Downloading and Using Your Fonts in PicMonkey

As a big user of PicMonkey (a free online photo-editing site), I always wished they had a larger selection of fonts to choose from.  In the past, they have expanded their options, but now you can access all the fonts you have saved to your own computer!  I was so excited to see this new development!  But, I recently had to wipe my computer to fix an issue it was having, which meant I lost all the fonts I had downloaded over the years.  Boo!  Over the weekend, I went back and redownloaded and installed (most) of them again.

Bikini Contest Preparation // One Week Out!

Bikini Contest Preparation // One Week Out!

Hi friends!  If you’re reading this, you may have stuck with me from the very beginning when I started training for this NPC Bikini Competition.  Thank you so much!  I have felt the support and it has encouraged me all the way to this point- with just one week to go.  I’ve mentioned before on my Facebook page and Instagram that I often read my Instagram comments and respond while I’m doing cardio.  I can’t tell you how much it helps to feel like people are rooting for you.  The day of the contest,

Weekend Steals & Deals

Weekend Steals & Deals

Hello friends! Do you have something good planned for this weekend?  We’ll have a family-filled weekend between visiting my parents and hosting our in-laws for about a week.  And I’m in the last week of bikini competition prep.  After it’s done, I’m really looking forward to a date night where I get to eat what’s been off the menu for months!  I’m dreaming of Mexican food, pizza, and ice cream! This cute Andrew Marc Striped Shift dress would be adorable for a night out (or possibly at the office).  I put together some sale accessories to go with it too.

Home Decor Progress After 4 Years

Home Decor Progress After 4 Years

Sharing my home office on Monday made me stop to reflect on how far we’ve come with the decor in our home in other rooms as well in the past 4 years.  We moved into our home in July 2010 and through my blog archives, I found a post I wrote on July 15, 2010 that showed all the rooms in our house as we were just about to move in.  I specifically remember how excited I was to be moving our family from a dark, small townhouse to a bright, spacious home.  Our son was just 4 months old and it was a dreamy time.We started pretty much from scratch with everything in this house as far as furniture and decor goes and I have learned so much over the years about my style and what I like.

Wardrobe Wednesday // Comfy Colorful Flat Sandals

Wardrobe Wednesday // Comfy Colorful Flat Sandals

Although I am generally a high heels or at least wedges kinda girl, practicality has been weighing out more and more these days.  You can often find me running around in flip flops or athletic shoes, but I have my eye on a few of these colorful flat sandals.  I have the DV by Dolce Vita ‘Alvyn’ Sandal in blue and I’ve been wearing them everywhere.  They look great with jean shorts and my white skinny jeans.  Havainanas ‘Slim’ flip flops are my everyday running around sandal, but I love how colorful the options below are and they tend to dress up an outfit a little more than regular flip flops.

Bikini Contest Prep // 2 Weeks Out

Hi friends!  Now we are only two short weeks away from my first NPC contest.  I’m excited and TIRED!  Of course now that the contest is almost here there is lots of other home and family stuff going on, but I’m still managing to get my workouts in and stick to my diet.  I just ordered Muscle Egg (chocolate caramel flavor) and cannot wait to get it.  It’s going to replace my shake as my last meal.  I’m just not digging drinking a shake, but I think this will be more like chocolate/caramel milk.  We’ll see . . . I’ll let you know how I like it.

Black and White Home Office

Black and White Home Office

I’ve s-l-o-w-l-y been redecorating my home office into a space that most reflects my current design style.  I am very thankful and fortunate to have a room to call my own where I can blog, answer emails, make schedules, craft, write letters, and wrap gifts.  I have enjoyed having this room to retreat to, but something felt “off” with the decor and it was never quite right, but it’s much better now.  🙂 I wanted to transform the office into a more sophisticated space and I think the black and white accomplishes that.  I still have punchy pops of color, just in smaller doses.

Weekend Steals & Deals

Are you ready for the weekend?  I’m so looking forward to spending some time with my brand new baby nephew and my only 2-month old baby niece this weekend!  I just bought one of those BHG  special publication magazines filled with readers’ favorite recipes and I’m planning to make something yummy to bring.  New moms always appreciate food being prepared!

When I was putting together this weeks Steals & Deals post, I was surprised to see how many super cute dresses White House | Black Market has on sale- they are 30% off with Code 18746.  Do you remember when they used to sell only black and white clothing?

Wardrobe Wednesday | Summer Color Crush (Coral & Pink)

Wardrobe Wednesday | Summer Color Crush (Coral & Pink)

It’s Wardrobe Wednesday and I’m sharing my crush on corals and pinks for the summer, specifically dresses.  I’ve always been a big fan of dresses because it feels like it’s so much easier to just put on one thing and then accessorize.  I found a variety of dresses in differing patterns, styles, and lengths that I’d say are mostly for weekends, date nights, or summer parties.  I’m also super excited about the Kate Spade Metro Geo Print watch– it’s pretty different and would go great with these summer colors.

I was up late working on a tech tool that would allow you to click on the photo in the collage to shop that item,

Best Sports Bras

Best Sports Bras

This post has been a long time coming.  I’ve been wanting to share my favorite sports bras with you because I know that finding a good one is so important!  I’d love to hear about your favorite sports bras too!

Under Armour ‘Still Gotta Have It” Print Racerback Sports Bra

This sports bra is comfortable, lightweight, and fits well.  I wear it for medium-intensity cardio and weight workouts.  Basically, it’s my ‘go-to’ sports bra that I wear most often.

I’m a 32 D bra typically, and I wear a size Medium in this bra.

Home Tour (Sis-n-Law’s House)

All married folks know, when you get married, you also inherit your spouse’s family.  I happen to have hit the jackpot with my husband’s only sibling.  My sister-in-law (“Sista”) as we affectionately call each other.  She is a one of those people who everyone immediately likes.  She’s really funny, sarcastic and a terrific cook.  I’m so thankful to have such an awesome sista (especially since I only have brothers).  We visit with their family pretty often and I’m also fond of her husband, and especially their kiddos, an 11 year-old boy who is just the best, the kind of kid you want to visit with,

Kirkland’s Limited Edition Kids Collection & $50 GIVEAWAY

Hope you all had a great weekend and wonderful Father’s day.  I got to spend some precious time with my family on Sunday.  We are still praying for my Dad and my heart-felt appreciation goes out to anyone else inclined to add to our prayers.  I try to keep my blog (and life) positive and most of my intimate stuff private, but I know I have readers/friends who genuinely care and would be happy to lift my family up in prayer.  Thank you.

For my husband, along with his Father’s day gift, our son answered this printable and I filled in exactly what he said.

Bikini Contest Prep // 3 Weeks Out

With just 3 weeks left until my bikini contest, I’m finally feeling confident that I’ll be able to hold my own on stage.  This is such a big relief!  It just goes to show that over time, with the right diet and exercise, how much you can change your body.  Of course, I’d love to win, but in reality, just changing my physique to this degree and making it to the contest without chickening out is a big win in my book!  And eating clean for so long is a big deal.  I’m a girl who LOVES her sweets!  Chocolate, ice cream,

Accomplishing Goals

Accomplishing Goals

Hi friends!  Not much new here on the home front as I’ve been busting it in the gym and with other commitments.  If you’ve been following along on my fitness journey, I just posted a Bikini Contest Prep- 4 Weeks Out Recap.  I “resolved” at the New Year to get in shape.  I had gained extra weight and wasn’t happy in my skin, and was tired of feeling slow and heavy.  I needed to get my groove and energy back.  Three months later, at age 39, I was preparing for a bikini fitness competition (a very old “bucket-list”

Bikini Contest Prep // 4 Weeks Out

We’re in the final stretch now, and I’m really starting to look forward to the end.  This last two weeks I had to kick it into high gear to try to lose more weight and body fat.  I did it by upping the intensity of my cardio and staying as strict as possible on my diet.  As of today, I weighed 106 (at the gym, 103-4 at home) and am at 17% body fat (down from 109 gym pounds and 19% body fat two weeks ago).  I started this journey at 25% body fat and 110 pounds (at home).  Go here to see my pics at 15 weeks out.

Father’s Day Gift Guide

Father’s Day Gift Guide

Come Sunday, June 15th, it’s time to shower the men in our lives with some extra love in honor of Father’s Day.  Today, some of my favorite bloggers are sharing their Father’s day picks with us, as well as their gorgeous family photos.  I’m seriously impressed with these gift ideas because I feel like I’m much better at shopping for women than men.  I think I have a good idea for this year though- a Jawbone JAMBOX Wireless Bluetooth Speaker.  I hear they are awesome and you can use them with your iPod, iPad, or iPhone- at the beach,

Wardrobe Wednesday // Summer Uniform (denim shorts)

Even though it’s not quite summer, Houston has been giving us a taste of hot, summer weather.  On most days, when I’m just running around and want to be really comfortable, I find myself turning to my “summer uniform” of jean shorts, a tank top, and sandals or flip flops.  Do you have a summer uniform?  I find that the denim shorts that fit me the best are from Express, but I’m going to order a new pair (or two, LOVE the first pair below and the palm pair) from GAP!
