Our Fall Home Decor

And just like that it’s nearly Thanksgiving!  How did it sneak up on us?! Even though we’re not hosting this year, we’ve already been to the grocery store for drinks and appetizers (we’re bringing a meat & cheese tray- so not vegan!- but always requested)  so I’m feeling good about being ready!  Today, I’m taking the kids to the zoo and I’m super excited because it will be Jordan’s first time!

I’ve already shown y’all our Thanksgiving-Ready Dining Room,  and today I have a look at the rest of the house.  In reality, we already have our Christmas trees up, so the house it a bit of a hodge podge of pumpkins and Evergreens, but this week we’ll be putting away Fall and going full-blown Christmas!  I’m hoping my trusty helper will be in the mood to decorate- but I don’t think that will be a problem!

For Fall, I slowly sprinkled in touches of Fall decor, nothing too crazy, just switching out the cooler colors we’ve had in Spring and Summer for the warmer tones of Autumn. And I always go on a crazy decluttering and organizing kick before the end of the year, I think I’m mentally trying to prepare for all the toys that are about to enter the house at Christmas!

ENTRYWAY

I’m thankful to have James to help with the finishing touches!  In the entryway, our console table (covered with faux marble contact paper!) got a Fall facelift with a tall vase filled with faux branches and berries.  As much as I love real flowers, those tall branches make such an impact in a large room and you can use them over and over for years.  It’s a good thing, because they are pricey! A big mistake I made early on was not buying enough- you need several to get that full look!

Living Room

I really loved the statement these gorgeous orange blooms made in breakfast room, looking into the living room.  I’ve had them for years and got them at World Market- a great place for relatively inexpensive and realistic looking faux branches!

In the living room, I replaced the blue and white pillows with orange and white and plaid pillows and brought back in our orange throw blanket.

Sectional • Blue/Tan Rug • Ottoman • Leopard Velvet Pillow • Buffalo Check Pillow •  Lamps

One of the things I’m asked about the most in our home is the media cabinet and where you can buy it.  It’s actually a built-in piece that was created when we built our home 8 years ago. I’m constantly arranging and rearranging the shelves and they are at a place I’m happy with for now- except for that top row.  I’m gonna rework that . . .

I’ve loved the look and feel of our living room rug, but sadly, I can’t recommend it because it hasn’t held up.  This room does get a lot of foot traffic, but after only over a year, it’s started to fray badly at the corners.

The upholstered ottoman is a family friendly option for houses with young kids.  The square shape fits our sectional well and we use the bottom shelf to store Jordan’s books. We read everyday and it makes it easy to just pull books out from under there and put away when we’re finished.

Stairway

The stairway is home to our Christmas tree and if you follow me on Stories, you saw a sneak peek yesterday!  It’s all bright and shiny and RED this year!

Kitchen

Even in a small kitchen, your counters can be styled with pretty vignettes that do double duty as decor and function. I have a whole post about that here.

Jordan is finally at an age where she leaves Mommy’s cookbooks alone, so they are happily back on the shelf in the island after having been bare for so long!

I don’t think I’ve shown you pics of our kitchen in awhile, but it’s mainly stayed the same with a bit of rearranging here and there.  The ‘Farmers Market’ sign I found at Buc-ee’s- a local truck stop, of all places!

We take our morning coffee very seriously around here and keep our beans decanted in a giant mason jar.

I love the view looking into the foyer. Those stripes were a labor of love!

Breakfast Room

About a year ago, we switched out our wooden rectangular dining table for this round marble table and I couldn’t be happier about it.  I was worried that it would be too big for the space, and there isn’t a ton of extra room, but it works!  The white marble really brightens up this room and I enjoy the atmosphere of our family eating dinner around a round table.

I do keep placemats and a simple place setting here all the time, and we just move them at dinner time when we actually eat. I just like how it looks and it also has a bonus effect of not letting any clutter accumulating there- as often happens on flat surfaces.

I feel like I’m so late in sharing our Fall home decor, but with Thanksgiving just a few days away, it kind of made sense squeeze every last drop out of this season before the Christmas flurry hits!  I hope you enjoyed the tour and if you missed our Fall dining room, you can see it here.  It’s one of my all-time favorites! I will have a Christmas tour up for you in early December!

Have a great day friends!

A huge thank you to my talented photographer, Colleen Scott, who made our home come to life through her lens!

    1. Thank you so much for that compliment! I found lots of inspiration on Pinterest when we were building too! Such a good resource- along with Houzz!

  4. Megan you have done a beautiful job decorating your home. It’s stylish and put together, but still so family friendly! We had a similar media unit in our previous home, it was actually the Liatorp unit from Ikea. I really miss it, I loved the storage and shelves to style! I always got stuck on that top short shelf across the TV, that is a tricky space to fill!

  5. Hi Megan:

Your home is absolutely stunning. Such a lovely home!!! May I ask where you purchased your blue kitchen rugs?

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

    1. Hi Angela! That’s a funny story, but it’s actually just handmade out of metal and they built it custom. The first one we had I didn’t like, so we had to add onto it with what we have now.

      1. Hey Megan, Thanks for the reply!

Which one is your & from the pic I can’t tell the color gold, silver, copper or any other & also let me know the price range approx. if you remember pls

        1. Oh wow! That’s awesome! I think ours are the 14inch and silver! But I don’t remember the price because we bought all of the lighting for the whole house at once so it all added up!

  6. Hi Megan,

Your kitchen is beautiful! We’re building a new home and we’re selecting our kitchen counters in two days! I was wondering if you’d share the brand and style name of your counters. They’re exactly what I’m looking for!

    Thanks so much!
