Who says a short girl can’t wear a long dress?! You tall ladies can certainly rock these long looks, but us shorter gals can too. When I tried on this crochet back maxi dress and it fit without having to pull puddles of fabric up from the floor I was so stoked. I’m 5’1 and wearing the petite xs with wedge heels and didn’t alter it at all. That.never.happens! But, the cool thing is that it comes in regular also. 😉
But here’s the part that had me drooling – the crocheted back!
So pretty and different!
Then, I also found this marcia print maxi dress (also in petite) and again, a perfect fit. I’m wearing the same wedge sandals with this dress, but could easily wear flat sandals with this one since it’s a little shorter in the length.
midi ring (similar)
Chances are, if you’re under 5’4 like me, if the dress doesn’t come in petite, you’ll have to alter the length. This is why I wish I could sew better! Seems like such a simple alteration to just hem the bottom of a dress, I should try to sew straight lines better. I hemmed my son’s birthday Power Ranger costume and have made drapes and pillow covers, but haven’t really ever hemmed my own clothes. So jealous of you ladies that can sew!

Eliza J Print Chiffon Halter Dress – This floral print dress reminds me of the one I wore for Easter. Same pattern, right?!
Love this look! Thanks for the encouragement to wear the long dresses! laura
So comfy too!
I love that dress! I'm a short girl myself, so I know how exciting it is to find a dress that isn't dragging the floor!
Yes! Makes me want to jump up and down!
Oh my–I love so many of these maxi dresses! And I'm super jealous of your killer arms and back 🙂
Thanks Michele! Took a few weeks off from the gym and just getting back to it!
Love your dresses, and the other options too!! I have to ask, what kind of bra are you wearing with that dress that's crochet in the back?
Oh, great question! I'm not wearing one (I have implants so the girls pretty much stay in place), but this kind is strapless and backless and might work! http://bit.ly/1CuSLzI
ok I'm a large chested girl, are you wearing a nude bra with the dress? I love it..but I don't want to look tack with a bra showing. So I wasn't sure if it was lined so the bra doesn't show.
No bra in the pics- implants keeping the girls up and the top is pretty snug so I felt secure going without. That would've been a cool idea if the crochet was lined, but it's not. I agree, you don't want a bra showing in the back and found this one that could work http://bit.ly/1CuSLzI – it's backless and strapless.
I would have thought you were taller. Love the dresses.
If you met me in person you'd see how short I am! Always the shortest in the bunch. 🙂
I love all of these but the first is my favorite. That back is so pretty. I am 5 ft and even with wedges or heels I still have to have them hemmed. It is so frustrating.

I love the first one, that crochet back is absolute perfection!

Thank you! Such a fun detail!
Megan, I love that first dress on you! You look gorgeous. It is very flattering on you and the back is fun and sexy. I might have to order that dress. I'm 5'3" and loved your post today. Have you tried on that Eliza J print crepe de chine halter maxi? I've been eyeing that one, too, but curious how it would look on us shorter gals.
Love the first dress. It looks very pretty on you and makes you look taller.
As someone who is 5 ft and 1/2 inch, I totally appreciate this post. You look fantastic in all the dresses! To find anything that does not need to be altered is one of the best simple joys in my life.
