How to Wear Your Striped Sheath Dress 5 Ways

Did y’all have a good Valentine’s Day yesterday? I have to brag on my hubby for surprising Jordan with something special for her very first Valentine’s Day.  He bought her a “J” initial necklace from James Avery and I had nothing to do with it! #babysfirstjewelry 😉 And he got her a sweet card too!  I remember my Dad always getting my mom and me a heart-shaped box of candy each year and it’s still a special memory for us both.
For today, I found the most adorable navy and white striped sheath dress that’s a real workhorse in your wardrobe because you can dress is up or down and wear it for so many occasions.  Below I’ll show you how to wear it for work, date night, lunch/dinner or weekend.
FIT:  This dress fits TTS, I’m 5’1, 106 pounds and am wearing XS.  It hits me just below the knee, so if you’re taller, it would be shorter of course.

You may remember in my How to Style Leopard Heels for Date Night & Work post, I showed you a sneak peek of this dress, with a leopard heel to spice it up.  You absolutely can mix stripes with other patterns like leopard or floral (these heels would be darling for Spring).  If you keep your bag and jewelry solid, it helps keep your outfit from looking too confusing.

LOOK #2

If you don’t have leopard heels and want to keep this look on the neutral side, wear it with your nude heels.  Nude heels are a favorite because they create the illusion of a longer leg by not breaking up the leg visually with another color or ankle strap.

I love this particular pair of nude heels because it’s just a classic shape with a narrow high (over 3 inch high) heel and they are comfortable (as far as heels go) for walking in.  And I wanted to show you the scoop and zipper back on the dress.
I can totally see wearing this to church and a nice brunch afterwards or anywhere you want to feel dressed up, and still comfortable. The fabric has a nice bit of stretch in it, so you won’t feel caged in.

LOOK #3

When I worked in an office and needed to look professional fast, I’d always reach for the dark blazer I kept hanging on the back of my office door.  Adding a tailored jacket instantly elevates your outfit to professional work status and makes you look extra smart.

This drape front blazer is the one I bought during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and it sold out quickly, but I just saw that it’s been restocked in petite and plus sizes.  It doesn’t button close, rather just drapes open as the name suggests, so it can easily be dressed down with jeans too.
To make this outfit lean toward the dressy casual size, I rolled the sleeves to 3/4 length. Isn’t the necklace pretty- here’s a new similar statement necklace to mine that came in my Rocksbox (first month free with my code HONEYWEREHOMEXOXO).
I’m so bummed that my clutch sold out, I’m keeping my eye out so I can alert you when it comes back in stock.  It’s an inexpensive dupe for this one.

Here’s a better look at the drapey style of the blazer.  It fits TTS, and I’m wearing size 2.

LOOK #4

For those of you anxiously awaiting the arrival of Spring, after months of cold and snow, I added a pop of bright color to this dress in accessories and shoes and it creates such a cheerful look!

Striped Dress XS | Tassel Earrings | Similar Beaded Necklace | Similar White Bag (Under $20) | Pink Heels

I chose hot pink and aqua to accessorize the dress and I think the combo looks stunning with the navy and white stripes.  The tassel earrings are a fun addition and they aren’t too heavy for a few hours wear.  This pair is shorter if you want them even lighter or not as long.

I love the pop of bright pink in these perforated heels too.  So sassy and fun!  This is the same heel I showed you in tan and black- they come in a million colors (patterns too) and I’m crazy for them!  If you get them/have them, let me know if you like yours as much as I do!

My quilted crossbody bag is from Vera Bradley and often goes in and out of stock, but I found this one similar for under $20!

Hair Update:  Still no more hair color since I went darker originally, aside from getting it blended to look more ‘melted’ in October. I want to see if I can go one whole year (October 2017) without adding color!  I need to because all around my face and head are short hairs that have broken off and need to grow out and be healthy.  I’m loving the low maintenance of this “melted” or “ombre” hair color, but I still miss being light blonde when I see old pictures.  We’ll see if I can make it through the summer without going lighter!
LOOK #5
For the weekend warriors and stat-at-home mamas who want to be comfy and cute, I threw on my sneaks and baseball hat, and wrapped my very favorite jean jacket around my waist and it’s errand time!

Striped Dress XS | Jean Jacket  | Gorjana Necklace | Faux Leather Reversible Tote | Sneakers | (Similar) | Similar White Watch | Similar Pink Bracelets

This ‘get out and go’ look is ultra comfy with sneakers, but you could also wear flats.  With heels, I didn’t mind the dress being below the knee, but here without heels, I wish it was a little shorter to make my short legs look longer.
Some of you have been asking about my skin care routine lately (thank you!) and truth is, I’ve been only using Cetaphil cleanser to wash and Cetaphil moisturizer after.  I sometimes use Sea Breeze, but because sunscreens usually break out my face, I don’t wear it unless I’m at the pool.  Instead, if I’m out in the sun a lot or running, I’ll put on a hat or visor.  I saw this solid canvas baseball cap at Nordstrom recently and it’s really cute! It comes in 5 colors and is under $20!
This Faux Leather Reversible Tote can go everywhere with you.  I’ve had my original tan/aqua one for years and it’s held up so well, with lots of use!  And I saw that the pretty grey/white one is on sale 33% off!
I should’ve put the jean jacket on so you could see how it fits, but if you’re a regular around here, I know you’ve already seen me in it a million times (How to Style Your Jean Jacket for Fall, 3 Casual Valentine’s Day Outfits, for example).
It’s the one I’m always raving about for the soft feel and comfiness factor.  Mine is XS and it’s a slim fit, which I prefer in a jean jacket so it doesn’t add extra bulk.

I hope you enjoyed this post and found some new ways to breathe life into a sheath dress!  Do you have a favorite look?

  1. Love this dress! You are looking amazing! I know you can make it without coloring for a year. I think you actually look younger and brighter with the ombre look and not totally blonde 🙂

    1. Thanks Pam, I'm really liking the darker roots because I hated having dark roots next to blonde in between visits- it drove me crazy! I'm also liking the health of that new, untouched hair.

  2. Love this dress! You've got the willpower to make it a year without coloring back to blonde! I think you actually look younger and your skin looks brighter with the ombre 🙂
