Unique Mother’s Day Gifts

Unique Mother’s Day Gifts

Thanks so much for weighing in yesterday on the “to paint or not to paint” the office doors dilemma. I’m still unsure, but will wait until almost everything else is in place to make the final decision.  Once the art is on the wall and the drapes are hung, I think it will be easier to decide.

I’m so ready for the weekend and it’s only Thursday! 🙁  These days are kicking my butt lately!  And then next weekend is already Mother’s Day!  I keep reminding my husband that I’m sustaining life for two people!!! right now.

One Room Challenge Week #4 – Painted Trim Farrow & Ball’s Lichen

You guys!!  After last week’s One Room Challenge office update went live several of you let me know I had the bench legs on wrong!  Thank you! One sweet reader, Beth, emailed me privately so as not to embarrass me!  Isn’t that nice?!  But, it’s okay!  I remember thinking when I put the legs on, ‘this looks funky, I need to check to see how they go’, but then forgot! Oh well, easy fix, another turn and the legs are all good!

And we have the pillow covers from Arianna Belle just waiting on their 20×20 down-filled inserts to give these babies a place to call home!

Sunday Night Planning for a Productive Week

Sunday Night Planning for a Productive Week

I realized I’ve been asking myself a lot lately, “What’s the most important thing?” And I don’t mean in a “let’s ponder the meaning of life” kind of way.  Of course, our health, spiritual walk, relationships and children all top the list of those most important things in our lives.  What I’m talking about is more practical: What’s the most important thing that needs to get done today? Because that one thing is all I might have time for now that we have a two-month old in the house.

All moms (and especially new moms) understand the struggle to try to accomplish anything when you have a baby (or more) at home.

Rompers | Night & Day

Rompers | Night & Day

Rompers are so dang cute this time of year, if you can just get past that whole, having to strip down to go to the bathroom thing.  I say it’s worth it!  Today, I’ve got two adorable rompers to share with you- one for day and one you can dress up for night.  I’m also highlighting a couple style, hair and makeup tips!

day

I’m absolutely smitten with this soft, casual striped romper for day.  It’s short, short, but the high neckline balances it out and the material is really light and comfortable. It comes in 4 colors,

Man, I feel like we’re gonna float away here lately.  You may have heard that Houston has been deluged with rainstorms and they are only now starting to let up. School for our son was cancelled two days and out where my mom lives, they had no school all week.  The water came up over the curb of her house and into the front yard, but didn’t get into her house.  She hasn’t been able to come over all week since the roads between her house and mine are still bad.  Thankfully, we’ve all stayed safe and I so appreciate your well-wishes!

One Room Challenge Week #3 – Rug, Etageres, & Bench in Place

Hi friends!  How are we already halfway through the One Room Challenge?!?!  In blog time, that means there’s actually less than three weeks to finish, because the photographing, editing and blog post writing needs to be completed in time for the final reveal on May 11!  I’m kinda freaking out over here because we still have so much to accomplish to get this room done in time.  What I’m showing you today is as far as we’ve gotten and so many pieces are still yet to arrive!  I’ve been juggling out of stock orders and pieces that didn’t end up working or that couldn’t make it in time.

The Ray-Ban Sunglasses Fit Trick

The Ray-Ban Sunglasses Fit Trick

Our city has been deluged by powerful rainstorms lately, buckets and buckets full, taking us all back to Tropical Storm Allison (my car flooded) or Hurricane Ike (left without power for 11 days), which has our city practically on lockdown with no school or work for the majority of us.  Yesterday, we had a pajama day until about 3pm, when my lazy couch potato status turned into that itchy “need to accomplish” something mode.  I actually put Jordan down in.her.crib for a nap (instead of her usual resting place, my lap) and lo and behold and she slept!  She slept on a real mattress.

Weekend Steals & Deals | Girlfriend Time & Outfits Lately

Man, is it Friday already?!  This time last week, I was heading to Dallas to spend the day with my friends and was worrying if it was too soon to leave Jordan.  She’ll be two months old already on Monday!  It goes so fast, yet she’s still such a little baby.  It might sound bad, but honestly, I felt comfortable heading out for the day, knowing that she was in good hands with my mom while my husband worked and then Grandma planned to stay until I got home.  Maybe because she’s my second or maybe because I was really craving some girl time,

In the unfortunate event that someone held a gun to my head and gave me the choice of giving them either 1) all my shoes OR 2) all of my handbags,

One Room Challenge Week #2 – Sophisticated & Feminine Office Design

One Room Challenge Week #2 – Sophisticated & Feminine Office Design

Welcome back to Week #2 of the One Room Challenge!  It’s an exciting day where I get to reveal the design plan and mood board for my home office, walk you through the design, and I’ll also share the sources I plan on using in the room!  Lots to discuss decor-lovers, let’s get to it!!

As I mentioned last week, I was ready to ditch the bold black, white and pink office in favor of a space that was more soothing and calm.  I think the office previously had a high energy vibe with lots of bright colors, but I’m drawn to softer spaces lately.

Style Guide – Jeans & Jean Shorts Outfits

Style Guide – Jeans & Jean Shorts Outfits

If you’re like me, you live in jeans pretty often and jean shorts in the summer.  Today, I’m highlighting a couple favorite jean shorts looks that you can wear all Spring and Summer, one dressed up look (with a heel!) and the others more casual.

And, I also wanted to share a great, relaxed, but still stylish outfit that you can wear anytime you want to look good and feel confident.  I found another way to style your tie neck top that I originally paired with this skirt.  See the whole look here.

Our Experience with Blue Apron

Our Experience with Blue Apron

We knew it couldn’t last forever and that all good things must come to an end.  That doesn’t mean it wasn’t hard to say goodbye.  We received the very.last.meal from the meal train that our wonderful friends set up for us last week.  #waaaaahhhhh!!!! Such a sad day!  Suddenly we are faced with having to plan, shop, and prepare our own meals again.  We got so spoiled by having these meals delivered, piping hot and freshly prepared, right to our front door.  But now it’s time to fend for ourselves again.  Life is hard, right?!  Well, it kinda is with a newborn!

I’m Hi guys!  It’s a late night here getting this post up and out before I head to Dallas for a few hours tomorrow to see my girlfriends at a blogger style conference.  I wasn’t originally planning on going since Jordan is only so little still.  I figured it was out of the question.  But, the more I thought about it, I figured I could make it work by just going for the day since it’s so close.  I really didn’t want to miss the opportunity to see my friends that live in different states when they’d be practically in my backyard!

One Room Challenge Week 1 – My Home Office Makeover Begins

Hello!!  It’s the day I’ve been anxiously waiting for!  I finally get to announce that we’ll be redecorating my home office for this Spring’s One Room Challenge!  If you’re new to Honey We’re Home, thanks so much for stopping by!  I’m Megan, a possibly crazy woman that wanted to take on this challenge even though I just had a baby!  Our 7-week old Jordan is the sweetest thing.  She’s keeping me busy with those round-the-clock feedings, but I didn’t want to turn down the opportunity to redecorate this room, especially after last time!

Last Fall I was honored to participate in the ORC and it was a terrific experience.

Spring Dressing Boho Style

Spring Dressing Boho Style

I’ve got two super cute boho inspired outfits to share with you today!  I usually do Wardrobe Wednesday, but since the One Room Challenge starts tomorrow, I’m bumping it up to Tuesdays for awhile.  This Spring/Summer bohemian style is casual and cool and so easy to wear.  The first outfit was originally meant for Easter, but I certainly plan to wear it beyond! and the other is a great date night look.  Let’s check them out!

I first saw this dress online when looking for a simple dress that wouldn’t be too body-conscious.  No one wants to look like they’re going to the club for church on Easter!

A Day in the Life

A Day in the Life

Waking up this Monday morning feeling like it was Friday only yesterday!  Can you relate?! Weekends are pretty busy with trying to fit in all the things we didn’t get to during the week, and adding in a birthday party and sports game to the mix.  No rest for the weary and today I’m sharing what life has been like since Jordan’s been born.

We’ve definitely had to adjust our routine to accommodate the stress delight of having two kids, but of course it’s so worth it.  We got real comfortable with just one 6-year old who’s pretty self-sufficient and having a newborn hit pretty hard.

Let’s hear it for Friday!!  Man, this week has kicked my butt!  Did you hear my news yesterday?!  I’ve been super busy trying to pull this design together and actually got my first piece of decor yesterday! It’s making me so excited to share with you which room Sita and I are decorating!  I can finally share that on Wednesday.  Hope you come back to hear!

I’m so very thankful that baby Jordan is cooperating and I have my mom’s help during the day. #ittakesavillage  I always love reading those “day in the life posts”
