of course, I love the touches of gold!

I’m still so happy with the softest sheets (that YOU clued me in were discounted here)!

You guys are just as into skincare as I am now, and I’m so glad you found my skincare routine post helpful!  The Discovery Collection is on my list of faves this month because it’s a perfect way to introduce you to the Colleen Rothschild line while saving you a ton of money!  I definitely take cost into consideration when I share things with you!  This 7-piece kit (6 products and a practical travel bag) is a great way to get you familiar with the best selling Colleen Rothschild products, including my favorite Radiant Cleansing Balm  And when you use my code HWH20 at checkout, you’ll save an additional 20% off, so you get everything for just $75 with free shipping!

Gorjana Tanner Bar Necklace

It rarely happens, but my fave everyday necklace is price matched 25% off at Nordstrom right now.  I wear this necklace so much because it just gives your outfit a little something special while still being minimal and feminine.  I even wear it with my swimsuits!

Boyfriend Jeans

As much as we love our skinny jeans, sometimes you’re not feeling all that skinny and would prefer a more relaxed fit.  I like these boyfriend jeans for being easier to wear, while still having a slim fit.  I’ve had good luck with Kut from the Kloth brand.  That’s who makes my fave jean jackets – the light wash and darker wash.  The jeans are always good quality and under $90.  They usually carry petite sizes, but not in these so I wasn’t able to grab them.

I’d wear these cuffed just like on the model, but probably with this wedge or flat sandals.

Pale Pink Nail Polish • Perfect Pink Lipstick

You guys don’t miss a thing and all wanted to know: 1) what nail polish am I wearing? and 2) what lipstick?  This nail color has been on repeat the last several times I’ve gone to get my nails done and is called “Lisbon Wants Moor”.  It’s a perfect pale pink but with a bit more pigment than say, the popular Bubble Bath.  I’d say it’s my signature color now! I haven’t gotten tired of it yet!

It’s the same with the lipstick.  I’ve always liked MAC lipsticks because they don’t have any weird taste or smell and the color lasts.  This one is called Snob, and it’s pretty moisturizing lipstick with a bit of a sheen to it.

Ankle Pants • Striped Clutch

I just saw they brought these adorable ankle-tie pants back!  You will love them because they are like pajama pants you can wear outside! And with pockets! We all love a pocket! I got them last year and loved them with flats on weekends and heels for a night out.  I really like the new striped pair! They fit TTS, I’m wearing XS.
The clutch looks smaller online, but is actually a nice size!  It has a wristlet handle, but I prefer it clutch style.  And you can’t go wrong with a black and white stripe!

wedges

By the way, I’m also smitten with these wedges that my friend Sheaffer was raving about recently! She wore them at a conference we went to last month and was saying how comfortable they were, and that her feet didn’t hurt at all after the long day!  They are so cute, so I tried them for myself and really like them too!

They go with practically everything for Spring (dresses, skirts, shorts, rompers – you name it) and fit TTS.

Maxi Cover Up

How about the flowy goodness of this maxi coverup and how you’ll wear it to every pool and beach this summer! ☀️??I loved it so much, I got it altered at the bottom so I could wear it with flip flops!

Chunky Heel Sandal

I’m thrilled to find a new nude heel to wear that is a bit more stable and comfortable than my typical stiletto heels.  This pair has a chunkier, slightly lower heel, so they will be easier to wear for all day.  I like that the heel isn’t so blocked that it makes your legs looks squatty- rather, just enough to offer more comfort.

But, I also adore them in the denim fringe and pink suede!  Both are perfectly appropriate for Spring- even the suede!

Tory Burch Miller Sandal

Okay, it’s not just my loves, everyone and their mom LOVES the Tory Burch Miller sandal!  It’s because not only are the cute as all get out, but they are also really well made and last forever!  For fit, remember to size up half because they run small.

GOOD NEWS: I found them for $50 off with FREE shipping!! Woo hoo!

To get the $50 off, you have to have a $200 purchase in your cart and the sandals are $198.  So, you need to add a “qualifying purchase” of at least $2 to get the $50 off! #tricky

But: to make it easy, here are some thing you can add to your cart to get the discount:

Rifle Paper Notebooks (Set of 2) ($14)

Ponytail Holders (Set of 5) ($12)

Newborn Hat ($9)

Of course, if you don’t want to jump through those hoops, you can always get the Miller Sandal at Nordstrom!  They come in a rainbow of colors and are sure to coordinate with all your Spring and Summer outfits!

Scallop Flat Sandal

This scallop sandal is super cute too and looks to have a bit more cushion than some flat sandals I’ve seen.  And I know you guys liked the JC Penney outfits, and these sandals are from there- on sale for under $16!

Scallop SandalsHONORABLE MENTION

My new fluffy, flip flop slippers deserve an honorable mention here because they are AMAZING!  I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of slippers forever, and the UGGS and other slippers were too hot for my feet.  These are perfect without making your feet sweaty!  I hate walking on my hardwood floors in bare feet because, even though I vacuum all the time, I’m inevitably stepping on some kind of gross crumb!  And, our floors are slippery with socks, so that doesn’t work.  But, these pink fluffy slippers are the answer! I mean, you can’t hide the happy from my face!!

  1. Hi Megan – have a fantastic time at the conference next week ? Don’t make yourself crazy about all of the details, but if you are going to Vlog or write a Blog about it, I would certainly be interested in it. It would be fun to be there through your eyes. Enjoy!!!!

  2. Hey Megan, great finds! To answer your question about the conference post…YES! 🙂 My husband and I started a travel blog a little over a year ago, and have yet to dip our toes into the conference pool. That day will come, but in the meantime, I pay close attention to what “my bloggers” have to say. If I happen to be the only one that said yes ;), no worries, because I follow you on insta!

    1. I’d definitely encourage you to go when it makes sense for you! That’s where you’ll meet people and make invaluable connections! And I often learn more in the hotel room chatting with my friends than from some of the actual conference speakers!

  3. I would absolutely love a recap of all you learned at the conference! Which one is it?
I’ll have to try the MAC lipstick. I hate when you get that yucky taste with some. Pink is my color!
    Have s good trip!

  4. I have been following your blog for so many years now and rarely ever comment. But your blog is one of the highlights of my day. I don’t know how you always make it so fresh and relevant, but you do!! I would love to hear about the blog conference, as I find that stuff fascinating. But I would be equally fine if you said “I’m taking the day off and hitting the pool.” You deserve it!

    1. That is so sweet Milly! Thank you for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it! I’m going to have fun with the girls at the conference, but I hope to learn something too! 😉

  5. Hi Megan,
For the ankle tie pants, do you have them in petite or regular? They are just offered right now in a regular length. I’m about the same height as you so just wondering if the regulars would be too long or not?

  6. Would love to hear about the blog conference, but not if it’s going to make you crazy taking notes! I have the Elan cover-up and have been trying to figure out what length to alter it to. Did you alter for flats or heels?

    1. Great question! I altered it for flats because I was envisioning taking kids to the pool! I’ve already worn it to a pool party and it was great!

  7. Megan – What is the shade of pink MAC lipstick that you’re wearing? I thought the shade is “Perfect Pink” but that’s not listed in their pinks. Thank you!
