We’re barely into June and Houston is already heating up to be a hot one! Down south we’re known for Southern Hospitality, sweet tea, big hair, and the hottest, humid summers around. It gets so bad that we try to only play outside in the morning or evening and lots of time is spent at the pool or indoors. Unless you don’t mind being a sweaty mess. Which can’t be avoided sometimes. I’m finding my wardrobe currently consisting of workout clothes or my “summer uniform”.
SUMMER UNIFORM = shorts + tank/tee + sandals + accessories + sunglasses
My personal summer uniform consists of lots of my HWH Everyday Spring/Summer faves, like my Topshop u-neck tank, Halogen super comfy slubby tees, jeans shorts, vintage military shorts and Caslon shorts (I prefer the 3-inch, but Nordstrom has the 5-inch and 9-inch on sale), and my Hinge and Vince Camuto sandals. My Vince Camuto sandals aren’t currently available, but I found a similar pair also by Vince Camuto that are super cute. Havaianas flip flops are also thrown in there for super casual days.
The bright sunshine also means I never leave home with out my sunglasses for fear of being blinded by the rays, not to mention the permanent squinty-between-the-eye crease lines I always get when I go without while driving.

Hats are good for me because my hair grows so fast I can barely keep up with the highlights! My appointment is this Saturday, thankfully! #every5-6weeks #icantkeepup
Since I’m only 5’0, I prefer these shorter 3-inch version, but the Caslon shorts also come in longer lengths here (love this pattern) here in fun colors/patterns. The 5-inch and 9-inch (which would be down to my ankles!) are on sale for under $30 too. They have both regular and petite.
You might recognize this yellow tank as the same one I wore recently with my military pants.

Since I cut my hair, I can only get it in a low ponytail, but I still like it so much better than my long hair! It’s here to stay for awhile- especially with these hot days! After I saw this picture of my hair from behind, I was thinking I should take the bottom hair and wrap it around the ponytail holder- much cuter!
I have been incorporating more color into my wardrobe, but I’m a neutrals gal at heart. Grey and white is a favorite combo. And I finally realized that you CAN wear grey and black with brown. It’s a softer effect than black would be here. Are you into mixing brown, grey and black?

I’ve traded my annoying Starbuck’s order “Iced Tall 2-Pump Mocha No Whip”, for a simple unsweetened black iced tea. It’s refreshing!
My Hinge Vintage military shorts and jean shorts are in close competition for most-worn item in my closet these days. I have these military shorts in white and this coral below, but considering how much I love them, I’m thinking I should get the navy indigo too. (They also have brown and olive).

Yep. Keep cool shirts and shorts. We went to the Children's Museum yesterday and I almost passed out when we walked out the doors to the water area because it was so hot!

I definitely go by a very similar uniform in Alabama when it heats up! For dressier occasions I've been going for linen shorts and an Essie top from Lilly Pulitzer, then on casual days I just wear an oversized tee and Nike shorts 🙂
