Yay!  We’ve made it to Friday!  The weeks are dragging on and on over here, but each Monday marks another week of our pregnancy and we’ll be at 35 weeks on Monday!  I’ve been wanting to do a big maternity style round-up post (you can check out the Mix & Match Maternity wardrobe post here), so I’ve been taking quick OOTD snaps on the days I manage to make it out of my soft pants (non-maternity), which I happen to be wearing right now as I type this post.

Here we are at just six weeks to go until this baby girl is due to arrive!  How in the world did we get to 34 weeks so fast when my first pregnancy felt like it lasted two years?!?!  I guess that’s the thing with your second pregnancy, you’re so busy and occupied with your first that time seems to fly by. Until it doesn’t.

Weekend Steals & Deals | Winter Outfit Inspiration & Valentine’s Day Tops

We’re waking up to much colder temps here in Texas, and I’m hearing about the blizzard coming to the East Coast today.  I hope y’all stay safe and warm and don’t lose power! We’ve been through that for Hurricane Ike and lost power for 11 days – no fun!! For our weekend, we’ve got the usual kid sporting events (these kindergarteners playing basketball are so cute!) and a birthday party.  Then, I want to get some planning done on our baby girl’s bathroom.   The shower curtain I ordered from Target arrived and I like it! I just have to figure out how to make it work with the dark counters!

Well, if we didn’t look up from Christmas and the start of the new year and Valentine’s Day is in less than a month!  Nordstrom asked me to curate some gift options from their store and of course I’m happy to do so since I shop there so regularly anyway!  I found girlie things FOR HER (lots under $50) and manly things FOR HIM too!

My friends and family truly spoiled us this weekend with the sweetest baby sprinkle (no registry, just diapers and girlie things since this is our second), and I’m all choked up over the adorable, tiny baby girl things we brought home.  You could tell everyone choose everything with love and we really felt it.  I’ll do a recap post of the party as soon as I get my pictures in order, I’d love to get to share it with you since you couldn’t be there in person.  

It’s funny how with your second you don’t buy nearly as much, partly because you still have things you can use and also because you know that you don’t really need that much anyway.

I really feel like I need to do a bump update soon because this pregnancy has gone from “I feel great!” to “I’m getting so uncomfortable!”  I know this was to be expected near the end when the baby is getting bigger and I’m thankful we’ve only got about 7 weeks to go.  Tomorrow is her “Sprinkle” and I’m excited to celebrate her with my family and girlfriends.  I’ve literally only bought a handful of things this pregnancy (so different from our first!), so it will be very sweet to receive some baby girl outfits and diapers!

How to Build a No Sew Bench Seat

Ever since we showed our soon-to-be baby-girl’s nursery, a frequent question has been about the bench seat.  It was an easy and inexpensive DIY project, and the bench seat definitely adds to the charm of built-in bookcase.  I really wanted the seat to be functional and not just a pretty spot to look at.  We only have 2 months until she is here and I envision my 5-year old sitting on this bench seat while we’re in here together and also her when she gets older.

Home Styling Tips | The Kitchen Edition

Well, we weren’t the big lottery winners on Saturday night, but we did decide that IF we won, I would keep blogging (goes to show that I genuinely love it!) but we would definitely be taking vacations and traveling more.  I think we only went out of town once last year for Spring Break.  Did you play?  I can’t believe no one won!

I posted a picture on my Instagram over the weekend of a small spot in our kitchen, and a Jennifer and Cindy commented that they’d like to see a kitchen styling post.  I’m all for that since I’m always arranging and rearranging things.

How has this first week after the Christmas holiday been for you?  Not gonna lie, getting back into the groove again has been kinda tough, but also nice to get up and get going in our days again. Having the house all nice and clean and organized has been a huge help in starting this year off right.

Raise your hand if one of your favorite parts of a new year is a new planner, organizer or calendar!  If you could see me now, I’d be the nerdy kid in the front row of the class with both hands raised! 😉 I have not one, but two planners already chosen for this year and I’m already getting started breaking one in.  

As much as I live by the calendar on my iPhone for family, school and kid appointment/reminders , I still like writing in an old fashioned pretty paper planner for organizing blog and other personal stuff. I recently also got carried away with buying stickers for my planners and found the cutest ones on Etsy here,

Along with getting organized, getting healthy and fit probably tops most of our lists in terms of things we’d like to accomplish or make improvements to in the new year.  This year, I competed in my second bikini contest and, although I also blog about home and fashion, my fitness posts were the most popular. That really surprised me- I didn’t realize how often those posts had been read until I looked back at the end of the year.  Chronicling my fitness journey here helped keep me accountable and, hopefully, also showed you what kind of results are achievable in just 12 weeks with a specific meal and exercise plan.

Now that we’re in the new year, how many of you spent the weekend cleaning up the mess from Christmas and trying to get your house back in order?  If I didn’t see it with my own eyes, I never would have believed it, but while I was dismantling all the Christmas decor and trying to fit it back into the bins (how did it multiply?!?!), my husband got working on organizing the toys and playroom. Well, happy new year to you!  Did you get all crazy and ring in the new year with champagne and parties or did you end up with boxes of Italian takeout and pjs at home like us?!  Too bad my party dress didn’t make it out this time, but I’ll still cherish those sequined baby bump pics and the fun time I had with my Mom taking them.  Let’s just say blowing glitter and wearing a cheesy NYE hat when you’re 30 weeks pregnant makes for some hearty laughs.  And our son had fun with those props too!
