My Favorite Tunic & Faux Fur Vest with Leggings

Hi friends! Are you having a good week?  I hope so!  Having a big chunk of Christmas shopping done has me feeling good! Because I’m OCD, I’ve been tracking everything on Evernote so I know who I have gifts for, what I’ve spent, etc.!  I usually just keep written notes and store them in a file folder, but having access to it on all my devices anytime is a lifesaver! In the new year, I have more organization content for you and I’ll do a post about Evernote since I know a lot of you had questions about how to use it!

I’m also excited to start sharing some of our Christmas decor and a few new (dessert!) recipes!  Sure, we want to keep up with fitness, but it’s also the time for a little indulgence, right?!

One thing I find so luxe is a faux fur vest! I always feel extra fancy when I wear it! It’s a great piece to dress up your jeans for a date night or GNO with jeans and a long sleeve top, but it also looks great with your leggings!  Did you catch the other two legging outfits yesterday?

I’m wearing the Hue wide waistband leggings.  They’re the best I’ve found for comfort, quality and fit- being perfectly opaque, washing well, and holding up for years!  They fit TTS and I wear XS with some extra length on me that I just bunch up a bit around my ankles. A reader, Jenelle, clued me in that Hue has a SKIMMER ankle length version, perfect for us short gals, so they don’t bunch at the bottom if you’re wearing flats.  She said they run a little bigger though.

Which brings me to this question: Do you wear flats with leggings?  I can totally see that working, but I always wear mine with boots!

I have the two-year-old version of this faux fur vest and I still love it! It looks quite expensive, but it’s under $80 and it feels very silky and soft.  It’s got pockets and fits ONE size and says it’s machine washable/line dry.  But, if you lean in closely, I can tell you that I’ve never washed mine.  I didn’t feel like it needed it!  The new version is more solid cream and also comes in black.

But this tunic is SO GOOD!  Do you remember when I first showed you the lilac version in my Must Have Tunic for Fall post??

This Must Have Tunic is similar in style to it’s sister “perfect roll tab sleeve tunic” (33% off), but the fabric is different.  The Must Have Tunic is soft and silkier, with a heavier weight fabric that feels more substantial, and it’s a few inches shorter.  The sister tunic is lightweight and semi-sheer, so you might need to wear a cami underneath.  The Must Have is opaque, so you won’t see through it.

You can see from the back that the tunic has a nice longer length to it.

And I loved my black zipper-bottom crossbody bag so much that I bought it in tan! The bag is a must have for travel or for running around everyday with kids.  I do have a separate little toddler tote that I’ll take into restaurants with Jordan’s sippy cup, utensils, bib and plastic placemats, along with a small book and crayons.  But I don’t like to keep all that stuff in my bag!

I always like to give you various outfit options, so with this one, I changed the vest for a suede moto jacket.  I like how the cropped jacket works with the longer tunic.  Whenever I wear this jacket, I feel instant chic!  You can also see it worn with white jeans and a shirt dress.

Suede Moto Jacket XS

FIT TIP- I’m 5’1, about 106 and wearing size XS in this jacket.  I have this faux leather jacket in the same brand and it runs small, so I’m size Small in it, but this suede jacket I’m wearing in this post runs more TTS and the Small was too big on me.  I can zip this jacket up, but I prefer to wear it unzipped.

Are you into the faux fur vest?!  And what about those leggings- do you wear yours with flats or always with boots?

  1. I should probably wear leggings only with boots because I’m a “more mature” age. I don’t want to look like I’m trying too hard to look young, but they’re so comfortable. I want to wear them with flats, though, because it resembles the Audrey Hepburn look.

  2. I wear leggings a lot with flats (they look really good with Tieks or other ballet flats) more than boots because it’s more comfortable. Love throwing on flats, leggings and a tunic. My more polished running around crazy Mom look. I feel like the leggings and flats elongate my 5’1.75″ frame. I feel like a fur vest would eat me up and I live in San Diego so I’d probably get lots of weird looks since it never gets that cold.

    1. My favorite ballet flats are my Yosi Samra. They are so comfy and have held up forever! Definitely great for feeling more dressed up than sneakers. I’ve always wanted to visit San Diego- I hear it’s beautiful!

  3. You look gorgeous as always Megan. Where did you get your vest from two years ago? Love the color of it.
That whole outfit with your vest and boots looks stunning on you.

  4. Love all of these! Want to order the tunic you’re wearing but Nordstrom description says Washed Black. It seems paler than yours but no other black options. Is yours the Washed Black? Thanks and love your site!

    1. Hi Patti! I just looked and I don’t recall the name of mine, but there was a black onyx color listed too. I wonder if that one is darker.
