I love a short week, it makes the weekend come super fast!  I got all excited when I realized that the Nordstrom Half-Yearly 40% off Clearance Sale is still going on – until June 1.  You can see my original Nordstrom sale pics here– most of it is still available.  You definitely need to look at the shoe picks! 🙂 

I ordered a few things I loved, but had to exchange the white jeans for a larger size.  Still waiting on the camo pants- expected ship date is 6/3.

Bikini Contest Prep- 6 Weeks Out Progress Update

I went for my bikini consult to order my suit and I’ll share that with you next, just off to the gym now and wanted to post my latest progress update. Although things are coming together, and if I hadn’t committed to this contest, I’d be very satisfied with where I am now, but I still have lots more work to  do to get “competition ready.”  

My body fat is 19% right now, but it only came down from 19.75 in the last two weeks.  We are looking for it to come down at least one point a week,

Wardrobe Wednesday | Chambray & Lace Shorts

Hump day already! Feels good to be so close to the weekend again! I’ve been trying to wear more of my clothes in different ways to make the most of items already in my closet. My friend Trisa is great at this- she’ll have one thing she wears a hundred different ways and I admire how many outfits she can create.  I always wear this chambray shirt with white skinny jeans, so I tried pairing it with shorts to give me another look.  I’m liking this chambray + lace shorts combo.  It’s great here right now on days it’s not too hot.

Weekend Recap

Weekend Recap

If last weekend is an indicator of how the summer’s gonna go, I think it’s gonna be a good one!  We got to hang out at the pool and water park, did some chores around the house and yard, and had our ice cream party.  The party was supposed to be outside, but it rained, so we set up inside instead.  It was a fun time and just the perfect ending to a long weekend. We did end up with way too much ice cream left over though!

This is our last week of school and we’re ready for SUMMER!

I’m FINALLY in a really good groove with my meals.  Now that I’ve learned that I can actually season my food, I’m so much happier with the taste!  I (sorta) joked with my trainer/nutritionist that he could have mentioned that about 7 weeks ago!!  I eat the same thing over and over, but since I like it, I don’t mind.  I still struggle with my last meal of the day (a protein shake or egg whites with side salad) because at that time of night (about 8pm) I just want a bowl of cereal.  I have caved and had cheerios several times.

Have y’all made plans for Memorial weekend?  We are staying in town and didn’t have any special plans, so after ruling out an overnight road trip, we thought it would be fun to host a neighborhood ice cream social on Monday afternoon for those who are staying in town too.  We’ve got great families with lots of kids in our neighborhood, but we don’t all get together too often unless we run into each other on an evening walk or at the local park.  On the couple occasions we have gotten together, it’s been a great time.  We’re also inviting some friends from school since we’ve gotten so close throughout the school year.

Bikini Contest Prep (8 Weeks Out Recap)

This Saturday will be 7 weeks until my bikini contest.  Seven weeks sounds so much shorter than 8 weeks, less than 2 months away.  I’m getting a little freaked out because, up to now, I’m mostly just thinking day to day with my food and the training, not really focusing on having to get on stage at the end of this all and be judged.  The scariest part of this is the posing that’s required at these bikini shows.  It’s not traditional flexing, showing of biceps, but there is a certain way of standing and doing some turns to show off your body from every angle.

There were a few years that I didn’t like wearing shorts, even in the summer when it was so hot.  I probably didn’t find any I thought were flattering and didn’t feel comfortable in them.  But, shorts are back in a big way and there are a few styles I especially like because they are super easy to wear and much more fun than my typical cutoff jean shorts or the solid cotton variety.  Our weather is already hot enough for shorts, so I’m wearing them now.  Today, I’m talking about my new love affair with patterned shorts.

Memory Keeping

Do you journal or do any kind of memory keeping?  Sometimes I wonder if journaling is a lost art- the act of sitting down and physically writing your thoughts on paper.  I used to journal a lot years ago, but sometimes, I would find myself using the computer to get it all out because it was faster.  I have a fascination with documenting things and always keep my paper calendars from years past.  I’ve got calendars dating back to when I was a college waitress and bartender and every week wrote down how much I made in tips.  I even found an old journal entry the other day from 13 years ago,

Last week, when World Market was having their big, annual Friends & Family sale, I stopped in and picked up a few things.  I was immediately drawn to their colorful selection of outdoor entertaining goodies, like melamine plates and plastic cups.  I use melamine plates daily for my protein pancakes, so a few more wouldn’t hurt, and they’re really affordable.  I played around with pre-setting a colorful Spring table that I intend to use when I have some girlfriends over for lunch soon.
