Wear to Work | Pretty Pencil Skirt

Y’all asked for more wear-to-work styles, and I’m happy to oblige! Even though I ‘work’ from home, I remember well those days of getting all ready every morning to go to the office and always looking for work outfit inspiration.  The good news is, lots of work wear transitions well to happy hour or date night, so you can get double bang for your buck out of most of these outfits!
At home, I’m usually in jeans, but for work, I mostly wore skirts and dresses because they felt polished and professional.  Also, unless you get the fit of your pants just right, especially on a petite girl, I felt like I was swimming in them.   A pencil skirt is classic and universally flattering.  It looks like the skirt I’m wearing in these pics sold out already, so I’m linking several similar options below. Kinda dying over this leopard one!

skirt | tunic (similar) both on sale | heels (45% off) | necklace | similar earrings | similar bracelet | watch | bag (similar) | sunglasses (40% off)

Y’all have seen me in this tunic before too (on sale $26.40).  I like to wear it untucked with jeans or leggings.  The one I’m wearing is on the sheer side, but not too bad.  If you feel self conscious, you can wear a cami with it.
This one is nearly identical, but not as sheer-  it’s on sale 33% off, for just $27.90 and comes in 7 colors.  I was talking to my Grandma who lives in California on Monday and even she knows that tunics are a popular style top these days.  She was telling me all about the ones she has and how her favorite person, the Pioneer Woman, also wears them! Hi Grandma!  Thank you so much for reading my blog everyday! You’re gonna love the pics of the kids on Monday!

These tunics are also wonderful, very soft and easy to wear, just size down because they run big.

Isn’t the lace detail on this skirt pretty?! This one, this one, and this one have similar lace on them. My skirt is also Halogen brand and I’m wearing 2P, but I still had to get the waist taken in, but the length was fine as is.Speaking of sizes, I’m so glad yesterday’s post on meals and macros was helpful.  I had the hardest time getting back in shape after I had James (it took a full year to lose the baby weight), but this time it’s been much easier.   I’m sure it’s because: 1) I started out in better shape; 2) I continued working out and eating healthy during pregnancy, and 3) I didn’t gain as much.  If you have a ways to go to get to your goal, just know that one day at a time will add up to big results if you stay consistent.  And please realize, I may look toned in clothes, but my belly still has lots of loose skin and definitely isn’t what it used to be.  Over time, it got tighter with training and I know I still need to do those diastasis recti exercises, but I’ve been slacking.

Okay, enough fitness talk, I could go on forever, but let’s get back to the fashion post at hand!

If your office is even dressier or you get cold inside, you can add a blazer (similar) over the top.  My office was usually freezing so I always kept a couple cardigans hanging on my office door.
Did you notice the Nordstrom website was updated?  I like it!  There’s new fonts and the pictures are so nice and big and clear!  No wonder it’s where I shop online most! What do you think?

  1. Hi, I have a fitness question. When you calculate your daily calorie goal as 1400, do you account for calories burned while exercising or do you eat 1400 calories regardless? Thanks!
