It’s that time of year again, where we get to look back at where we’ve been this year and look forward to where we’re heading in the future.  These times of reflection are one of the best parts of having a blog because it allows a record of what’s happened over the years.  The older I get, the more thankful I am that I have this digital memory keeper!

Thank you so much for letting me share our heart and home with you.  This year was full of the highest high (you may have heard we’re having a baby! and we couldn’t be more overjoyed), and the saddest lows (we lost our beloved Dad after a courageous fight with cancer).  He is still greatly missed, but we’re lucky to have a tight family to lean on in the tough times.  Through it all, your support, encouragement and engagement has made these 6 years of blogging feel fulfilling and worthwhile.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Today, I’m sharing the progress we’ve made at our home and some of my most popular home decor posts of 2015.  Our home has been evolving over the last 6 years and we are really comfortable with where things are now, which is not to say that there aren’t still things I’d like to change or update.
For 2016, we’re working on: 1) transitioning our playroom into a playroom/media room so that the adults and (soon to be) children can both enjoy the space; 2) our son has moved into the former guest room and we need to make it a true young boy’s bedroom; 3) my office needs some updating since I recently moved the Expedit bookshelf into the playroom and I’m ready for a refresh in that space since I spend so much time in there; and finally, 4) I’d love to update our downstairs half-bath.  It’s fine and functional as-is, but it could definitely use a dose of personality.  I’ve been wanting to wallpaper it forever!
You can see the before and afters from when we first moved in in 2010 to the updated 2014 decor here and my full HOME TOUR here.
For 2015, we decorated our Living Room for Spring and fixed our smashed Pottery Barn Pearce sectional cushions.  It made a big difference and the couch is still going strong.  If you’re considering a new couch, we’ve had our sectional for about six years and you can read my honest review here.

The stairway was updated with the addition of a large pedestal table that finally completed that potentially awkward spot under the stairs.  That area sat empty for so long and I’m glad we waited to find the perfect piece that we’d really like as opposed to just a space-filler.
After choosing a new hue for the dining room in 2014, we decked it out for Spring with colorful table accents and white carnations.

Come summertime, we added some easy Summer decor in our Master Sitting Room.

And changed the dining room up for Fall too.  I enjoy decorating for the seasons, but I realize more and more that it simple works best around here.
After searching forever (and finding 24 great neutral rug options in the process) for a rug to add to our Master Bedroom, we achieved the feel we were after and now have a calming, neutral Master Bedroom.

In my boutique master closet, I added flair with DIY Thibaut Tanzania Wallpaper that I actually painted using torn up sponges.

Our almost 6-year old son has lived in this home since he was just four months old.  His nursery was turned into a Colorful Big Boy Room that he really enjoyed, but this summer he moved to the guest room so that his room could become the baby girl’s nursery.  It’s the room closest to our bedroom, so this move made the most sense for us.  Don’t feel sorry for him for getting booted, we had a king bed in the guest room that he’s luckily inherited.

That baby girl I mentioned is going to have one of the sweetest nurseries in town.  I want it for my room!  I’m so thankful to Sita Montgomery for helping with the majority of the design decisions and I made a good friend in the process.  We worked on this nursery for the 6-week One Room Challenge and it was not easy to complete in that timeframe, especially given that we added the built-in bookshelves and bench seat.  You have to see the gorgeous lucite and gold hardware that was installed after the fact!

HWH Loves Bloggers

This year, I wanted to connect with and promote other bloggers and instagrammers more because at the heart of blogging is sharing and crediting back those whose original content is so creative and inspiring.  I started the HWH LOVES BLOGGERS series as a way to spread the love.  Each week, we focused on a different room of the house and you could tag your picture on instagram #HWHLovesBloggers for a chance to be featured.
You can get caught up on the series below if you missed it.  I promise you’ll be inspired and might even get turned on to some new blogs. I hope so!

Nurseries
It’s so funny to look back now and realized I published this nursery post on July 2 and was actually pregnant at the time and didn’t know it!

I plan to pick this series back up this month and I’ll be looking to feature your home offices.  Follow my instagram @honeywerehome for the announcement.  I’ve met some great people through this series and they all said that the feature brought them lots of new visitors, which is so good to hear.
I know my own blog has grown through the kindness of being featured on other blogs, brands and instagram accounts and I appreciate each and every share.  If you are interested in creating a blog, you can read how to get started here
