The Must Have Tunic for Your Fall Wardrobe

I get so excited when I find one special thing that checks all the boxes: 1) fantastic quality 2) great fit 3) stylish 4) comfortable 5) multiple styling options 6) multiple colors and 6) awesome price.  Those pants in yesterday’s post fit the bill, and so does today’s Must Have tunic!

A flowy and perfectly drapey top like this is your BFF because it’s super stylish, but also non form-fitting and very figure flattering. And guess what? This one wrinkles waaay less than this popular tunic. It comes in black (just ordered!), light grey, and white also for only $39!

This Must Have Tunic is similar in style to it’s sister “perfect roll tab sleeve tunic” (33% off), but the fabric is different.  The Must Have Tunic is soft and silkier, with a heavier weight fabric that feels more substantial, and it’s a few inches shorter.  The sister tunic is lightweight and semi-sheer, so you might need to wear a cami underneath.  The Must Have is opaque, so you won’t see through it.

Sizing: This Must Have Tunic runs TTS and doesn’t come in XS, so I’m wearing size Small.  I machine wash it and just lay flat to dry without any issues.

Wear this tunic with your perfect T-Shirt bra (it’s seamless and wireless) so you don’t get weird bra lines showing through!

I love the versatility of this top that you can do a front tuck with, or leave untucked.  Did you like how yesterday I shared more ways to style a piece at the bottom of the post? My goal is always to make fashion fun, but also useful so that it actually helps you get ideas for how to mix and match your own wardrobe.  At the bottom of today’s post, I’ll share a couple more ways to style this top.

I’m still getting ton of mileage out of these nude strappy heels, but did you see the dark blue?!  So pretty for fall!

I’m all about a 3/4 length sleeve, and this rolled sleeve stays put with a button tab.

Here’s what I mean about the bum-covering length!

I like these dark wash skinnies I’m wearing here (40% off now), and just saw this newer pair by the same brand that come in petite.  I dig the darker color, like a midnight blue, perfect for fall/winter.

MORE WAYS TO WEAR

I like showing you more ways to make things in your wardrobe fit together because sometimes we get in a style rut thinking, ‘oh this shirt only goes with these jeans.’  Wrong!  I have two more jeans and a pair of pants that all look fabulous with this top and they’re all from Nordstrom.

You guys agree it’s one of the best places to shop (especially online) because their website it easy to navigate with big pictures and tons of helpful reviews. The free shipping and returns makes shopping online a no brainer. But, every time I go into the store, I’m so impressed with the helpfulness of the salespeople.  I’ve always gotten the best customer service there.  But I digress!

Although you can do a mini front tuck or opt to leave it untucked, this tunic isn’t too long to tuck in all the way. And if you tuck it your top into these bootcut jeans, you look like #legsfordays!  Even us shorties!  The jeans are nice medium weight with a decent amount of stretch, so size down.  And they’re also budget friendly!

The tunic would also look smart tucked into this faux leather pencil skirt.

Grey and lilac is a particularly pretty combo and if you scored a pair of grey jeans at the Anniversary Sale, now’s the time to start wearing them!  (I showed you mine originally here with this pink top). The jeans are on the thinner side, and a super skinny fit. But I’m excited about all the color options that go with grey from neutral to all the jeweled fall tones.

Even though this top is longer in the back, I still felt like it was a little too short in the front for leggings (unless you layer with a cardi), but with the thicker ponte pant, it was perfect.  Pair with classic black pumps and a leopard clutch (or this snakeskin clutch – on sale only $53).

I hope this opens up some new wardrobe options for you!

And I wanted to ask for your advice!  I was invited to speak to my friend’s Mom’s group at her church about fashion and I’m honored, but nervous!  I’m totally comfortable talking to you everyday, but standing up in front of a room and talking to a group of people I don’t know is intimidating!

What you can help me with is: what would you want to hear about if you were attending!  I know transitioning to your fall wardrobe is a hot topic right now, as is how to mix and match things, but if you have specific things you would want to know, I think that would help me prepare.  It’s next week! so send your suggestions my way!! Love you guys!

  1. Since you will be talking with moms, you should encourage them to take the time to dress cute every now and again. I know I sometimes get into a rut of wearing workout clothes. I definitely feel better and are more productive when I look cute. Also, a “use what you have” in the closet talk would be fun. You could show to to style a few key pieces.

  2. I’d be interested to hear your opinion on must have closet staples, what to splurge on, how to level up the “mom uniform”, recycling summer items into fall wardrobe…. hope that helps! good luck!!

I love those boot cut jeans. I need to keep my eye on them and wait for a sale.

  3. Just a few questions the ladies might have: What are the trends for fall, how to dress different body types, how to find your fashion style, where to shop. I hope that helps. I know you’ll be great! Your blog is one of my favorites, and I’ve gotten so much fashion inspiration from you.

  4. I’m assuming they are older woman, so I think a good topic would be how to dress stylish but age appropriate. So show them what’s on trend for this fall (it’s all about the sleeves’ and how to wear that trend for their age group. Maybe they can’t wear skinny pants, but they can wear slim pants. Please tell them never to wear those pants that hit them below the knee and are wide and polyester! Makes they like short and dumpy. Also talk about color and how color looks on different skin tones and hair color. Hope that helps. Video your talk for your blog!

  5. The ideas above are great! I’d love to hear what you consider wardrobe basics, then how to mix/match them for style and seasons. Have a great time, I’m sure it’ll be fun!

  6. My suggestion for your talk would be how to accessorize your wardrobe with a few necklaces/scarves etc. I always wonder what necklace goes best with the style of top I am wearing……..and how to incorporate scarves for the fall/winter to add a pop of colour to your outfit.

  7. Shoes!! And please share your thoughts with those of us who won’t be there. I feel like the hardest part of transitioning into a fall wardrobe in the south is dealing with the time between flip flops and boots! It can be 80 degrees in October here in NC! Comfort is important for moms I’m sure, but also for us girls who work and spend the day in heels. For evenings at a casual restaurant and weekend errand running we need a stylish comfy look and I don’t mean “athleisure”! And surely there are two or three staples that can get you through so we don’t have to break the bank. Love your blog – and you’ll do great at your talk!

  8. Love your blog. I second the reader above who suggested on talking about where to splurge and where to save. I would also like to hear about shoes and balancing comfort and style. My feet are special snowflakes and cannot take so many cute styles. Flat sandals are so painful after about 20 minutes. Whatever you talk about I know will be great!

  9. Megan, I want to second any suggestion about mix and match. Show those ladies how you can make several looks with a basic few good pieces. This would cover all age groups.

  10. I’d talk about how to build a wardrobe, which pieces to start with, how to rewear with different accessories, etc. You’ll be great!

  11. Mom’s can have such a hard time giving themselves permission to take care of themselves. Encourage and challenge the mom’s to take a wee bit of time each day to feel beautiful; whatever that looks like. The benefits are like ripples in a pond, affecting everyone in a positive way. Self confidence, positive body image, and increased self esteem are always great things to model for our children. I think you’d be a great example of that.

  12. Great suggestions so far! I think what sets you and other fashion bloggers apart is your ability to accessorize, dress for your body shape, and create a unique outfit by mixing and matching patterns. Also, I think it’s sooo important to get a good bra! So many moms post-kids (including yours truly) need all the lift and support they can get! Good luck on your presentation. You are so down to earth and likeable on the blog. These ladies are lucky to have you share your expertise!

    1. I’m getting so many awesome suggestions for you and I have a whole outline in my head now! I’m definitely gonna start with making some time for yourself and loving yourself, and when we start on the fashion part- I’ll for sure start with good foundation pieces- the best bras and panties I’ve found! I’m still nervous though!!

  13. You will be awesome at that!
i agree with the comment above – encourage moms to take a few minutes each day to make themselves feel beautiful.
Also, I like seeing different outfits put together and how to add a scarf, necklace, etc to jazz it up, or have power points of photos of yourself in casual and a night out look. Even your tutorial on curling your hair would be helpful to other moms.
You will do a great job!

    1. I can plug in my laptop and use that for part of the presentation, so I’ll have to arrange what I want to show so I’m not stumbling around! Thanks so much for your input Kathy- it really helps!
