Fall Fashion | Work to Weekend
Hi friends! It feels like this week is flying by! We’re already to Wednesday and I’ve worked out twice and we completed a big home decor photoshoot on Monday so I’m feeling like I’m winning at life this week! Ha! Those home photo shoots are a ton of work because you have to get everything all photo ready and that’s no easy task with an active toddler running around! But, I wanted to get some good pictures to share with you and we also photographed my walk-in closet so that I could share all the ways I keep it organized and functional! You guys have asked lots about that and I can’t wait for you to see!
Today, I’ve partnered with ModCloth to share some of their latest Fall line and I think you’ll really like it! I like ModCloth for their unique styles that I don’t see at my usual places and they also carry a fantastic selection of plus sizes. I’m excited that Houston is finally cooling down and we’re getting a chance to wear sweaters and eventually layer on jackets and coats. #itsabouttime!
As I checked out, I noticed a burgundy/cabernet color theme happening! I bought this coat and blazer in those bold hues, along with an adorable sweater with heart detail, a little black dress that can go from day to night, and a versatile black skirt! All of these pieces can be worn interchangeably for both work and weekend, and I know y’all appreciate that!
Let’s start with the sweater because that’s one of my favorites!
Sweater S • Jeans TTS • Scarf • Boots • Bag • Sunglasses
I love this punch of burgundy and how great it looks with a plaid scarf added to the mix.
And just #stopit! with the little v cut-out at the 3/4 sleeve and tiny bow detail!! I’ll be wearing this one from now until Valentine’s Day! It’s super soft too!
Sizing: Runs small, I went up from XS to Small in this one.
Sweater S • Jeans TTS • Scarf • Boots • Bag • Sunglasses
I was also happy to find a well-fitting basic black A-line skirt that can easily go from day to night. I couldn’t believe I didn’t already have something similar in my closet, because there are so many top options that would look great with this and it’s a skirt you can wear year round.
Black Skirt XS • Sweater XSP • Earrings • Similar Scarf • Tights • Boots • Sunglasses • Similar Bag
This skirt hits just-above-the-knee and has an A-line shape that sort of trumpets out and swings a little when you move around!
Sizing: Runs small, I’m normally 0P in skirts, but the XS fit me perfectly. I ordered XXS also, but it was way too tight.
Although most sweaters would be worn untucked, this sweater is thin enough for tucking in and I kept the jewelry minimal for a work-appropriate look. If you feel you can’t pull off knee high boots at work, just swap them for pumps. But if you’re already in a colder climate, you’ll appreciate the boots and tights!
Y’all know I’m a big fan of neutrals, but you can always add in a pop of color and pattern with your scarf. This plaid scarf has a great mix of navy, gold and even pink! This one is old, but I’m sure you have something similar in your closet. Or if you’re like me, you have 28 similar scarves! You’ll see soon in that closet post!
When it really gets cold outside, this coat will be your best friend! It’s high quality, plus something a little different and more fun than your standard winter overcoat with the wide neckline and slight hi/low hem and pockets!
Coat XS
I like the pop of color it adds to your outfit, but it also comes in a chic black and a bold leopard if you really want to make a statement!
Sizing: This coat fits TTS, I’m wearing XS and have enough room to layer a sweater underneath.
All bundled up- someone hand me a hot cocoa!
I also found this amazing velvety soft blazer in a really pretty cabernet color. It’s luxe and feels expensive on, but it’s under $100. A structured blazer will always make you feel instantly pulled together.
Dress S • Blazer XS • Similar Bag • Shoes
It’s a piece that dresses up your work look, but you can easily wear it with jeans for a dressy night-out. I’ll show you that tomorrow! And of course, it will be excellent for holiday shindigs.
Sizing: The blazer fits TTS and I’m wearing my regular XS, although the sleeves were a slight bit long. You can scrunch them up some, for a more casual feel.
And last but not least, I found your perfect LBD that will take you from work to weekend and will be a great dress for parties and Fall weddings. It’s got a smart, structured shape with wide tank sleeves and a demure v-neckline. It’s the same dress you saw in this post with the furry leopard coat!
Sizing: This dress runs small, I went up from my usual XS to Small. I’m 5’1 and didn’t do any alterations to this dress, but I could raise the hem if I wanted it shorter.
Black Dress S • Pumps • Similar Bag • Necklace
For an evening look, switch out the black pumps for something more fun like your favorite leopard heels and a statement necklace. Now you are instantly date-night ready!
Leopard Pumps • Similar Necklace • Crossbody Bag
I’m quite smitten with the skinny bow belt the dress comes with too. It’s got a tiny bit of gold detail and looks like something you’d see on a Kate Spade dress! Pretty indeed!
