The Pants I Can’t Stop Wearing Under $30!

Hi friends!  That Monday was a tough one.  9/11 never ceases to conjure up some pretty deep feelings, espeically if you watch the montages highlighting all the people affected, the service men and women and then the precious kids.  It always feels like it just happened, even though it’s been 16 years now.  And coupled with Hurricane Irma, it’s a lot.  I’ve seen that so many of you in Florida are without power and I hope it gets restored soon. I remember losing power for 10 days during Hurricane Ike and that was no fun. Everything slows waaaay down and you still walk into a room and flip the light switch without thinking because it’s such a natural thing to do!  I’ve been praying that you and your homes are safe!

If you need a respite from all the heartache lately, I hope I can lighten the mood with some good girlfriend fashion chit chat.  Today, I’m highlighting one of my favorite things from last month’s Dressing Room post.  I obviously can’t buy everything I try on #Iwish, but when I find something super great that I know will work well with other things in my closet AND I can style them many ways, it’ll take it!  Kinda like yesterday’s cargo pants (on sale 40% off now).  And with these crazy soft tie waist cargo pants with a tapered leg and elastic ankle.  And pockets.  Did I mention the pockets?!

I’m super excited to give you all the details on them, but I also love that I get to share the good news that, although they were originally $70, they are now on sale for only $30! THIRTY!!  I don’t like to get all dramatic here, but if you want them you better run before they sell out!

Although you did see these in the dressing room, that bad lighting and iPhone pic didn’t really do them justice.  I wanted to show you them in their true soft basil green color in the natural light of day!  But, they also come in a pretty blue.  #oneofeachplease  Do you do that too? Buy multiple colors if you find something you really love?

What makes these cargo pants really great is how soft and smooth the fabric is, and beyond comfortable, but also the cut and how slimming they are for your figure.  Even though I’m petite, I have bigger thighs and some pants make my short, thicker legs look squatty, but not these!  That ankle hits just right and the seaming detail is in all the right places, not to mention, pockets!

They’re versatile too, so scroll down to the bottom of today’s post for more outfit inspiration with these pants.

Sizing: They pants come in both regular and petite, but run big.  I sized down 1 to a 00P.

The striped top has the cutest tie back w flutter sleeves! It goes perfectly with these pants, but also looks great with jeans (see that look at the bottom too).  I sized down to XSP.

You guys have heard me talk about Starfish Project jewelry here, and this necklace is another one of their pieces that I’m smitten with.  The muted green and neutrals complement lots of things in my wardrobe and the gold plated agate pendant at the bottom adds that extra element of interest.

And if you’ve been reading my blog for long, you’ve seen my carrying this HWH Must Have faux leather reversible tote.  I feel like I tell the story about it every time I wear it, but it’s so special because it was a Christmas gift that my Dad picked out for me several years ago.  I’ve carried it a ton over the years, and it’s held up really well.  In the Spring I do sometimes reverse it to the aqua side, but I usually wear the tan on the outside.  I can throw everything in there and it all fits, but somehow the bag doesn’t overwhelm me.

I’ve given the black/tan combo as a gift on many occasions and it’s always a hit.

I think a lot of times we feel like if we want to be comfortable, we throw on a pair of jeans, but these cargos are an even comfier option and if you wear them with a heel like I did with this first outfit, you’ll feel a little more dressed up.  But, I also wanted to share a few more ways to style them, so I took a few glamorous mirror selfies to give you some options.

First up, everyone has a white tee in their closet and these pants play extra nice with yours and a jean jacket layered on top if you’re already in that ‘transition to fall’ mode. I chose my $25 rounded neck staple white tee with a pocket because I love the way it drapes and the effortless look.  This outfit has weekend written all over it and you’ll still be adorable in it!  The tee comes in a million colors, even stripes!

The jean jacket is the one I scored at the Nordstrom sale and it’s a great basic layering piece with a pretty, mid tone wash.  And 40% off now. I like that it’s got a good bit of stretch and you can easily cuff the sleeves for a 3/4 length.  It’s a little heavier than the light blue one I have, but it’s still pretty lightweight.   It runs a little small (XS fits like a shrunken jacket which I like) but if you’re in between sizes you might want to size up.  I also like how the pop of blue looks with these green pants.

Since getting these ultra cushiony sneakers, I’ve been wearing them a ton!  I searched for the perfect pair of black slip on sneakers forever, but these were the clear winner!  They run big, so I sized down 1/2 and can wear a thin no-show sock with them or wear them without socks.  These no show socks are great- they keep their shape and have little grippies at the bottom.

For a long sleeve look, I grabbed this super soft black and white top that makes another great basic layering piece.  Think puffy and faux fur vests or chunky knit cardigans!  You could tuck the top in, but I think it looks better out and with the tie belt removed so there’s no bulky weirdness right in the middle of your shirt!

I’m wearing it with my new BFF, this crossbody bag that I’m seriously in love with.  I know I’ve told you about it before, but I don’t think I showed you it on.  Here you can see it’s just the perfect size and doesn’t make you look like you grew and extra hip.  The top part unfolds to give you two deep inner pockets, and then smaller slim pockets inside.  And it has outside pockets on either side.  It’s just a genius crossbody and worth every penny! And remember the bottom part unzips to give you even more room if you need it with adjustable straps.

And finally, I wanted to give you a peek at the striped top with jeans.  Cute, right?!  I even put on my booties for ya so you could get those good fall vibes! These boyfriend jeans are more like slim girlfriend jeans, not super baggy.  They are basically a breather from your skinnies and I like this ankle length for showing a little skin above the booties. The distressing isn’t too wild either. Size down though because they run big, but they do come in petite!
