HomeGoods Happy $100 GIVEAWAY

HomeGoods Happy $100 GIVEAWAY

One of my favorite retailers for home decor, HomeGoods, invited me to “Make Happiness Happen” for someone in my community with a $250 gift card to HomeGoods.  There were no restrictions and I could use the gift card to help in any way (some examples they shared were redecorating the living room of a firehouse, donating the gift card to a silent auction, decorate your spouse’s office, or the bedroom of one of your closest friends who needs some help).

I chose to put the gift card to good use by decorating the reception area/lobby of my son’s school.  It’s a wonderful environment for learning and community,

Workouts

Workouts

So, I’ve been working out again (on my own- no trainer), but I learned so much while working out with him and have continued to do the type of workouts we did.  Our workouts consisted of “active rests” which sounds like a contradiction, because you really aren’t “resting” at all between exercises, unless it’s just to catch your breath.  So, if I’m doing squats, in between sets, I might do 30 jumping jacks, jump squats, lunges, push-ups, etc.  Or, I just move quickly between exercises.

I tracked my workouts on my iPhone in the Notes app so I could share them with you.

I came across this navy blue suede bootie and it’s one of those things imusthaveimmediately so, naturally, I wanted to share it with you! It comes in other colors, but the blue is so cool.

Sole Society Tallie Suede Tassel Bootie

Another bootie I really like is the steel grey Splendid Lakota Bootie.  It also comes in a unique cranberry or brown.

I’m also a fan of the perforated shoe, especially this Sole Society Sidney Bootie in fennel

Of course, I still recommend my Franco Sarto Linden and the Louise et Cie Vernonia Open Toe booties I bought during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale.

DIY Wooden Box Makeover with Duct Tape

DIY Wooden Box Makeover with Duct Tape

Last week, I showed you a project where I painted a wooden box with a geometric pattern.  But, before I painted that large box, I made over two smaller wooden boxes with duct tape (Duck Tape brand).  The bright, shiny colors of the tape appealed to me and they come in lots of different patterns now.  I went with a bold red and hot pink combo for the first one.

To achieve this look, just wrap the tape around the box and the lid, pressing as you go to ensure no air bubbles.

My Meals Calculated by My Fitness Pal

My Meals Calculated by My Fitness Pal

It’s been 7 weeks since my bikini competition where I competed at 100 pounds and now I weigh 108!  Yes, that’s over a pound a week! Yikes! I can tell that my body composition is still better than it was when I started training (more muscle and less fat), and I didn’t plan to stay at 100 pounds, but I’d like to be at 104.  So, I find myself with 4 pounds to lose.

I’m sure I put on weight because: 1) I was eating two pints of Haagen Dazs Gelato (Sea Salt Caramel) a week for about 5 weeks,

Faux Marble Console Makeover

Faux Marble Console Makeover

What an accomplished weekend!  We managed to attend a PTO happy hour, two kiddos’ birthday parties, clean the house (including laundry!), rearranged James’ bedroom (switched up the bed and dresser), and finally hung the four family photos that have been sitting against our bedroom wall for months now!  That one felt really good.

Another project that took less than 10 minutes was transforming our entryway console table.  Check out the difference a little bit of marble contact paper made!

This console table was one of the furniture pieces that moved from our old townhouse to our new home over four years ago.

Weekend Steals & Deals

Happy Friday friends!  I feel so much lighter heading into this weekend with my office closet cleaned out and 3 years’ worth of my son’s artwork properly organized and preserved.  I’ll be ordering my first Artkive book this weekend and will let you know how it turns out.  Also, although I haven’t posted lately on Honey We’re Healthy, I have been working out again consistently and it feels great!  I’ve been keeping track of my workouts everyday and plan to start sharing them next week.

As for the fashion finds this weekend, I received the cardigan and sweater/jacket I mentioned last week and they are keepers!

Painted Wooden Boxes

Painted Wooden Boxes

A design trend I’m seeing everywhere these days is the colorful geometric pattern.  I’m crazy for it, and have some fun notebooks that make me happy just looking at them.  I wanted to bring more geometric pattern into my life and yesterday, created a colorful, decorative box for my office.   All you need for this project is an inexpensive wooden box from the craft store, craft paint, paint brushes, painters tape, and clear enamel spray to give your box a glossy finish.

I started with a rough sketch of how I wanted my pattern to look,

Organizing & Storing Kids Schoolwork & Art

Organizing & Storing Kids Schoolwork & Art

It’s about time I got around to condensing, organizing, and preserving my son’s artwork- he’s 4 and, as I’m sure you can relate, has created enough art is his young life to create quite the gallery.  He’s been in preschool at least part-time since he was 18 months old and every week would bring home all the art he’d created that week at school.  I kept nearly everything from 18 months to 3 years, and then when he started PK3, I knew we’d have a big problem if I couldn’t let anything go, so after admiring and talking about each thing he’d made,

What started with wanting to get my son’s artwork condensed and organized turned into a weekend full of cleaning out and organizing my office closet where things tend to accumulate until I can’t even get in there, let alone find anything.  This closet is a good size and has lots of potential, but I wasn’t making the most of it.  I moved my two wrapping carts into the closet because they didn’t go with the calmer, more grown-up vibe I was going for in the room.  I still use them quite often (more on that later this week), but with all my mess stuffed onto the floor,

Weekend Steals & Deals – 5 Dresses Under $50

Happy Friday friends!  I feel like we made it through a pretty big week with my son starting back to school on Wednesday and everything that goes along with it.  We are working on getting back into a good nighttime and morning routine and, although my son seems great with it, I’m pooped! I’m currently working on preserving/organizing his years of artwork that I’ve let pile into bins and I’ll definitely be ready for a dinner out that involves a cocktail or glass of wine this weekend.  Maybe I’ll wear one of the new dresses that arrived this week, I’m crazy over them!

Back to School – PK4

Back to School – PK4

My son started Pre-K4 yesterday and when I picked him up, he said he had a great day!  In the days leading up to school starting, I asked him how he felt about going back to school.  He said, “I will miss you.”  Awww . . .  melts mama’s heart.  I’ll miss you too, buddy.  He was so excited to see all of his friends again and pretty hyper on the back-to-school/meet-the-teacher night.  When I dropped him off today, he just waved bye and said, “Have a great day!”  No tears, no “don’t go!” or “I don’t want to go to school”.

Wardrobe Wednesday // Booties + Shorts

The three pair of boots I ordered online during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale arrived and I had a chance to try them on and see how they fit.   I wear between a 6 and a 6 1/2 shoe and the Franco Sarto Linden Leather Bootie fit perfectly in a 6 1/2 with a thin sock.  I’m a fan of Franco Sarto shoes in general because they are well made and always fit comfortably.  On these, I like the low (2-inch) heel that still gives some height, but I can run around in it for hours without my feet killing me by the end of the day.

Back to School Organization

Back to School Organization

That time of year is upon us, getting the kids back to school and a major feeling of needing to “get organized” in order to deal with the change.  Before we know it, our schedules will be filled with  homework, sports practices and games, class activities and parties, and everything else that comes with the school year.  Today, I’m sharing one way I’m preparing for this new school year over at 11 Magnolia Lane in their Operation Organization: Back to School Edition.   At our house, I think I can safely say Wednesday (our first day of school) is going to kick our butts as we have been sleeping in too late and our mornings have been particularly lazy lately.

Dining Room Updates

Dining Room Updates

Happy Monday friends!  Did you have a good weekend?  Ours was pretty laid back, but we did manage to put some finishing touches on our dining room after recently painting the walls Sherwin Williams Comfort Grey (lightened 75%).  I hemmed and hung the drapes back up, added new mirrors to the wall, and shopped my house for some aqua and green summery decor items.

The back wall of the dining room is really long, so I wanted to switch out our previous smaller rectangular mirror for giant round mirror.  All of the round mirrors I sourced online were more than I wanted to spend,

How to Get in Shape // 5 Step Plan

How to Get in Shape // 5 Step Plan

I’ve been ruminating on this post for awhile.  Now that I have the experience of training for and competing in an NPC bikini contest behind me, I’ve been on my own to try to maintain the body I built in those six months.  I made significant progress, going from about 25% body fat and 115 pounds to probably 15% body fat (I’m not 100% sure on that number because we stopped measuring at 17 or 19%.  I was supposed to get my body fat tested at the Bod Pod, but they cancelled because the machine wasn’t working), and I competed at 100 pounds.

Weekend Steals and Deals (August 2014)

I’m still waiting for my shoes to arrive that I purchased on the last day of the Nordstrom sale, but they should be here next week.  I got the Louise et Cie ‘Veronia’ Open Toe BootieEnzo Angiolini ‘Eero’ Leather Boot, and the Franco Sarto ‘Linden’ Leather Bootie.  I will let you know how I like them when they get here and report back on the fit. 🙂

I found some really cute dresses and cardigans to share with you this week and detailed the weekend sales you might be interested in.  Meanwhile, I’ll be catching up on my house cleaning and getting ready for school to start on Wednesday!
