Wardrobe Wednesday | NY BHG Stylemaker Celebration

Why does it always feel so stressful right before going out of town?! Even when it’s a trip you’ve been looking forward to and are excited about, it just seems like there’s always a mad rush to get everything that needs to be done completed before you can go.  At least that’s how it usually is over here.
I’m heading to NY with 70 of my blogger friends for the Better Homes and Gardens Stylemaker Celebration.  It’s my first year going, so I’m not really too sure what to expect, but I’ve heard it’s a lot of fun and Brooke Shields is the featured celebrity guest.  I still remember her best for her Jordache ads. 😉 Mostly, I’m looking forward to hanging out with friends in person as opposed to over the computer screen.   So much better!
It’s going to be a quick trip, just Wednesday to Friday, so we’ll have to pack a lot into a little bit of time.  I’m taking an early flight so I arrive Wednesday afternoon with time for sightseeing before meeting up with some friends for dinner.

On Thursday, our event goes from morning to night without time to change, so I’m going to wear this dress that I showed you in last week’s Weekend Steals & Deals.  It’s a comfy material, forgiving in all the right places, and I’m crazy over the Fall plum color.

Fall fashion - plum dress

These heels go with everything and I’ve been wearing them a ton.
But, practically speaking, as comfortable as I am in heels, I’m not sure I’ll make it all day.  I’m out of practice!  I’m bringing my Yosi Samra leopard ballet flats just in case (order a half size up!).  Although I don’t prefer being so short (5’0), sometimes killing it in heels isn’t worth it.

Although I’m still not done packing, I have a couple ideas brewing.  I swear I’m the worst packer – it takes me forever to narrow it down and then I still end up feeling like I either over or under packed.
I’m 14 weeks pregnant now and my jeans can no longer button!  I’m doing the ole hairband trick for now, but when I get home, a new pair of maternity jeans is on the list!  I only have one good pair from when I was pregnant with James and I lent them out, so I need to see if I can get them back- it’s been a few years now.  It’s funny too that I pulled out all my packed away maternity clothes and they are hideous or unusable for my current lifestyle.  I have lots of slacks and blouses that are work appropriate, but hardly any cute, casual maternity wear.
Fall fashion - distressed jeans, check shirt and booties

leopard skinny belt initial necklace | Sole Society Talisha – taupe (I’m crazy over these tassel heeled booties!  I’m typically a 6 or 6 1/2 in heels/sandals, but the 7 fit me perfectly in these.)

Friday we’ll have just a couple hours for sightseeing, and then I’ll be back home in time for dinner and James’ first soccer game on Saturday!  You can follow along on our adventures over the next couple days on my Instagram.
P.S.  I’ve been waiting forever (or at least a year!) for my Michael Kors Susannah quilted bag to go on sale and I just spotted it on sale at Macy’s.  It’s $100 off! Woo hoo!! I’ve busted mine back out for this Fall and winter and it still puts a smile on my face.

  1. I hope you have a great trip! I'm really looking forward to a maternity clothes post from you – I'm in a similar situation where the majority of my clothes from my first pregnancy were more for work and now that I'm a SAHM I don't feel like I have what I need (plus I got rid of a bunch of stuff thinking we were "done" – I guess Someone Else had a different plan!!). You have the cutest style, so I'd love to see where you shop for cute maternity looks!
