Can I get a giant Amen for getting the first week of school under our belt?! It was emotionally and physically draining, but we made it through! I’ve heard from so many of you moms of older kids who’ve assured me it doesn’t get any easier and the pang of separation still stings even after all these years. But it’s heartening to know we’re all in this together and that we’re all going through it at the same time, even if our kids are different ages. Thank you for your sweet messages this week. It felt so good to hear from you!
Now onto today’s massive Dressing Room post. My last dressing room posts were all about the Nordstrom Sale and fall/winter clothes, so it’s great to get back to current weather favorites. With a few sweaters thrown in there for good measure! I found some things I fell hard for like the first pair of cargo tie-waist pants, the hook and eye peplum tank and these awesome boyfriend jeans! All of those are at great prices too! #bonus!
For size reference, as most of y’all know, I’m super petite, 5’1, 105, 34D. I usually wear 0P or 25 in jeans and XS or 0P tops. I include the size I’m wearing after the links, but if you have any questions, just leave a comment or email (honeywerehomeblog@gmail.com) or DM me on Insta!
And, I should have my newsletter ready to go this Saturday, so if you’re subscribed, be on the lookout! If you want to sign up, enter your email address on the right-hand side of my blog! Thank you!!
Striped Top XSP Tie Waist Cargo Pants 00P
The softest, coziest tie waist cargo pants are on sale + extra 50% off! ??? The striped top has the cutest tie back w flutter sleeves! I sized down in both (00P in pants, XSP in top). The pants come in a pretty blue too and I’m ordering those too!
The lighting was bad in the dressing room and you couldn’t get the best sense of the colors, so I snapped a quick iphone pic at home in natural light. See how the top has a tiny bit of green in it and the stripes are more blue than grey.
This is one of 3 necklaces I just ordered from Starfish Project, which is dedicated to helping exploited women and girls. Their story and mission is very moving and the jewelry they create is stunning. You’ll be seeing this gold chain necklace soon and this long double beaded coral beauty.
Striped Sweater XS Floral Embroidered White Jeans
I love these lightweight type sweaters and this one is super cute with the gray and white stripes. #keeper I’ll be throwing this one on now with jean shorts!
Blue Sweater XS
The sweater was a little bit on the thicker side but one of those perfect summer sweaters that’s on the light weight side and kind of stretchy. The marbling is so pretty!
I’ve been seeing lots of jeans with embroidery lately and this white pair has just enough to add a pop of color, but not enough to feel overwhelming. Unfortunately, they didn’t have my size, so the pair I tried on were way too big. But, these jeans would look so good with a red or blue top.
Sweater Tank XSP
The comfort of a sweater with the silhouette of a tank! I adore the marbling in the pretty red color on this one, definite keeper! I’ll wear it now with shorts and then into Fall and Winter, you can layer a long sleeve shirt underneath.
Modern Skinny Jeans (dark rinse wash) 25P
I have these same jeans in a lighter wash, but this darker wash is a great solid that feels dressier. If you can wear jeans to work, a darker wash always feels more work appropriate.
Floral Blouse XSP
How fun is this little floral blouse? It’s got a contrasting red and white stripe on the bottom of the sleeve that you can’t see because it’s rolled. This makes a great shirt for the office, but is also casual and comfortable enough to wear to the next PTO meeting.
Top XS 40% off
I actually wore this top shopping but it’s so cute I wanted to snap a quick pic! It’s a great casual running around in the top. It’s meant to be on the slouchy, relaxed side so it runs a little big.
Pocket Tee SP ⋅ Boyfriend Jeans 0P
It’s a happy day around here when I find a new T-shirt to love! This one comes in a million colors, even stripes, and is only $25. It’s sheer but not see through and the rounded collar is a great neckline, not too low and not too high.
I’m also smitten with these boyfriend jeans that came home with me. As much as I love my skinnies, a good boyfriend jean is a must have! They are super comfortable and I like that this pair isn’t too baggy, but still shows your shape. I’ve come to know and love this brand and I’m so happy they come in petite, no alterations needed!
Top SP
These tops missed their calling as pajama tops! ? They’re just so soft and cozy. Lots of colors and on sale, only $28! I’m kind of kicking myself that I didn’t bring this home with me, but there are still tons available online, so I probably need to grab one. Or more! before they’re gone!
Sweater XXS
When can we start wearing sweaters again? I’m smitten with this crop style and 3/4 sleeve combo on this one. It also comes in black. Makes me want to run out and get a pumpkin spice latte. Just kidding! I don’t care for those and I feel like I’m the only one this time of year! But gimme a nonfat, light whip white mocha any day!
Sweater XXS
How fun is this Cruella Deville sweater?! It combines my love of black-and-white and stripes! It’s perfectly slouchy, getting all fall cozy over here!
Camisole XS
This silky camisole is a great value, only $35, but feels very luxe on. It’s super cute for date night now, and then worn under a cardigan next month.
Gingham Top 00
I’m taking this fun top to New Orleans this weekend! I’m crazy for the gingham print and embroidered sleeves with tassels. Those details make this top extra special and I know I’ll get tons of wear out of it.
I found this similar style top and both red and black and ended up choosing the red one. These are the tops I always reach for if I want something dressier than a T-shirt but just as comfortable.
Ooh, this was a good, super soft jacket! It’s kind of like a sweater material and zips up with the peplum hem. It’ll dress up your work outfit or you could bring it with you to those chilly movie theaters!
Peplum Tank US2 $28
This peplum tank might be one of my favorites of a whole bunch! It fits like a dream and is on the sexy side without being too revealing! I love the hook and eye closure and the peplum hem that gives you a defined waist line.
But this was cute too! It’s a chic off shoulder black bell sleeve top that I thought would be a great date night option. Problem is that the body felt pretty snug on me and I might want to size up to a small.
Off Shoulder Top XXS ⋅ Pendant Necklace
This top is just as flattering but a little more comfortable. It’s one of those times where I was like how do you put this on?! The sleeves are on the outside of the shirt, but you kind of need to see it in person to understand. Very sassy and comfortable on!
Here for Halftime Sweatshirt (wearing 1, returning for 0)
I saw this sweatshirt on the hanger and had to have it immediately! It says, “here for half time!” At my house football is already on the TV and it will be nonstop once the regular season starts! The only time I like football is when we actually go to a game, but I enjoy getting together for the Super Bowl with friends! But I admit, those lazy Sundays on the couch with munchies are nice!
DRESSES
I have a bunch of adorable dresses to share with you! I’d love to hear which one is your favorite!

Jumpsuit 2P
The first one isn’t actually a dress, rather a jumpsuit, that I came thisclose to bringing home with me. It was just a tad tight across the chest and arms, but otherwise it’s divine! The top has built-in bra cups and it comes with a fancy skinny belt with a jeweled center. Absolutely adorable on and no weird crotch thing happening! You know how those can happen with jumpsuits.
Lace Shift Dress XSP
This lace overlay dress is the prettiest shade of pink and so darling on! I love the pretty feminine detail and think it would look so great at a daytime party.
For a casual soirée, this white cold shoulder dress is very comfy and easy to wear. I can’t believe I forgot what size I tried on! #sorry! I think it was US 2, but maybe US0??
Next up, I tried on several little black dresses for you and they are all amazing, but all a little bit different!
First up is this classy cold shoulder dress with long sleeves. The fit and feel of this dress is amazing and I think it would be really pretty with your hair worn up to show off your neck line. The fabric is stretchy but also firm enough to hold you in. It comes in four colors and the marine blue looks gorgeous and vibrant!
This fit and flair dress fit perfectly in all the right places. The double straps are a cute detail and the fabric felt great on. This felt appropriate for both daytime or evening events.
I’ve tried on a lot of body con dresses over the years, and this lightweight sweater dress definitely ranks as one of my favorites. It’s a soft sweater knit that felt very smooth and comfortable on. This type of dress only needs a necklace and a pair of heels or, in the fall, tights and booties and you’re good to go!
Keyhole Dress 00P
I adored this simple black keyhole dress. It’s classy enough for work and sassy enough for after-work cocktails. If you’ve got great shoulders, and who doesn’t?!, this dress will really show them off!
Ever since trying the one shoulder top this week, I’ve been ready to try it in more styles. I like the pretty print on this dress and the ruffle top. Ruffle tops can be tricky if you have a fuller bust, but this one was flattering!
Oh lord! I hate it when you’re getting dressed and you put the dress on wrong! This is supposed to be a cold shoulder dress and I missed the sleeve! Then it’s so hard to get back out of!
But once I got it on properly, I really liked this dress! The print is nice and subtle and the ruffle detail is feminine and pretty. This kind of dress will transition well from work to weekend also.
Tank Dress SP (need XSP)
Oh how I love a tank dress with a built-in shelf bra and adjustable straps! At $78 though, I thought this simple swing dress was on the pricey side. I’ll be watching for it to go on sale though because I love the print and the material was super soft. It also comes in two other playful prints.
Bring on the tie-dye! This dress is made of soft T-shirt material and feels amazing on! I love the little cold shoulder and bell sleeves. It would look better with a necklace though!
Dress 0
This just makes me want to go on a picturesque picnic in the park eating cheese and crackers and drinking a bottle of rose! I love the neutral style and the basic cut of the dress. I need to size down one to get a better fit though.
Maxi Dress 2P
Petite girls can wear maxi dresses too! I love when they actually come in petite sizes so you don’t have to get them altered! You have to see the back on this one, it has a ruffled peek-a-boo that is super flattering! With this colorful watercolor print, all you need is a nude or black heel and minimal jewelry so the dress shines!
And now we’re off to NOLA, and I can’t wait to share our trip (and where we ate!) with you!
Have a great weekend, friends!
I like almost everything on you, everything seems perfect and I love your sense of style:P
I especially liked the keyhole black dress on you and the cold shoulder dress with ruffles:) You always look so pretty in everything:)
OH! I will be needing that peplum zip up jacket, please & thank you!
I’ve been searching for a great pair of olive-colored pants and I love the ones you tried on. I’m just a tiny bit shorter than you and it is so hard to find pants that fit!
You will absolutely love these, I’m positive!! Let me know! 🙂
Holy smokes this is a lot of great stuff, and of course looks darling on you!!
You are just gorgeous!
So so sweet!! Thank you!!
I’ve noticed you live in those gold flat sandals so far all year – what about all your other summer shoes!
Oh I don’t change shoes for try on sessions, but I do for day to day. My faves are my nude heels, ballet flats, sneakers, and new gladiator-type sandals by Sam Edelman- those are awesome and such great quality!
Everything looks gorgeous on your beautiful body. I especially thought the long sleeved cold shoulder black dress was stunning.
You’re too kind Sue! I loved so many of the dresses in this post too! Hope you have a great weekend!
I just bought the first top from Loft and I was having the hardest time deciding what color pants to wear with it-but olive green is perfect! Glad I found your blog!
Everything looks fabulous on you. Question: have you ever done a post on how you style your hair? It always looks so soft and relaxed.
