Wardrobe Wednesday // What I Wore to Dallas

Packing for a two-day trip feels like it takes forever, especially when you are going to a fashion blogger conference.  At these kinds of events, it’s easy to put a lot of pressure on yourself to dress to impress, but I tried to just pull out what I felt good in and kept in mind that my main goal was to enjoy myself and visit with my friends.  But, that didn’t stop me from running to Marshalls and TJ Maxx at the last minute to see if I could find something new!  I shop everywhere and love the steals at those stores, which are pretty convenient to my house.
For the travel day I wanted to be comfortable, so I wore ankle jeans and a trendy, silky tank with gold accessories.  I snapped this pic just before heading out the door.  Hair’s lookin’ good thanks to my Remington Wide Styling Wand.  I’ve gotten so much better at using it- barely takes any time now. (But I still wear the glove!)
My most favorite jeans right now –AG Stevie Ankle Jean (I’m 5’1 and have the 26R.  I can wear them unrolled, but they bunch a tad) |  ASTR drape back chiffon tank  |  DV Disco sandal for the airport  |  Kate Spade Leopard Ikat iPhone 5 & 5s case
The outfit I originally planned for Day 2 (black Express shorts and a black and white striped blouse- similar) was ruined when I went to iron the blouse and burned a giant hole into it.  I was rushing and not paying attention to the heat setting. 🙁 Luckily, I had a backup outfit that was more colorful anyway and worked out fine.   The skirt is one of the things I found at TJ Maxx at my last minute shopping trip.  I love that it fit perfectly off the rack.

Gap tank (similar)  |  or you could wear it with a t-shirt  |  Milly skirt (similar) here here   |  Michael Kors heels similar here  here  here   |  Kate Spade Gramercy Grand watch  (love the Kate Spade Metro watch too)  |  Stella & Dot Kimberly necklace
We went to an outdoor cocktail party and I wore a Slate and Willow Derek dress that I ordered from Rent The Runway.  I paired them with blue suede Jessica Simpson Cayna Ankle Strap Pumps and Stella & Dot Aqua Serenity Stone Drop earrings.
The romper was also a fun last minute find for only $16.99!  Reminds me of disco fever with the wide leg. 😉 And with wedges, I didn’t have to hem it!  I wore this on the last day and also to the airport back home with a scarf- it was really comfy to travel in.

I couldn’t find the exact jumpsuit one online, but this Lavish Alice Cami jumpsuit by ASOS is similar  and this coral/red Bebe wide leg jumpsuit is so cute! |  Stella & Dot Rebel Pendant necklace  |  Michael Kors wedges (similar here  here  here |  Henri Bendel Metropolitan Bolt Cuff Bracelet (in black) – it was a Christmas gift from my hubby |  Stella & Dot Union Square Frida Scarf
Although my blog will remain mainly home decor / organization / family, I plan to incorporate fashion posts on Wednesdays and Weekend Sale posts on Fridays.  Except for last weekend, I really haven’t shopped for clothes this year.  I’m keeping my eye out for good deals and want to find some fun Spring/Summer looks soon!  I hope you enjoy- let me know! 🙂

  1. I'm loving that skirt! I have to confess that I've never shopped at TJ Max or Marshalls but I'm going to check them out now. Have you ever done a hair tutorial? Your curls are always so perfect!

  2. Gorgeous outfits all around!!!! Also, I have that same wand and it's so much better than the smaller curling wands. I have shoulder length hair, too, and it gives so much nicer of a loose wave, while I feel the smaller wands look way too "kinky".

  3. Gorgeous girl!! I had so much fun following you girls last weekend! Looked like a BLAST!!!

  4. Love the chiffon tank…so cute! The romper is a cute throwback as well-looks great and the disco throwback is spot on, lol. I'd love to hear your feedback on Rent the Runway. When I've checked the photos out at Rent the Runway, some of the dresses look a tad "worn". I noticed the back hem in your dress above didn't look quite right….do you like RTR and would you order from them for a more formal event?

I'd enjoy seeing more fashion on the blog.

    1. Hi! Disco fever baby:) I loved that Slate & Willow dress, the hem did look like it needed to be ironed, but I didn't take the time to do that. Two of three other dresses I received were damaged, but they immediately credited me for them. I love their styles and will order from them again. The customer service lady couldn't have been sweeter or more apologetic. The rectified the situation immediately.

  5. I just picked up that strapless navy romper at TJ Maxx last week! It's awesome and adorable! Plus, I have the Stella and Dot Kimberly necklace – which is usually my go-to necklace for a bunch of outfits. Great post! You look great!

    1. Hi Lisa, no, I'm wearing a racerback (thin) sports-type bra from Target. Thanks for the compliment! You could wear a strapless bra with it though.

  6. You look GORGEOUS!!!!! and that hotel room was AMAZING! So glad we chatted this weekend! Looking forward to meeting up again! XOXOXO

  7. You look gorgeous in every outfit Megan! It was fun following along on IG last weekend! Looks like such a great time and a wonderful group of women. How fun that you got to meet Shannon from Bird a'la mode. She is so sweet and down to earth. I love your fashion post today! Keep them coming!!
