Weekend Steals & Deals | In My Closet

Happy Good Friday cuties!  I’m wishing you a fabulous weekend with your family and friends.  We’ll be home today decorating eggs (finally!) with our little cousins.  We’re gonna try the shaving cream colored eggs and hopefully it’s not a Pinterest fail! For Easter, it’ll be church and then to Mom’s house for dinner.  Gotta keep things simple these days.  What are you up to this weekend?
weekend steals & deals

If you’re doing some shopping this weekend, and you’re a Nordstrom cardholder, definitely take advantage of the Triple Points that end tomorrow!  You’ll see a few things I bought at the end of this post and I’d love your opinion on the jumpsuit
Sun & Shadow tunic tank $38, $22.80 (also in “rust marsala”)
How sweet is the detail on the front of this tank and the length is nice and long, but you have to see the cute cut-out on the back!

1.STATE tank $59, $41.30
How fun is this split back top?! It would look great with white jeans too.  It comes in long sleeve too, which looks like it would hide a bra strap better.
Caslon shark bite tunic (also in red, black or cream) $48, $28.80
pleated tank (also in purple, white or red) $34, $20.40
Halogen Roll Sleeve top (regular & petite) $68, $40.80
This top goes great with pants for work or jeans for weekend.  You can also tie the bottom for a different look.

My lightweight striped tunic has been marked down to under $20 now!  If you’re still in leggings, this top will cover your booty! Get it while they still have most sizes!  Size Regular Small pictured.

Similar jeans:  BLANKNYC ‘good vibes’ distressed skinny jeans ($88).  I have them and they are nice and soft, but I’d order a size down.  I felt that they ran a little big.
Or try the Vigoss ‘Chelsea’ super skinny jeans– they are good quality and on sale 40% off! The lighter wash feels like Spring is on the horizon! I have this pair by Vigoss and have gotten so much use out of them.  They have a good amount of stretch, but not too much, and not too much distressing, if that’s not your thing.  They are also on sale 40% off!
My mother-of-pearl pendant necklace turned around in these pics 🙁 but this necklace is super cute and a great, inexpensive alternative ($18) to the Kendra Scott Rayne pendant necklace ($80).  The lesser-priced one isn’t as weighty, but it still looks cute.  I have both, so clearly, I don’t discriminate.
in my closet
Step inside my closet, friends, and I’ll show you some recent online purchases. I used to only show the keepers, but I think it’s more helpful to show everything, even the ones that didn’t work out, so you can get an idea of fit and quality and maybe see what not to buy.  Of course, what doesn’t look good on me might look way better on you! Keep in mind I’m about 5 feet tall and currently weigh 119 pounds. #babyweight

Please excuse the second-day hair and the lack of makeup, but I did put on lipstick for you!  Like any good girlfriend, I love to share my outfits and get your feedback too.  You can leave any questions/comments in the comments section at the bottom of the post and I’ll write you back!

Vince Camuto Faux Wrap Jumpsuit – I loved this shorts jumpsuit I showed you last week so much that it got me ready to try out a pants jumpsuit.  I browsed through so many online, but only purchased this one that got so many great reviews and was a decent price at $98.
Man, this would be so, so awesome and a perfect night out look if it fit me!  It’s way too long (I’m about 5’0 and standing on my tippie toes here). Such a bummer because it’s really comfy, good material and the deep-v neckline is sexy! I love how it nips in at the waist and has a loose pant leg. Being so petite, I may need to look for a more-petite friendly style.  You taller girls will definitely rock this!  But, the more I look at it, I’m considering taking it to Nordstrom and seeing if they can alter it to fit me better.  Should I try to alter it?

#2
ASTR crochet inset dress – I really wanted to love this dress since it looked easy to wear and I liked the cut at the shoulders which really shows them off, especially if you wear your hair up. The dress is lined, and the crochet detail is pretty.
On me, the darts at the top aren’t hitting quite right (probably because I have enormous breast-feeding boobs right now). I think it would be super cute and more flattering on those less endowed.

I didn’t ask James to put my hair up here, but it does show the shoulder-baring part I mentioned above.  He just loves to mess up my hair.  He thinks it’s hilarious!

Even though the dress didn’t work for me, I am crazy about these lace heels!  I’ve got light blue pale nails and they look great with these shoes.

Finally, the dress that never disappoints.  It’s like that trusty friend you can go back to time and time again and always leave feeling better!  I have this dress in blue, and finally added a second color to my collection.  At under $50, you can’t beat it.  #oneineverycolorplease!

  1. I also bought the Vince Camuto jumpsuit and am on the fence about it. I'm 5'7" so the length isn't a deal breaker. Just not sure it looks great on me. However, it is sooooo comfortable. Leaning toward keeping it!

    1. You are in agreement with my friends on Instagram, I don't think one person said to just return it! I'll have to take it to the alterers and see what they can do!

  2. Megan,
I really like the jumpsuit and think it is worth altering. It's stunning on you! I also really like the fuchsia dress on you. Great photos of you and James bonding together. It's awesome that you included him. ???

    1. Thanks so much Jess! I thought it was good to let y'all see how it really goes at our house! LIttle boy always playing in my closet and I'm all- "there's nothing in here for you!" Ha!

  3. The jumpsuit looks great on you!! Nordstrom has free alterations.

Moving forward, you probably really need to stay with petites; the proportions seem to be really off with the regular sizes because they're made for taller women. I have friends who are shorter and the two things they need to stick with are petites and to get a good tailor. It seems like when a person is under 5 feet 2 inches tall, just about everything needs to be altered somewhat. The number one rule in fashion is fit. Everything needs to fit. It doesn't matter how cute something is, if the fit isn't right, you really shouldn't buy it. Every Woman has some fit issues, the key is learning to buy what works best for our figures and getting a tailor when necessary. My short friends always have to have virtually every pair of their jeans and pants altered when they are under 5 feet 2 inches. Happy Easter!

    1. I'm so happy to see many things come in petite versions these days. My problem with petites can be that I seem to fit regular sizes up top. Petite bottoms all the way those. Loft was one of my go-to's for petite slacks for work. I need to go back and check them out again since I haven't been in a long time. Hope you have a great weekend!

    2. You too! I have the opposite problem since I always need more length in my pants/jeans. I always loved the styles/prints in petites When shopping with my friends but I was always way too tall for them and I'm only 5'8". I always felt like a lot of the stuff was a lot cuter in the petite version than the regular sizes. It seems like everyone has fit problems no matter who you are, lol.

  4. Loving the jumpsuit! I have a similar one from BR in petite but the neckline is very high (it was around in Dec). I love how sassy it is!

Do the BCBG tan suede heels feel as tall as they say? I've been looking for a professional work environment pair that I could wear to work in the summer but the 4 in heel is high! I'm not loving the chunky 2 inch versions I've seen (for the office). XO, Amanda @ life on linton

    1. These heels are good! I don't feel like they're too tall at all, but I'm also comfortable in heels. The chunky heel makes them very easy to wear. These have already become a favorite of mine! They are cute with jeans too.
