Weekend Recap & $12 DIY Painted Globe

Weekend Recap & $12 DIY Painted Globe

Three cheers for the long weekend and short week!  I hope you had/have a good one!  It helped us transition into the summer vacation that I swear snuck right up on us.  But, we were lucky to have a few really nice, sunshiny days this weekend to go to the pool, which made it start to feel like summer. Mama even got herself a pina colada. #whoa! And Jordan dipped her itty bitty toes into the water for the first time.  I just died over her in this swimsuit and hat!  Too cute!!!  I’m paranoid she’ll get too much sun on her delicate newborn skin,

Thank you guys so much for sharing how you relate to my last post on parent appreciation.  I always get nervous before hitting publish on those kinds of honest posts, but my goal this year has been to not let fear stop me from sharing the way I really feel or how things actually are.  When you guys end up giving such support or helpful tips that we can use in our house, it confirms that pushing past my fears is always the right choice.

It’s been nuts over here wrapping up the last week of school.

Parent Appreciation

Parent Appreciation

Is your week going well?  I had to take a breather earlier this week since Sunday we hosted my sis-n-law’s baby shower here and those parties are so fun, but also take a lot of time and energy.  We are so excited to welcome another baby into our family, I can’t wait!! I was up late on Sunday night cleaning and getting the house put back together so I could start the week fresh. So, house is all clean, the laundry finally got folded and put away and now we can focus on this, the last week of school!

I’m celebrating making it to Friday and surviving such a busy week!  I got to go with James on his school field trip on Tuesday and was actually surprised, but also very happy to hear he wanted to me go with him.  He’s been so into Dad lately, but I guess he’s not too big for mama yet!  He seems like such a big kid now, but then he’ll say something so innocent and sweet that I realize he’s still such a little guy too.  I don’t know how those kindergartener teachers do it all year long, handling so many kids!

How to Curl Your Hair for Loose Waves

How to Curl Your Hair for Loose Waves

I am so happy to finally have my hair curling tutorial ready for you today!  Y’all are so sweet and know how to make a girl feel good about her hair and this is one of the biggest requests I get- to show you how I do mine.  All you need is a 1-1/2 inch curling wand to achieve loose, wavy curls and I’ll show you how to use it with a step-by-step pictorial below.

But first, let’s start with the hair products. I sometimes switch up shampoos, but I really like Biolage Color Last since I get highlights and low-lights every 6 weeks  (#highmaintence)  and it smells great.

On My Master List

On My Master List

Now that the One Room Challenge is over and my office is all mine and ready to be worked in, all those little tidbits and to-do’s that have been swimming around in my brain for the last month can finally be tended to.  Everything was on the back burner while that room was being finished and my brain felt like it was going to explode with the mental list that was piling up.  Whenever I feel that happening, I know it’s time to pull out my MASTER LIST and get it updated.  I always feel so much better after a good brain dump!

Body After Baby | 12 Week Progress Report

Body After Baby | 12 Week Progress Report

Hello lovelies!  Did you have a great weekend?!  Ours involved the last T-ball game of the season, a new two-wheel bike for our son who’s learning to ride without training wheels, and me trying to take a nap every time Jordan did.  After almost three months of middle of the night feedings, the lack of uninterrupted sleep is catching up to me big time.  I feel like I’m going through the motions during the day, but my mind and body are exhausted.  The good news is that yesterday, she woke up at 7am to eat, then fell back to sleep until 11:30 a.m.

It’s feeling really good to reach the end of this week with such a big accomplishment behind me!  The fact that my office makeover was finished in time for the final reveal of the One Room Challenge on Wednesday was no small feat.  I love how it turned out and am so happy to have it all complete!  It’s a major relief!  Thank you so very much for sharing the love with me.  When you dedicate so much time and energy to a project, it means so much to get such positive feedback.

So, on to this week’s Weekend Steals &

My Home Office

My Home Office

Today is kinda like the grown-up equivalent of Christmas morning, with the excitement level off the charts because I finally get to share with y’all my home office makeover reveal!  As I sit in my new office chair drafting this post, it’s all I can do to stay focused, because I’m still soaking in all the goodness in this gorgeous room!  I’m beyond thrilled with how it turned out and the sophisticated and feminine feel I was originally after was certainly achieved. I couldn’t have done it without my talented friend and designer Sita Montgomery.  She’s been a true friend and fantastic sounding board and I’m proud to have collaborated with her on this room.

How I Taught My Kindergartener to Get Himself …

How I Taught My Kindergartener to Get Himself Ready for School (on time without nagging)

If your house is anything like ours, mornings are hectic as we prepare for the day and try to get our son off to school on time.  Before our daughter was born, I wanted to make him responsible for getting himself ready for school in the mornings so I didn’t have to be all, “eat breakfast . . . get your shoes on . . . have you brushed your teeth yet? . . .  HURRY UP!!!!” everyday.  That hurry-up and yell routine stressed us both out and certainly wasn’t the best way to start the day.

If you need me this weekend, I’ll be knee deep in trying to get my home office presentable for her big girl portraits on Monday morning!  Eeek!  The One Room Challenge ends next Wednesday and I’ve been running around like a crazy person this week pulling decor items from several stores and thinking in the back of my mind, “I can always return this if it doesn’t work out”, but better to buy and have options than not have what you need.  Which has let me to a long list of returns to complete next week!

And my contributor post for I Heart Organizing is also due on Monday and I still need to photograph and put that together.

One Room Challenge | Week #5

One Room Challenge | Week #5

Well, it’s really down to the wire now, seeing how this is our last week to work on getting my home office ready for the big reveal next week!  We’re on Week #5 of 6 of the One Room Challenge where my home office is making its transformation from this to the sneak peeks you see here today. Thankfully, almost everything is falling into place!  And I do have some very cool pieces of the puzzle I can’t wait to share with you today, but I don’t want to give it all away.  Hopefully, y’all will come back next week to see the entire room in all her glory!

Happy weekend, friends!! I’m looking at the calendar realizing that we’re almost at May and that means there’s only 1 month of school left!  How in the world did we get to the end of the school year so soon?!?!  This is a big one with kindergarten graduation coming up.  I actually just got choked up even typing those words.   At 6 years old, the person that was once my little baby, is now a full-fledged, independent boy with a mind and personality all his own.  Before I take a big turn down sappy lane, let’s switch gears and get to the fashion!

Back in the day, when I had time to spare and shopping was a fun thing I loved to do with my girlfriends on a weekend afternoon, one of the best parts of spending the day together was the immediate sharing of new finds with each other.  “Oooh, look at this!”  “Isn’t this adorable?!”  “You could totally wear that with jeans or dress it up for work.”  Now that my shopping is primarily done on my computer in the comfort of my own home, by myself, I’ve found that sharing my fashion finds with you is the next best thing!

This & That

This & That

Hi guys!  I hope y’all had a great weekend!  It feels like ours was jam packed, and on this Monday morning, I’m wishing I had just one.more.day of weekend left.  The garbage disposal broke and suddenly I realize just how much I rely on modern conveniences.  Not a big deal, but enough of a hassle because without the disposal, the sink isn’t draining very well.  One more thing to deal with today.  We had our son’s school fundraising Gala on Saturday night (wore this romper with these shoes) and came thisclose to bringing home an 11-week old black labrador puppy,
