Weekend Steals & Deals | New Year Sales & Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale
Well, happy new year to you! Did you get all crazy and ring in the new year with champagne and parties or did you end up with boxes of Italian takeout and pjs at home like us?! Too bad my party dress didn’t make it out this time, but I’ll still cherish those sequined baby bump pics and the fun time I had with my Mom taking them. Let’s just say blowing glitter and wearing a cheesy NYE hat when you’re 30 weeks pregnant makes for some hearty laughs. And our son had fun with those props too!
I’m loving hearing you all weigh in on the “Tips for Leaving Schlumpadinkaville” post. I know we can relate to each other and one more thing I wanted to add in (especially since I know those challenging baby days are ahead for me) is to not be too hard on yourself. If you have young kids pulling you in all directions, I’m sure it’s hard to just get a shower alone sometimes! I remember going back to work and trying to get ready with a newborn to take to daycare (I was the drop off and pick up parent) and how I felt like I wasn’t doing a good job at all at juggling baby and career, let alone trying to get to the gym. If that’s you or you’re struggling in other areas, be kind to yourself and do what you can with what you have. For the rest of us that just need a friendly kick in the pants, I’m happy to oblige! 😉
Now, let’s shop! We’re all stoked over here because we can officially say, “baby, it’s cold outside!” We’re finally pulling out the sweaters and boots and scarves and bundling up. Perfect timing since Nordstrom’s Half Yearly Sale with up to 50% on women, men, and kids is in full effect until Sunday!
I warn you this post is long- I just didn’t want to leave anything out! And I didn’t even really get to the sale handbags, jewelry, or watches!
One of my favorite sweaters this season (I like it so much I bought this one and the gold “brown sienna”), is under $30 now. I love the grey especially with white jeans.

This sweater with contrasting cuffs is also marked down and comes in several colors/patterns. The pink and grey was my next favorite.

I tried on this cardigan at Nordstrom, but left it behind. It was super cozy and warm, but I can’t buy everything I like or I’d be in the poor house! This one reminded me affectionately of a “grandpa sweater”.

And when faced with deciding between this black faux fur vest and the tan one, I choose the tan, tbut this black one was hard to leave behind. Scoop it up now before it sells out! Size ref: 2.
All of the sweaters below would happily join my wardrobe if I could buy them all. One of each, please! And at under $50, they’re all great deals. The first one is another pattern in that contrast cuff I’m wearing in grey/yellow.
I haven’t featured pants lately, but I saw these cords and colored jeans and know they are a good alternative to regular jeans, especially in the winter. They are all on sale and come in different colors and styles. They go perfectly with sweaters or layered with collared shirts underneath (as pictured below). Bonus is that they’re work appropriate if your office leans on the casual side.

Many of you asked about the heels I wore with my Free People shirtdress, and at the time, I couldn’t find the exact pair, but I found them now in tan and black. They are really comfy with that chunkier heel.

My favorite ASICS sneakers and Zella socks are also on sale. Isn’t it great to put on a fresh pair of running shoes to get you motivated to workout? I am a ‘good workout clothes convert’ where years ago I would never spend money on them. I always bought cheap workout clothes that didn’t last, but once you wear good quality, you won’t go back to poor quality fabric and fit.
