Dressing Room – Swimsuit Edition

I always feel like celebrating that we’ve made it to Friday!!  You too?!  It’s been a busy week over here with our Spring Home Tour on Monday, my Everyday Makeup Routine on Wednesday and March Loves yesterday!  Y’all said you’d like to see the makeup tutorial in a video, so I’m working on creating that for you!  Thanks for letting me know!

This weekend kicks off our Spring Break and also ends our basketball season!  After the last game, I’ll spend the rest of the weekend getting us ready to go to Colorado for a ski trip! It will be Jordan’s first flight and her first time in the snow.  Y’all might need to pray for us!!  But thank goodness for friends that lent us ski clothes for the kids so we didn’t have to buy new things just for a few days!  If you’re going on a trip where the kids will only wear seasonal things for a short time, put a call out on FB to borrow clothes and see who responds, you might be surprised!  Thank you Tisha and Leslie so much!!

DRESSING ROOM – SWIMSUIT EDITION

Today’s dressing room post is a special edition featuring, you guessed it, mostly swimsuits! I did a similar post last year (here & here) and they were really popular with y’all so it’s time to do it again!  I tried on a ton of swimsuits (one-pieces and bikinis) to get you all ready for Spring Break!  I don’t think swimsuit shopping is anyone’s favorite thing, but I hope seeing these suits on helps when deciding which one is right for you.  I tried them on Stories yesterday and saved them to Highlights so you can check that out too for a ‘live’ detailed review.  And you better believe I got a spray tan for this! 😉

For size reference, I’m super petite, 5’1, 108, 34D.  I usually wear size Medium or Large in bikini tops and Small bottoms.  I’m a Small or 2 or 4 in one-pieces.

Smocked Bikini Top M • Navy Bikini Bottoms S • Ruffle Bikini Top M• Smocked Bikini Bottom S

For an adults only pool party or vacation, I loved these bandeau style tops!  The first one with the shoulders was so darling and the shoulder part is just attached with a few stitches, so you can still easily move your arms.  After swimming, just throw on your jeans shorts to keep partying!

I also liked the flirty ruffled bandeau top, but I wish it had a removable strap option.

The navy bikini bottoms are a nice fit and felt comfortable on.

The print bikini bottoms were so cute with the stretchy smocked detailing, but I couldn’t find the matching top at my store. The print even comes in a matching cover up!

Reversible bikini

Cold Shoulder Topʉۢ Reversible Bikini Bottom

I loved the ruffled cold shoulder top and how easy it was to move in.  The back laces up and you can tighten it to fit as needed.  I’m also a fan of the brown/aqua color combo and print.  Bonus that the cute bikini bottoms are comfortable and reversible.

*I couldn’t find that second top online, so I’ll update it when I do.  It’s reversible too.

Fit: TTS, Top- Large, Bottoms, Small

High Waist Bikini

One shoulder top • High waist bottoms

If you’re looking for a high waisted two-piece, I found a sexy one for you here.  The bottoms are flattering and also sassy with the cutouts.  The one-shoulder top has similar cutouts on the side.  I was actually surprised how much I liked this on!

Fit: TTS, Top- Medium, Bottom- Small

Black Ruffle One Piece Swimsuit-1

Ruffle One-Piece

This ruffled one-piece is extremely comfortable and easy to wear.  I didn’t feel like the top was going to fall off or go up my shoulders.  The material is nice and thick and feels like a high quality suit, silky smooth.  The shoulders stay put and it’s really easy to move in.  This one gets 5 stars!

Fit: TTS, 4

Red One Piece Swimsuit-1

Bandeau One-Piece

I’m feeling all Baywatch in this red number! It’s a keeper for sure! It has removable shoulder straps and breast cups too. You’ll definitely stand out in this siren of a suit!

Fit: TTS, 4

Purple One Piece Swimsuit-1

Embroidered One-Piece

I almost didn’t try this suit on because I wasn’t crazy about the small embroidered flowers, but it is SO very figure flattering on. I think it’s one of the best ones as far as accentuating your figure in this group because of the detailing on the waist and the way it’s cut!  The criss cross at the top opens it up, but not too much.

Fit: TTS, Small

Navy One Piece Swimsuit with cutouts

Asymmetrical One-Piece

The shiny navy on this suit is brilliant and yet sophisticated.  I like how the side cutouts give you a little extra va va voom and the double strap one shoulder top is fun too.  It’s actually reversible with a pretty pale blue on the other side.  It’s modest in the back, but very comfortable and very well made.

Fit: TTS, Small

Lace One Piece Swimsuit

Becca Show & Tell One-Piece

This swimsuit is just hot, no doubt about it!  I love the crochet detail and how it’s artfully placed to emphasize your hourglass shape!  I’ve seen this suit on all kinds of body shapes and it always looks amazing!  And the straps are adjustable.

Fit: TTS, Small

Tory Burch One Piece Swimsuit

Black & White Swimsuit

I adore the classy look of this swimsuit! The white sides give you the illusion of a more hourglass shape and I like how it appears that there’s a belt around the middle!  The underwire provides good bust support and the cups are molded to help hold you in place.  I feel like I need a fancy pool party to wear this to!

Fit: TTS, Size 2

Black One Piece Swimsuit-1

Leith One Piece

This is a sassy, simple one-piece that is definitely not a ‘mom suit’ with the plunging neckline and high sides!  It’s hard to tell from the photo, but the suit has a bit of texture to it.  It also comes in red. Wowza!

Fit: TTS, XS

Rainbow One Piece Swimsuit-1

Surforama One Piece

How darling is the rainbow detail on this suit?! The rainbow straps continue on the back and the suit is actually navy, not black.  It’s quite a sexy cut in the back, pretty cheeky!

Fit: TTS, Size Small

DRESSING ROOM

Okay, let’s put some clothes on and show you a few items I received from my friend Erin’s collaboration with Gibson.  The Living in Yellow x Gibson collection launched yesterday and I couldn’t be more proud of her!  I know she and her team have worked tremendously hard on this project, and it’s got to be surreal to see if finally come to fruition!

How amazing must it feel to see your face and designs on the Nordstrom website!!  Isn’t she a cutie?!  And love that striped top!

LIYxGibson

LIY and Gibson skirt and white tee-1

Skirt â€¢ V-Neck Tee â€¢ Sandals

This skirt is so comfortable and I actually threw it on over one of my swimsuits while I was doing the try on because the furniture delivery guys came in the middle of it.  Turns out, it makes a great cover up as well as weekend errand outfit with a drawstring waist and pockets!  It comes in 4 colors (one of which is STRIPES!) and it’s the perfect length! So glad she has petites!!

The top is one of those basic white v-neck tees you can never have enough of, but this one is super soft and very opaque.

That tassel necklace I showed you in March Loves would be super cute with this outfit!

Fit: TTS, XSP in both

LIY and Gibson black ruched dress-1

3/4 Sleeve Faux Wrap Dress  â€¢ Leopard Heels â€¢ Necklace

I swear they hit it out of the park with this dress!  It’s so ultra comfortable and flattering!  The material feels like you’re wearing pajamas, but it’s a great quality that feels amazing on. I dig the neckline, 3/4 sleeves, and the flattering rushing.  This is one of those dresses that everyone will look and feel amazing in.  I can’t believe it’s under $50! And comes in more colors!  Date night, please!!

Fit: Runs big, I sized down one to XXSP.

Leopard Heels-1

Leopard Heels

And can we talk about these leopard heels for a minute?! I’ve been waiting forever for a pair like this to come back in stock! They have a tall, stiletto heel and pointy toe that definitely amps up your outfit!  They are made with calf hair and look so sexy on!

Fit: They run small, so size up.

LIYxGibson lavender tank

Lavender Top â€¢ Jeans â€¢ Leopard Sandals

I was worried this lavender top was going to be too big by looking at it, but when I put it on, it actually fit quite nicely!  The shade is very pretty in person and looks great with white jeans.  You could also tuck this top into your slacks or skirt. You can’t tell from this pic, but the back dips lower, covering your rear.

Fit: TTS, XSP

LIYxGibson stripe cardigan

Striped Open Cardigan

This type of cardigan is a perfect warm weather staple because is nice and lightweight. This drapey style looks good with a tank and jean shorts or dressed up with slacks or jeans.

Fit: TTS, XSP

That’s it for today!  Thanks for sticking with me through the awkward swimsuit selfies! I hope the try-on was helpful! Have a great weekend!

  1. You look gorgeous in all those swimsuits but I actually LOVE the one with little embroidered flowers! Isn’t it funny how the things we sometimes are most hesitant to try on end up being what we like best? I didn’t know Erin had a collab with Nordstrom — amazing, thanks for sharing!
